Two visits, both unpleasant. The first was to fix an implant, was worked on by a Technician who could not do the job and took his frustrations out on me, saying he may not be able to finish as he had other patients. He did finish repairing the implant and filled the hole but did not polish saying he did not have anymore time. The job was not difficult, he just could not do it. Finally called in the dentist to advise. The second time was when part of the same tooth fell out. Returned, saw the actual dentist but before he even looked, said that this was not in his scope to repaire. I told them the problem but they saw me anyways so they could charge the insurance as well as well as me, even though they knew they would not do the work. read more

This office went for me from a 5 star review to a 1 star review in about 30 minutes. Let me explain. First, I was very pleased that they would honor my dental insurance. Secondly, they had a very comfortable waiting room with various snacks and lightning fast Wifi. This is where the good stuff abruptly ended. When I was called to come in we were led, instead of to an examining room, to an office. The office employee then told me and my wife that before they could see me they wanted an immediate payment of $398 for 3-d x-rays. I then told this person since I have insurance that the usual procedure would be for the office to provide the service, submit the claim to my insurance company and then bill me for the balance. She said she would immediately talk to her insurance coordinator and left the room. She came back 10 minutes later and told us that we would have to pay $197 immediately and bill the insurance the balance. I reiterated that all dental offices we have dealt with did the service first, billed the insurance, and there would be an EOB for us to remit the rest. She insisted on this prepayment, we informed her that this is not the way we do business, and walked out of the office, That is why this office went from 5 stars to 1 star in less than a half hour. read more

If I could give the zero-start review I would, I took my son for a tooth extraction on 06/30/2026 the assistant stated that a 3d x-ray needs to be done and that I have to pay $ 395 due immediately. Due to my son medical history to febrile seizures, he was already scheduled for an mri of the brain per neurology, the oral surgeon suggested we do the mri first and then to see him, after mri is done. We completed the mri on 07/27/26. I called back to make an appointment on 08/12/28 they said I can't schedule an appointment without a medical clearance from neurology. I take my son to see the neurologist on 08/17/26 he clears my son for the dental procedure. Today 08/18/26 I get a phone called from the oral surgeon office and they stated that I no longer need medical clearance from neurology because the Dr. I saw on 06/30/26 no longer works there but Dr Frank is available, but he won't be the one to do the anesthesia part it will be done by an anesthesiologist, and his charges start at 2,500 because Dr Frank does not do the anesthesia part. As I was talking to the Doctor I worked with asking for recommendations, he tells me his wife have had a terrible job done by an oral surgeon, we came to find out that she went to this same oral surgeon. I should of have read reviews before going here but since I was referred per my son's Dentist, I trusted her to go here. read more

