The golf course has done an amazing job of a redo that has taken a bit of time. Greens are rolling great, tee boxes are perfect and time of play has sped up due to no 5 some's. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to walk or ride. New clubhouse starts construction in the next month. It will be one of the best public courses in the area. The various renovations have definitely improved the course. Ir has a great deal of variety, and has some challenging fairways and greens.

Course is decent to play. But when it come to playing on this course.. its a joke.. you have golfers playing loud music out of their golf cart. You have groups of 10 playing all together in one hole holding up the rest of the players playing behind. Then you have golfers taking 30 min per hole and if you pass them up they'll complain for not waiting .. a par 72 should take no longer then 2 hours playing with two golfers and 3.5 hours.. with 4 golfers. Not 5 hour playing 9 holes.. they need a course marshal that know how to keep the game flowing smoothly. Not taking order from player who think there Jr kid golfers throwing a tantrum if someone bypass them to keep the game flow going. ... especially when your paying $50 to play 18 with a cart.. at thier twilight price If you tee off at 400 you should be finished by 630 It was 820 and I was on hole 11 when the marshal stop by to tell me I needed to return the golf cart.. since 830 they all needed to be turned in. As I was driving away at 850 there were still players golfing with there golf cart.. I would of been done playing my 18 that I paid for by then. .. Poor management over all.. Unless you're not worried about getting better at playing golf and you don't care about over paying to play. Then your okay.. But if your a golfer that wants to improve your game. To complete in golf tournaments. Then by pass this place or get the first tee time of the morning A scale from 1-10 The course is a 3 not challenging at all lots of par 3 and par 4.. Horrible experience for my first time playing here. I'll be sure never to come back to this facility. We teed off at 4:45 pm and didn't get to hole 9 tell 8:09pm. That is disgusting, waited on every single hole. This was by far the most unreal golf experience I've ever had, as we are waiting on the 8th tee box we are approached by the most disrespectful man I have ever met, he proceeded to put his ball down with us, acting like he was going to join my to some group. So at this point he was playing with us... He ended up passing us and making us wait yet again, as he did the same thing to the group in front of us. Like I said, worst golf experience ever. Sprinklers were turning on on us on the backside. Just overall worst experience in my 20 years of golfing I've ever had I wouldn't want people to play this course if it was free. read more

Northshore Golf Club is little out-of-the-way and hidden, but I found it very relaxing. Went to the driving range for the first time but little did I know that they only have I think 10 stalls. The guys at the pro shop were very nice as I learned a little bit of the history before I used my clubs. I went at 3:30 in the afternoon on a rainy day and the driving range was packed with a few people already in line. I just waited my turn and that's the downside of a small driving range. read more

Just a sub par course. Amenities are few and the condition of the course is questionable. Buried deep in a neighborhood we were excited to discover a secret gem...we found zirconia. The greens were banged up and first cut on the fairways was so sporadic and shoddy we barely missed going into an unmarked water hazard. My little dream of finding a hidden treasure died. read more

This is where I learned to golf. It's not as fancy as some of the expensive country clubs but it's a great place to go and golf casually, hit some balls, and a great place for kids. Used to love playing here! Since new owners have taken over it has gone to sh!t. Dry patches over many of the fairways, greens keepers watering the green WHILE our foursome was on said green. Lazy maintenance man sitting in his cart forever. Soon as we tee off and make it to the green and start reading for our putts he gets out walks over drops his hole cutter tool and folds his arms to watch us do our thing. Sleeveless shirt, shorts and combat boots. Followed us through the whole golf course. Definitely not worth the $71 any longer. The course is still a test for the good player and an absolute bear for the weekend hacker. read more

