I purchased a brand new Ford Mustang Mach-E and this has been one of the worst automotive ownership experiences of my life. The vehicle has suffered from repeated and dangerous brake system failures. TWICE, brake-related malfunctions caused a loss of control, resulting in an accident. This is not speculation -- this is a serious safety failure. On top of that, my vehicle has been brought to Ford North Star MORE THAN 10 TIMES for the same brake issue, and yet the problem remains unresolved. Each visit results in excuses, resets, or "could not replicate" responses -- while I continue driving an unsafe vehicle. Most recently, the brake/parking system failed again and left the car completely immobilized in my own garage. A brand-new car that cannot move is unacceptable. A brand-new car with recurring brake failures is dangerous. This dealership has had ample opportunity to diagnose and fix the problem and has failed every time. I have lost all confidence in their technical ability, honesty, and accountability. Northstar Ford made a deal with me to sell my car to him for $10, 646. It is a 2017 Ford Escape, leather seats, fully loaded. The day I took the vehicle to sell it, the Northstar Ford manager took it for a drive for over 30 minutes though they knew I was pressed for time. They wanted to make me late so I had to take what would be their reduced offer. Bill offered me $8,200 for it. Bill also said they would mail the cheque to me in 3 weeks. He said they couldn't give it to me then as they had to make sure there were no liens against it. I had a letter from Ford stating there were no liens on it. I also know that they could find that out instantaneously by searching the VIN as other dealers had. I had a flight to catch in 4 hours. He was trying to take advantage of my situation. I left there and went to the Crowfoot Dodge across the street. When they looked for the registration in the glovebox, it was not there. The manager from Northstar Ford had taken my registration from my glove box without my knowledge or consent. I had to drive back to Northstar Ford to get it. They didn't even apologize for taking it. I believe they were messing me about so I would have to sell the car to them rather than miss my flight. Crowfoot Dodge gave me what I asked for it and handed me a cheque on the spot. Was Bill at Northstar Ford going to reduce the amount further and mail me a paltry cheque in 3 weeks claiming to have found something wrong with it? Before I went to Northstar that day, I looked up the address. There were reviews online calling Northstar Ford a bunch of cheats and sleazy crooks. They are. Attended in relation to a recall where it took 4 weeks to fix the truck which got fixed. After it was fixed technician checked truck further and said it needs various repairs totaling 3200$. I could not confirm if the truck needed repairs given it sat for 4 weeks. I advised them to fix one thing which was the vacuum pump and I paid over 800$. I checked the rest of the reported issues with my own shop and advised there were no issues. The actual issues were unrelated so if I decided to fix what Ford said I would have been out of pocket 3200$ for nothing that needed to be fixed. I took truck back to Ford as i complained to manager and they checked it again, the same initial issues and FOUND NO ISSUES. They refused to give me the 800$ back and only partial refund even though I proved the technician did a poor job and lied about items to be fixed. All in all be careful with Ford. Initial review written 6 months ago I am going to start off by saying that this review isn't for me. It's for my dad as he is too proud to do it himself. My dad bought a truck from Northstar just over a year ago with a Tonneau cover. The locking mechanism on the cover stopped functioning correctly, and my dad has been attempting to have the service department take a look at it, but there has been little to NO response. Now that I am looking for a truck I am very hesitant in looking at anything in their lot if this is how things are handled. Update on this as of November 8th, 2018 My father went back to get this dealt with a while again at least a few months. The service manager and parts people took pictures, and my father expected some action to be taken place in after this. Then Informing him that Ford had cut ties with the company that makes the tonneau cover. So there is no access to parts. We went to a small outfit today (11/8/18) to just see if there was a fix. Surprise Suprise the small retailer had the part just laying around? A large dealer such as Northstar is unable to get a minor part but a small retailer can? The customer should not be responsible for sourcing parts REGARDLESS of whether or not the company has ties or not. read more

