Although this is in the suburbs you will still see a great show. The venue is nice,parking is easy. The performances are top quality. I have seen many shows here and will continue to see more in the future. Staff is also great, both at the call center, will call box, and concession stands. Never had a bad experience, and they are great at helping you find seats if there is a specific request or need you have. read more

Our first time at the North Shore Music Theatre and we saw the first night of the musical "Waitress" A wonderful venue with great with a very nice outdoor pre show area with food & beverages The theatre is in the round with no bad seats at all. Now the musical Waitress was amazing. The cast did a wonderful job and the music was great. If you like musicals don't miss this show. read more

My partner and I attended TITANIC on November 9, with very good seats. Although the musical itself was undistinguished in terms of music and lyrics (spoiler alert - the ship sinks), the acting was quite good and the singers more than competent. We have previously attended many great performances at the NSMT, including David Coffey in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and we know the theatre to be a great and cost effective way to keep up with what is happening in the theatre world. I would agree that one is well-advised to use the bathroom before arriving at the theatre, since the lines are long and tedious. In addition, if you want to get home to Beverly from the theatre, use the pay parking for $10 unless you have an extra hour to spare. On the whole, drivers were considerate and practiced "the zipper" as we all headed home. The NSMT is a real asset in Beverly, and I am happy that we can support it. read more

I've been doing their education for over 10 years now and have been thoroughly impressed. I've learned so much from the teachers who are highly trained professionals and are so grateful for every second that I was able to spend relighting my passion. In terms of the main stage shows they're absolutely incredible. Hard to believe that it's a local theater. They're up to Broadway level. The actors are the most talented performers in the area. The sets are super cool and unique. It's such a fun and unique experience in the round around. Ushers are very friendly. Theater is clean and very accessible. Every show I've seen there has been a blast! Can't recommend the space enough! read more

Million dollar quartet was fabulous. So glad I saw it. The musicians did an amazing job and the characters were spot on.

They produce high-quality productions, and offer seats at an affordable price. They have to do something about the restroom situation though. If you go directly to the restroom at intermission, there is a very good chance that you will still be in line when the second act starts. Either build restrooms or extend the intermission time. God help you if you want to go to the restroom and get a drink during intermission. They cannot seem to let go of the mask thing. They kept the mandate in place for as long as possible after it had been lifted in the state. Now, masks are "strongly encouraged". Why? Beverly, Massachusetts is not in a high-risk area and based on the CDC guidance, there is no need to wear a mask unless you are at a high risk. So why keep doing this? I will still attend the shows, and will not be wearing a mask. Stick to producing quality theater, and layoff on the medical advice. If I need medical advice, I will consult my doctor, not the North Shore music theater. read more

A musical that had high energy, great music and an enjoyable story about a musical and song writing legend, Carole King. This was the most enjoyable and well done show that I have seen at NSMT in over 15 years, don't miss it. read more

I've never been here before but I recently won 4 tickets to go see an Elvis themed show that's currently running called "All Shook Up" so I decided to trek it up there with one of my friends and my mom and brother. It was a great time! I must say i was really pleasantly surprised at the location. It is sort of off the highway and in the back of the woods in a suburban area of Beverly - behind the theatre they have a restaurant that is only open during show days called "Backstage Bistro" - which has props and other things from past shows which I thought was a cute idea. There is a paid lot in the front - but following my theme of free, I opted to park in the back. When we got out of the car we saw a family of WILD TURKEYS. Yes that's right. I even attached a pic to prove it!!!! Anyhow, the place is really clean and it was nice that that had an outdoor bar and eating area and a really nice bench/sitting area. Inside, there are 2 bar areas with specialty drinks and popcorn and typical theater food like nachos, pizzas, cookies and pretzels. Both the food and drink were slightly overpriced but it was nice that there were snacks available. The only really annoying thing was when I went to the bathroom- the space is tight and in an awkward L shape so when I opened the door to the bathroom a older woman was hiding behind it. She gave me a rude scowl even though I apologized for not seeing her. She continually hid behind the door and people kept hitting her BECAUSE SHE WOULD NOT MOVE...WTF? Seriously? Do you like being hit by the door every second? I also noticed the clientele was mostly older folks- it could just be because of subject of the show and the time- but it was okay I wasn't going to let that change my opinion of the place because I really dug it! It also happened to be the 35th anniversary of Elvis' death when we went to see the show, so it was nice that the staff dedicated it to him since I am a huge Elvis fan. The stage itself is pretty unique since it's a round stage and the audience surrounds it. Shakespeare would have been proud. It gave the show a lot more dimension and it was fun to see the actors run on and off the stage and it was interesting to see the middle platform change into different sets. Intermission was on point and show jumped right back in! The show itself was amazing and so much fun! I sang along to all the songs I knew and the cast was really great! It was such a hilarious show! The lighting was great and the live orchestra was wonderful! Such a rare treat! I'm so glad that I stumbled onto this great little gem! I will def. come back for more future shows! The only thing that sucked was leaving the parking lot after the show. It was a total cluster&*^% leaving and there seemed to be no direction from the parking staff that were all standing around- it was kind of like a free for all people cutting here and there-and it took me about 20 minutes to get out of there but other than that I had a wonderful time! i would love to see West Side Story if they ever do it here. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Saw Jersey Boys and the show itself was truly excellent, but beware. This place does NOT have enough bathrooms, and the staff apparently does not have the collective intelligence to know to hold the curtain at intermission when multiple paying theatergoers are still in line for the restroom. The result is coming out of the bathroom and paying customers being "held" in the lobby until an opportunity to return to one's seat comes about--meanwhile missing scenes from the show that you paid for. For a theater company that been around for decades, this is a surprisingly rookie mistake. Badly done.... read more