I had left my AirPods in the golf cart when I finished golfing. I called about 15 mins after I left. They said they found them, and told me they were locking up for the night. So they would leave them on the post by the gate. I came back and what looked to be my AirPods were sitting there as they claimed. It was AirPods in my protective case. But when I opened them to use them on my flight the next morning, my phone told me they were not my AirPods and asked if I wanted to connect the new ones. Then in tried them and the left one was broken. My AirPods were also only a week old. But there was old ear wax inside the ones their employees switched them with. It was disgusting!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I clean my ears every day! I called and told them what happened and they claimed they did nothing of the sort. But when I did Find My AirPods on the app, the last known location of my actual AirPods were still at the golf course. And the switched ones were new on the app. So it showed two different AirPods. I called again, spoke to a manager and explained, he didn't care in the slightest!!! That's almost $300 that was stolen from me and lied to me about! Like I wouldn't notice or the ability to track them on an iPhone wouldn't tell me! This place is terrible! I'm now back in town and plan to call the police and go to the Course with them. And just so we're clear, it wasn't "accidentally" switched, the aftermarket protective case I had on mine is black and rubber. They removed mine, replaced their broken ones into my case, to get new ones for themselves that were not broken!!! How terrible are their employees!? Shame on your entire staff!!! read more

Nice practice area and a decent course. A few VERY narrow fairways and some water are about your only real challenges. As always, if you are willing to sacrifice distance for accuracy, you can score very well here. The course isn't bad ... actually a fun course to play. What sucks is being rip-off, my group made tee time for 4:10, we made it online for 26$ it included tax and range ball. The guy in the pro shop his name wad C.J. charge us 30$. First he told us it was because of taxes, but the online tee time stated 26$ include tax and range token. Later he said it was for the token, later he said it was north pierce county administration fee. So, CJ what thw f*ck is it?... I will definitely write a letter to the BBB and the attorney generals office. I will also inform the golfnow.com of your shady business practices. In my conversation with some of the Asian patrons of course, that a hole CJ been doing this for a while mostly to non-English speaking clients. English is not problem for me. If that ass hole CJ had dawn the Manager call me like i asked it wouldn't have gotten this far. Cj it's not a threat when it's a fact!... I will never play your course again, I have asked the local asian new paper to run a article on your horrible business practices. read more

The only reason I can give two stars is that the course itself is decent, and there is one staff member that is nice. Aside from that, two weeks in a row, I had some of the worst experiences I've ever had at a golf course. Last week, on the tenth tee, I had a group of people intentionally interrupt my tee shot with the pressurized air, laugh about it, and when I gave them a nasty look, they cussed me out. Great folks you got playing out at North Shore, there. This week, I was able to finish the front nine in a heartbeat, like an hour and a half. I got a great rate online, but once we hit the tenth tee, there was a three group backup. I can deal with a normal pace, no problem, but I determined that I'd rather go inside and dry off, relax a little, then head home. When I got inside, the woman working the counter (who was wonderful, even though she said she's typically in the kitchen), checked on me, and I told her I was going to look around, and then head out due to the backup. She was nice enough to say, "Well let me see if we can rain check your other nine!" Wow! Super nice! I wasn't expecting that at all, especially when I paid a well discounted rate. Sure enough, after checking with a few sources, I had a certificate in hand. So sweet! I was very grateful. Then her boss that she checked with walked in. All he says- "So let me get this straight- you finish the front nine in an hour and a half, and now you're complaining about slow play?!?" ...Excuse me??? Nothing remotely close to that came from my mouth, or the woman working the counter! I merely wanted to check out the pro shop, maybe get a drink or some food, and relax after my nine. That is an offensive, and overly-aggressive way to treat a customer of your facility. I never once asked for a refund, or a rain check, it was offered. As someone also in the golf industry, that tone and behavior does not warrant returning customers. Free nine in hand or not, the only way I'll go back to North Shore is if the rate is astronomically lower than everywhere else nearby, and I don't have to talk to anyone on the staff (save for that wonderful woman). read more