Spent $7000 on my f150 at this dealership. Originally to just get a throttle body replaced because they said that's what was causing the hard shifting... not a big fix. Somehow on the quote there was $6000 worth of maintenance and "recommended on mialage" work that they threw on There. Ultimately my fault for not scrolling through the whole quote. Never once did they verbally tell me the total of the quote or Walk me through it the two times I was there in person before. Got a text saying my truck was fixed, and the total was around $7000. Somehow they justified doing $7000 worth of work on my truck when it was only there a day and a half. unbelievable. after begging with them to help me out, they refused. BUYER BEWARE Absolutely awful experience; I bought a brand new 85,000 dollar truck I bought; the rear bumper on both sides are rusting. I have jumped through their hoops when it came to fixing the issue; they claim it's not a warranty issue. I have spoken to northstar ford and ford Canada and all they want to do is take an orbital sander to the bumper and see if that fixes the issue; I have already followed that recommendation and it made the problem worse.... they refused to give it to me in writing that this is the step they will proceed with Their recommendation and will follow up with next steps. Which assuming would be replacing the bumper. It gets even better; I receive an a outrages text from Adeen who is supposably the general managers boss which I will post here. I needed my driver side window & locks which both did not work on my 2017 F150 Ford transit van (which I bought new from the dealership) fixed so I brought it in & thought I'd have the peace of mind inspection & my winter tires put on as well. when I asked the price after service it was over $550 & no window or lock repair or call to inform me of the status of my van. since it's a work van I need it to make my living & cannot afford to have it in a shop all day . so for another $408 they can repair window & locks which will also cost me $500 in revenue which I will not earn. very disappointed as I am sure many people are in these trying times read more

These crooks sold me a brand new F150 with a faulty transmission. I brought the truck in right after purchase because the transmission slipped and clunked. They 'fixed it' and returned it with the truck making the same noises. I was told "this is just how the new 10 speed transmissions sounded'. I reluctantly accepted that so long as they promised it wasn't going to lead to mechanical issues .... They assured me it would not. Guess what....just outside warrantied mileage the transmission goes! I am quoted 13000 dollars by the ignorant jerks in service and told I was out of luck as far as any warranty coverage. Their Verma or was rude and seemed very practiced. They sold me a lemon, lied about it so I'd keep it until it had a major mechanical break down then told me to get lost when I brought it in for repair. I have been purchasing Ford vehicles in Alberta and B.C. since 1981, and Northstar Ford Calgary are by far the most unprofessional and unethical Ford dealership I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I am buying out of province, vehicle sight unseen, and paid in good faith a $1,000 deposit on the vehicle. The same day, financing fell through, so I was unable to proceed with the purchase. Northstar Ford Calgary have refused to reimburse me the deposit, so I am left $1,000 out of pocket. During the purchase process, the salesman called and text constantly. Since I have requested the deposit back, all e-mails and voice-mails are ignored. If you're looking for a dealership that values customer service and acts in a responsible, ethical and moral manner , I would advise you to look elsewhere. We recently purchased a 2019 Ford, Edge, Titanium form Northstar ford. Did the test drive, did the paperwork, that included an expensive administration fee, which to my understanding is NOT to be charged to the customer, made the payment, picked up the car and drove it home, upon getting it home did a closer look and discovered a scrape, on the right rear fender, I asked the sales guy about it, he advised that they knew about the scrape from when it was traded in, I asked them what they would do about the scrape, at the end of it all, after a story about internal costs and all of that, they offered to repair the scrape at cost, (We pay for their cost), which to me, was just a slap in the face, I do NOT recommend North Star Ford at all, a lot of nonsense over an administration fee that should not have been charged and a scrape where we were never verbally informed, nor was it documented. read more

Worst mechanical service ever had to deal with. 3 Strikes your out Starter replacement- bolt fell out after 6 months and a grand total of 1800km somehow not there fault and had to pay for labour and replacement bolt. Brake replacement went in with 4 hubcaps and came out with 2 claimed it only had 2 when came in BS. most recently 4/2019 Had tire sensor replaced for 160 dollars and had leak couple days later and thought I picked up a nail. don't drive very much so I didn't get it checked right away. took it to a professional tire shop for repair and told to take it back to the dealer at the tire sensor valve stem was ripped most likely from bad installation again 2 months later and only 2500km since repair. Would not repair it. Would have to pay for additional parts and labour again. so I refused and took it to a real mechanic shop. and imagine that was also 60 dollars cheaper. I bought an F150 truck and they took many hours to get me set up optimally. Since I leased my vehicle I have discussed my lease with some friends and coworkers and they cant believe what they did for me. Before it was Northstar Ford it was Crowfoot Ford I bought several vehicles there and at Universal Ford. My issue is with the service department or lack of professionalism in having my F350 Platinum Diesel properly diagnosed and repaired for check engine light. Went to pick up my truck the same issue nothing was done to correct the problem check engine light is still on. Had this been Universal Ford or Cam Clark they would have properly diagnosed the issue as it should be. There is a reason I stopped buying my vehicles at Northstar Ford Calgary and having them serviced there. This recent incident just refreshed my mind. I personally think Marty the owner of the Ford dealership needs to have a whole new service management staff that actually cares about customer service.. read more