We all thoroughly enjoyed Mame today. The music was enjoyable and the dancing was too. The show started at 2:00 and at around 3:30 there was an intermission. This is not about the show but about the air conditioning in the theatre. We were frozen !!!!!! All of us. At intermission I asked the usher if the air conditioning could be lowered as we were all frozen. The answer was "yes" but when we went in for the second part of the show, it was still the same. One of the people in our group did not even go into the show the second half due to the cold and she stayed outside to keep warm. BRING A JACKET OR SWEATER. read more

Similarly, rating a theatre without bias from the performance is difficult. In this case, my virgin voyage to the Beverly MA stage was for Les Miserables. Let's stay impartial shall we? Location: An easy 40 minute drive from Boston and located right off 128 North. Google Maps down? Just follow the brown signs on the highway. True indication of a cultural landmark. General parking is free (there's plenty) and premium parking is $10. Tickets: For an all-professional cast performing the most popular musical of all time, I expected ceiling prices. It was a pleasant surprise to find the tickets between $50-65. Buy them online direct from the NSMT site and pay only $1 in service fees. Take that, TixMaster! Seating: A theatre-in-the-round, there isn't a bad seat in the house. The sunken orchestra avoids blaring instrumental interruption and stadium seating in a few sections offers an escape from the big haired women who have a tendency to sit right in front of you. Yeah, I'm talking to you Afro Trish. I strongly recommend Section A, opposite the set ramp. It's where the directors post up when staging the shows. And buy the cheap tier tickets - no seat is farther than 50 feet from the action. Technical: A partially rotating stage, lifts, spider web battens, aisle entrances and projection screens - oh my! The lighting, sound and set changes were flawless. While mostly due to the adept cast and crew, a flexible space helps tremendously. Overall: Just an incredible venue a small town can be extremely proud of. The intimate settings means last minute tickets won't place you behind a load-bearing structure and decent prices put seasonal subscriptions on the holiday gift list. Bravo! read more

After taking in the way better than it has any right to be stage version of High School Musical 2 this weekend, this bittersweet plea: WHAT TIME IS IT? - Please, time to be generous, and donate, if you can, even a little bit, to save this wonderful little theater, which is on the brink of closure due to financial woes. It's a truly FABULOUS place, with a wide variety of programming, and an invaluable local resource for fledgling actors. It would be a shame if you thought, "I DON'T DANCE, I think I just GOTTA GO MY OWN WAY" and not contribute if you are at all a patron of the arts, but we really have to WORK THIS OUT and could use your help, EVERY DAY, especially for the next few weeks. Any contribution, no matter how small, is appreciated, BET ON IT! We have to be ALL FOR ONE in this! Please please, save the North Shore Music Theater. Nice venu that isn't too far away from the middle of Beverly. The place itself is basically a circular building perfectly set up to house a circus. Vendors have typical food and beverage items for typical prices. Parking was an issue getting in and especially getting out - there's one road out of the place, so if you can leave a little early, you'll probably save loads of time. Getting there right on time didn't take that long, but the extra time to leave would've made getting in early worth it. And try parking near the exit. read more