Though I am not a golfer we chose this site for our WEDDING. We shopped quite a bit and found this to be the most affordable and all inclusive location. Dani and the staff are top notch and went the extra mile for us to be sure that our day was the best. We were married at the 4th tee location which is very nice and the whole thing came off great. We then had our reception on the deck and again the staff was outstanding. We had the Italian buffet and it was excellent. North Shore is an excellent facility to play, learn, and enjoy each other's company. The staff at the front desk are really nice and inviting. Instructors Conner and Alex are patient and understanding. The course is tight due to being surrounded by residential single and multi homes. However it is well laid out. Toughest hole for me was the 15th that was narrow with a lake in front of the tee box and houses on the left. Greens are fast and well maintained. Better maintained than the muni courts in Seattle. Pace was good. My group finished in 4.5 hours walking on a Saturday morning. The range is new with 10 stalls and they have a great natural grass range next to it. Nice pitching area to practice was useful as I was chipping a lot through the course. Everyone I have been paired up with have been friendly which makes playing North Shore enjoyable. Can't wait till they get a new clubhouse! read more

We go here from breakfast. It is a good enough breakfast place, but mostly because it isn't crowded and my kid can wander around the restaurant without being knocked down. the food here is better than ihop, dennys, sharis and village inn and it is probably cheaper. read more

Excellent course. Lots of elevation changes and different shots. Well taken care of and very fun to play.

A pretty course with nice elevation changes, some water hazards, some sand, and some narrow fairways. Good rounds will likely sacrifice distance for accuracy, as it's not overly long, but easy to get in semi-serious trouble if your shots wander. Depending on when you play, it's really fast or sometimes excruciatingly slow; maybe that's the same everywhere, but the slow days seem really slow. Nice practice putting area, a chipping green, a nice SIZE range, but some simple upgrades would make it much more pleasant: Put some new flags out....you can barely see the colors they are so faded; how about chalking some circles around the flags to get a better sense of whether you are hitting your mark from a distance (maybe even green the area around the sticks a bit more). Looks to me like they leave the hitting areas in the same place for too long in the "irons only" area...hard to find grass to hit from. The restaurant here is actually pretty good. They make tasty pizza (dough and sauce made daily), and they have a nice kitchen. Made fresh salads and sandwiches. read more

Greens are excellent; fairways are mediocre; tee boxes are poor. Challenging layout. Pace of play is usually poor bordering on bad. Expect 5.5 hr rounds. This course could make some small changes that would improve things dramatically. Atop catering to legacy players and annual members who routinely back things up. Allowing multiple and/or back to back 5-somes on weekends is a poor decision that forces others to absorb this indulgence. read more

If you're interested in a 6 hour round of golf then this is your place! I hit the 4 hour mark on the 12th hole and couldn't get out of there fast enough. I know this is public golf, but really? The day started off by being snubbed in the pro shop by a blonde with a nose ring. Then being behind a foursome with a dog in tow. They got two holes behind quickly, of course. The course was in mediocre shape at best. I'll never play there again. read more

For the past three weeks I have played here and I have found the practice facilities to be the best in tacoma. The grass hitting area on the driving range is what keeps me from venturing back to other courses. There are three practice greens (one you can chip on), and these are in fairly good shape. Now the course is a little different. Playing on weekdays I did not expect to see so many divots on the green that were not repaired. Trying to save strokes I would repair about four divots on each green just to make my putt possible to make. The greens definitely need to be cut more. The fairways are fairly level and easy to hit off of, but look out for the water outlets and what not because they are craters in the fairway. Now the worst thing about this course is the sand. It seems like the sand came from an elementary sand pit. If your up on an angle in the bunker getting a proper footing is impossible. With that being the worst element this golf course is fun and is very easy to walk. read more

The course itself isn't bad. The greens were in decent shape and the staff were friendly enough. I would have given the course a 3 out of 5, possibly a 4 out of 5 since we got such a good deal from golfnow. The problem, and quite a big one, is the pace of play. I understand not everyone can finish a round of golf in 4 or even 4 1/2 hours. We tee'd off at 12:10pm. We finished 18 at 6:45pm. Over a 6 1/2 hour round of golf. At one point we had 3 groups standing on a tee block waiting for the groups in front of us. The tee times aren't spaced out enough, and they allow groups of 5 to walk. We spoke to the marshal several times who said he would see what the hold up was, but unfortunately he just left without doing anything. Again, the course itself isn't bad, just be prepared to spend 7 or so hours and waiting 20+ minutes on every tee block. read more