I have worked with Dr. Frank in the past, where he helped to fix some incredibly extensive issues relating to a malpractice surgery by Dr. James Vaiana of IVOMS in Peru, IL. I was beyond impressed with the level of care his office took for the whole process in 2020 when we initially met. From taking a plethora of x-rays to fully understand the gravity of the situation to bringing my case to other top oral surgeons in the US to convene on the best course of action (with my consent), I have been constantly blown away. During my first surgery, he understood the level of trauma that I had experienced and his team treated me with the highest level of bedside manner and care. When I left the office, they gave me all needed medications so I would not have to stop on my long drive home, and even gave me a DQ Blizzard to enjoy later! I still feel like that's magical in some way, I can't figure it out. When my other implant failed this year in 2024, I knew that there was only one surgeon who I would trust to handle this matter for me again. I called Dr. Frank's office and made them aware that I live 10 hours away, but needed them to help stop the damage spreading in my mouth. They got me in that Friday for a consultation, and the following Monday to remove the implant and do bone grafting. While the process is never fun, they treated me with care, listened to my story and empathized on a high-level, and even dabbed my tears as I emotionally coped during the surgery. Dr. Frank's office proceeded to call me the day after the surgery to check on me and answer any questions. They had been very thorough with me prior to the surgery with specific questions, and gave me several sheets relating to healing, but this gave me an opportunity to ask about issues relating to my other dental appliances, when I could resume drinking caffeine and using straws, and more. After the INCREDIBLE care and urgency and understanding shown around this nightmare of a malpractice case caused by Dr. Vaiana of IVOMS, Dr. Frank has been a miracle in restoring my smile. I would share the before photos of the other spot, but Google flags it due to the gross nature of it because it was REALLY bad. It is honestly shocking that my teeth and gums look as beautiful as they do, and it's because of the amazing work done by Dr. Scott Frank of both NoviSmile and NorthShore Smile Surgery. Their offices are gorgeous, the services are abundant, the technology is top-of-the-line, and the care provided to the patients is second to none. I don't care where I live in the world, I will always ONLY see Dr. Frank to handle dental matters. As a former dental professional myself, I wouldn't trust any other oral surgeon at this point. Trust me when I say that oral surgery isn't something to bargain shop on, and Dr. Frank will make sure you are cared for properly the first time. If I could give the a zero star review I would. My dentist sent me to these scam artists on a referral to have a tooth extracted (normally between ($75-125). I sit down in this palatial waiting room with marble and gold accents (probably bought with money scammed from other people they robbed blind) thinking oh this place is nice. I go into a room, not a dental room but a conference room. Dr. Franks Assistant tries selling me on thousand dollar implants and I told her "I'm just here to have my tooth pulled. I cannot afford implants at this time". She gets up and walks out. The proceeded to give me a 3D X-rays (which I didn't need be to had a copy of my X-ray from my dentist. Dr. Frank opens the door and says "we won't charge you for those, we took the wrong X-rays" I left still with my broken tooth. 2 weeks later this scam office send me a bill for $400.. they didn't even look in my mouth yet, how the crap do I owe $400? They billed my insurance for literally NOTHING... not one person looked in my mouth or did anything to my mouth. $195 to speak to a guy for less than 5 minutes? GTFOH!! What a great experience. From Day 1 Lela and the Rest Of the staff have been very accommodating, attentive, and very thorough. My first visit I also met and spoke to Dr. Powers. She was just as awesome everyone else and did a great job of explaining. I personally don't usually listen, just show up and tell me what to do but, she explained it well enough in lay terms that was great. Then Dr Frank came in and the confirmed and I thought ' " huh, why did I wait so long to get this done" . Their explanation was truly what medicine /bed side manners is about. Truly a great team from the staff to the doctors. Today was my second visit and I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled. I was put under In no time and next thing I'm having my friends taking me into my awaiting car. I said sedation and usually sedation does not work on me and low and behold it did. Even my previous ortho surgeries didn't do as well as Dr Frank which in my opinion has been the most impressive part. My friends picked me up and I'm fully awake, no pain , slightly groggy so I'm glad they made me have a driver, but I feel well. Going to take a quick nap and then walk my puppy. I've had one other wisdom tooth removed and it was painful and took me a day or two to recover. To be honest , I'm slightly loopy but could drive, and feel great. Within 2 weeks time I went from an initial visit to surgery and couldn't have been happier. I needed a tooth to be extracted and for an implant to go in. The staff was absolutely a delight to work with and were all very friendly and informative as to the process I was about to go through. Dr. Frank makes an in depth analysis of what is needed prior to surgery so that everything goes smoothly on the surgical day. A panoramic digital xray, a 3D capture for a mouthguard to be place to get the exact location for the implant to go and so on. Lela was his associate I worked closely with who was a delight to be around. Her upbeat attitude and love for her job truly shined through. Dr. Frank is an incredible surgeon. I recently had all four wisdom teeth pulled, and the experience was better than I could have ever imagined. The procedure itself was quick and easy. I went under general anesthesia for the first time, and it was an absolute breeze. The post surgical care was wonderful, and all of the medications prescribed helped me heal up quickly. I was having some pain on the 4th day, and they saw me first thing day 5 free of charge to help me out. I was having some pain on one side and I thought it may have been a dry socket. It was not a dry socket, but they treated it as such anyway, and gave me extra medication. That definitely helped. I would absolutely recommend this facility for any of your dental needs! read more