Its been years since I've been to a venue that offers theater in the round. I've heard a lot about the North Shore since moving to Mass 4 years ago and finally had a chance to see a show: Legally Blonde. I was impressed by the caliber of performers and the stage craft. It was nice to see nearly the entire cast was equity; their performances highlighted their skill and finesse. With a few exceptions, the production took advantage of the stage and and used it to the max. I'm glad they over came their financial problems and are, once again,m offering theatrical production to the good people of the North Shore. read more

Production value is not worth their loss poor parking. Will wait in parking lot for over an hour just to leave, grid lock. We have been to many shows here over the years while my girls were growing up. The price is very reasonable for live entertainment and intimate seating. The only thing that could be better here is the parking situation. Make sure you either go early (so you can exit quickly ) or be leisurely when you are leaving. read more

Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" is a great show-not to be missed especially for the older generation. Wonderful songs, dancing, costumes, beautiful voices and lots of laughter. Not stop dialog makes you want to see it again. read more

I'm so glad this place is back. I've attended so many shows here, both as a patron and an usher, and I really thought that when it closed a few years back, it'd be gone for good. The most recent show I've seen here is 9 to 5 and it was mostly great. I do miss that back in the day (read:20 years ago), they used to get washed-up TV or Broadway stars in the shows. It was always a kick. I'm also pleased to report that at 9 to 5, the volume was perfect. For years, NSMT had gotten into a habit of making the live orchestra sound like it was in another room down the hall. It was disconnected and way too quiet. I hope this trend continues. read more

We recently went to the NSMT to see The Wizard of OZ; and were so thrilled with the performance, we purchased tickets at the intermission to see it again. I remember coming to the NSMT to see A Christmas Carol with our children; and always loved the small intimate theater in the round environment. There isn't a bad seat in the house; and it has easy access for people with disabilities. The staff and crew (volunteers?) are helpful and courteous. I am glad that the theater has managed to re-open after their financial troubles; and the new owner has not cut corners nor raised prices to make the theater a success. Good for him ! read more

Thank you NSMC for updating your performances! Last year I was a bit concerned too many corners were being cut. Went to My Fair Lady on Wednesday, a Fabulous performance. The actors were excellent and Eliza Dolittle was a standout. A longer performance kept the attention of the audience and a few giggles during the show made the trip worth while. Well worth the trip and the cost of the ticket. Boston level performances at resonable cost. Love NSMC! read more

Spamalot was great fun...wonderful production and actors! NSMT is a great venue on the north shore. The only downside is the 1/2 hour wait to get out of the parking lot at the end of the night, and the vendors ran out of popcorn boxes before the show even started...plenty of popcorn, but no boxes...go figure. read more

A very unique, circular theater that allows the audience to see the production from every angle. Not a bad seat in the house. Have seen A Christmas Carol and a few other productions over the years. Took my grandson to Mary Poppins- it was wonderful! My wife, daughter, son-in-law and I were thrown back to happy memories, and my grandson thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation of Disney's classic. The production was great, fun and introduced some great new songs (think "supercalifragilist..."). The in-the-round format worked well, and lead actors were great. Find someone age-appropriate to take and go have some fun. read more

The first production of the new 2010 season and new management, Gypsy, was fabulous! Every performance was above par. As a 25+ year subscriber I was pleasantly surprised at the quality since the Boston Globe gave the show a terrible review. They must have corrected the "bugs" since the reviewer went as the show was "awesome.": read more

Hit or miss with the productions. Little Mermaid was great but the very next one, Grease, we left at intermission as it was so bad. Unfortunately if you get stuck in a seat behind a tall person, you can't see half the stage. We bought season passes this year but will never buy them again. read more

I've been going to NSMT productions for many, many years. The shows are wonderfully produced. Talented casts. Fun special effects. Great choreography. I particularly love the musicals and take my granddaughters to see the family musical every summer. My only complaint, and reason for 4 stars, is the inadequate restrooms. The ladies lines snake all around the lobby at intermission and it is awful. I've paid extra for passes to use the restroom in the special "club" but at $10 per person x 4 it's pricey on top of the ticket prices. Going forward we will attend fewer shows and purchase the club passes. read more