Dr. Lindsay Powers is a lifesaver. She extracted a very painful molar despite complications caused by previous surgeries on my temporomandibular joint. She also managed to work around a just-paid-for dental bridge during the procedure, saving me thousands of dollars to replace it. I had a implant done with Dr Frank recently. It was a very challenging experience. The process started first half 2018. Infection started soon after bone graft, many trips and rounds of antibiotics (6 month) gone by. The infection would not go away. I am just glad i did not develop other complications. Finally the bone graft needs to be redone and by May 2019 I was finally ready for my implant. I wasn't going to write about this bad experience since it may just be how my body reacted to the bone graft - even though I have done it with an other doctor without any issue in the past. Now the whole procedure is complete. since I paid for all the cost upfront, I am waiting for a refund after my insurance paid them for the procedure. I got the refund check for what my insurance paid for the procedure after chasing them for a couple of month. I also noticed a significant difference between what I was charged and negotiated fee between insurance and the doctor - I paid about 70% higher fee. Those are huge differences. I spoke to multiple people in their office in last few month trying to get an answer on the this issue. Every time, they promise to call me back and rarely did. I got the feeling that they are trying to avoid to pay what they owe me. They hope they will drag their feet and I will just go away. I hope the next potential patient will read my post and don't have to go through what I have to go through! read more

The Dr himself was fine I guess. He wasn't anything special, a little condescending. The lady at the front desk, however, is the reason I'll never recommend them to anyone. She was rude and uncaring. I was referred here and extremely nervous. When I told her I wanted the laughing gas she snapped and said it's "nitrous oxide shouldnt you know that." She then misplaced my ID and debit card and told me I lost it. I just had a tooth pulled and she's sitting there telling me I lost my stuff not her. After arguing with her for five minutes she went back and found it on the copier where she left it. Didn't apologize or anything. Awful customer service. read more

This is long overdue. I went to get my wisdom tooth extraction from Dr. Frank on November 8, 2018. I was a new patient that was referred by my regular dentist. On the day of the surgery, the procedure overall was fine, and Lela was probably the only part of the procedure that was amazing as she was very kind and had incredible bedside manner. She took very good care after the surgery up until I went home. On the other hand, Dr. Frank left a couple hours after my surgery on an international trip without any contact and left me in the care of his partner, Dr. Powers. As a first time patient, I would like have to know that the person performing my surgery (Dr. Frank) will be unavailable for the next week on an international trip, because I would have probably gone to another surgeon. There are a lot of risks associated with a wisdom tooth extraction, it was my first time doing this procedure, and I would have wanted a doctor that would have been there for follow up in the event that something went wrong, but no one told me that Dr. Frank was leaving up until I was in a lot of pain a couple hours following my surgery and we were trying to contact him. During the consultation a couple weeks prior, I explained to Dr. Frank that I have VERY low pain tolerance and he told me that I would be given proper paid medication, and after the surgery he sends me home with 5mg Norco/325 mg Tylenol, which is basically Tylenol. When my husband reached out to Dr. Powers, who was now taking care of me since Dr. Frank left, to tell her that we needed stronger pain medication, she informed us that they were not allowed to provide anything stronger because of DEA regulations. However, when I had to finally go to another oral surgeon to fix all of the complications from this procedure, he gave me strong pain medication right away when I told him about my pain tolerance (and I was a first time patient here too). I was in a lot of pain and discomfort and they told me I had to wait to see Dr. Powers to get any other prescription, which is not what a patient wants to hear when they are suffering badly. Keeping the patient comfortable after a surgery should be a doctor's first priority, but I feel like they just gave me standard medication and did not listen to me during the consultation. I was in so much pain and I feel like I was just ignored. Moreover, after vomiting up blood the first evening (because the surgical assistant, Lora, told me that if I have some blood in my mouth to swallow it instead of spit) I ended up in the ER. They gave me strong pain medication to help me thankfully. The ER doctor told me to stop swallowing my blood and if anything to slowly spit it out - wish I received this advice from the beginning. Then comes infection and fever time. I had developed an abscess in my cheek with cellulitis surrounding it (a skin infection). The left side of my face blew up from my head to my neck. It was the WORST feeling ever. I understand infections happen, you sign your life away with informed consent prior to the surgery so you know what you're in for, however my issue was with how the infection was handled. Dr. Powers had to step in when Dr. Frank was on his trip, and she was concerned and kept checking in on me through text with my husband. She was very nice and I went to see her the following Monday to get stronger anti-biotic medication. I began to use it all right away but then I had to return to her the next day because I was getting worse. I could barely open my mouth, and the swelling was overwhelming on the left side of my face and extremely painful. This was already 6 days after the wisdom tooth extraction. Dr. Powers tried to drain it after only giving me novocain and it was the most painful, horrible experience. After that horrible ordeal, I left their office still in a lot of pain and still had horrible swelling. I appreciate Dr. Powers' effort, but with all the suffering that I experienced in those 6 days after surgery, effort is not enough, I needed to be healed. The next day I was rushed to the ER and finally I got the help I needed. The doctors referred me to another oral surgeon, Dr. Alan Harvey, and he was amazing! I saw him immediately the following morning and he put me under anesthesia and properly drained the infection (w/o pain), and I came out of his office feeling 100 times better. Of course, I had to pay for this out of my own pocket because insurance didn't cover it, so it would have been nice if it was handled at Dr. Frank's office so that I wouldn't need to incur extra expenses, however they could not treat me. Dr. Powers was nice enough to check in after all of the suffering, however Dr. Frank did not follow up once when he returned to see how I was doing after that entire ordeal. IMO, he didn't seem to care at all about his patients. If you know your patient was in the ER and suffering while you were away on a trip, why not check in? Horrible bedside manner! read more

I chose to go with local anesthetic (only having two pulled that were almost fully erupted) and the whole procedure was quick and painless. Along with the staff being great at what they do, they were also very kind and caring! They made sure I was comfortable before, during, and after the procedure. They were also able to fit me in their schedule quickly after there was an opening and were very helpful in the process. Would highly recommend!! read more

I go to the dentist to get some work done and explain about this sore on my gums and so they take an x-ray and find a shard of tooth leftover from when the oral surgeon removed a tooth 2 yrs ago and advise me to get removed asap. So I scheduled apt for today for the shotty oral surgeon, get there early 8:50 in buffalo grove 35 min away, they have me wait 30 min in the waiting room, then moved me to a office for another 15 min, then to a procedure room all to result in showing up 15 min later to tell me the doc is going home sick..... I told the whole waiting room if your here to see him he's going home sick and if he works on anyone that's just wrong...talked to my dentist office after the happened and they called over and asked why doctor #2 couldn't see me and hey also said she was off for the whole week... read more

They charge you upfront even though the insurance would cover and then once the insurance bills for the complete amount, you need to wait months for them to credit back. After countless calls its been fruitless. Every time they say that its with the accounting team, etc. Avoid this place as they seem to be scammers. Received a phone call last week from a collection agency informing me that my college student daughter had an outstanding balance of $212 for a consultation 3-1/2 years ago. Didn't even remember visiting this place and had to look up old calendars to confirm that we went in for a possible wisdom teeth extraction consultation. I am sure that I provided them with both medical and dental insurance cards as we have both. The collection agency informed me that my daughter's credit has been negatively affected for over 3 years because of this. First of all, the appt was just days after her 18th birthday while she was still in high school. Why would they ever do that to a kid, it's the parents responsibility. Secondly, the appt was for a consultation to remove wisdom teeth, $212 after insurance for a consultation?? Sounds like highway robbery to me. Lastly, there was absolutely no correspondence indicating that there was a past due amount and that it would impact a high schoolers credit rating...none! What a terrible way to introduce a kid who's due to graduate college within the year to the greedy crooks of the world. I, as her parent, am the one responsible for this payment, not her. I should have been informed of this past due amount, not have it sit out in limbo for over 3 years. They may have severely damaged her credit rating before she even starts her financial journey. Shame on them. Did not get a good vibe from the visit and we ended up finding someone else to get the job down. After we tried medication for a couple of days, where he actually called himself to check on her, we decided we needed to pull them. Dr. Frank is really good at what he does. Very personable and very professional, proficient and fast. I had an implant, my first and did it without going under (to save money), just a local. I was fine. And that is no light statement when someone is drilling into your jaw. The office is beautiful and the equipment first rate. Staff was pleasant and helpful. But, make no mistake this was expensive. And you have to pay up front. My dental insurance paid nothing on this. The fee detailing and payment timing was confusing. You have to be very careful that you understand your charges and your balances. It never occurred to me to "shop" oral surgeons before doing this procedure. This was a referral by my dentist whom I really like. I know this procedure is expensive, but could I have gotten it cheaper? I don't know.