Over and over terrible service. I paid for a oil change and a tire rotation. they charged me for both . I had marked my tires and they did not rotate them but charged me for them . I'm aware that almost every other review here suggests that they're atrocious in one way or another. I figured I'd share my experience as well, since it has been different. I bought my 2013 Escape here in January '13. The sales guy I dealt with, who is no longer there, was well-informed, friendly, and didn't push me anywhere I didn't want to go. I knew precisely what I intended to buy and he competently assisted me with that. Since then, I take my vehicle in regularly since I bought the pre-paid maintenance package. I have (almost always) been very happy with their service department. The guy I dealt with most every time is no longer there, but the new one I met just today seems helpful and earnest. I've been happy with North Star, and will continue to return there for my maintenance even though it's about as out-of-the-way from my home and work as it can get. But they've done good by me and earned my trust. read more

Had my breaks examined by these morons and after they were done they only tightened the lug nuts by hand and let me drive off the lot. Well a week later one lug nut fell off and all the other ones were lose on all 4 tires. Can you believe that? No checking, double checking or caring for that matter. A soon learned they had been dishonest with me and nothing they told me was true. When i asked for my deposit back they told me it was non refundable so my options are either to buy a truck that they lied about, or lose $1000 and go buy from a reputable dealership. Amazing Service! I went there to drop off my boyfriends car and expected a trying experience, what I got was completely opposite. I was helped by a young girl named Brittany (sp) and she was incredible! So sweet and understanding. Made me fully aware of extra things that could be done but didn't push them on me. She was very honest and helpful... Even gave me a bus ticket home! Have had the truck for just a little over a year and I am told that I need new tires with less than 25k on the mileage. There customer service is absolutely shit. They do not care in any way shape or form about what you have to go through as the customer. They don't acknowledge any of their mistakes they make. Both service managers act nice and pretend that they see where you are coming to just to put on a front. I asked for copies of all my reviews of my history of my vehicle and receipts and literally in the same reports there is something that says a battery looks good and then the next breath it says the battery is weak this happens multiple times different reports them saying that they're checking something for us to come back two weeks later complaining about something that they had apparently checked over again our vehicles there right now for the power steering as they replace the hose twice and apparently did all these test to see where the leak was coming from and now it is some tiny hair fracture in something that is going to cost us $1000 out of our pocket which should've been fixed the first time I'm no mechanic by all means but me being a logical person and you know having a brain would think that if there's a leak or something wrong with a certain part you would do all types of tests and not just play the hit and miss game with peoples money. The first time they fixed it lasted a couple months and now we are here again six weeks later after taking it in for the second time I told him that this customer service is not appreciated I've now been out of a vehicle for four days and they wouldn't even do the courtesy of giving me a loaner vehicle for free we've been there about eight times on and off in the last eight months to get to problems fixed again eight times going back-and-forth for two problems again they don't acknowledge their mistakes they do not take into consideration the time money and effort that the customer has to go through to deal with their vehicle. Only reason that the vehicle is with them right now is because we thought it would be under warranty but low and behold surprise it won't be because it's a new problem that they should've caught the first time.Clearly their mechanics and everyone working in the service department is in need of refreshment of customer service and what their actual job is. I'm writing this yet again so no one will have to go through what we have with them! It is with absolute regret that I have to go online and voice my opinion of the beyond horrible experiences I have had with North Star Ford. Absolutely in no way do they care about their customers or having a positive experience. I could write a 20 page review, I will keep it short. They put me into an unsafe vehicle on a three day road trip. I was told my vehicle was safe to drive, I was leaking fumes out the back exhaust and had clouds of thick white smoke the whole trip. I was actually pulled over by the police to ask if I was ok. My ford was already in the shop to have this fixed, they assured me at the service department, it was fixed and it was safe to drive. I have a text conversation with this confirmation. My 2015 ford explorer was in the shop for over 90 days on a span of 4 months. They replaced the turbos three times because they couldn't fix it the first time. Upon picking my car up 5 different times, there was something else wrong with it. They are by far the worst service shop I have ever experienced. If you can stay clear of them, I suggest you do. I spent over $800 on rentals and got my 2015 Ford explorer towed to them to have fixed three different times, my vehicle was not safe to drive. Every time I got it back from the shop there was something different wrong with it. 52 days straight my FORD was in the shop and they kept calling saying this was now broken, this now needed to be replaced. PLEASE, if I can prevent anyone from experiencing what I went through, I will do that! STAY AWAY from North Star FORD. See pictures and messages below. A couple of years ago, I was shopping for a brand new car. The service at North Star was pathetic. They wasted my time and were so disorganized. I have viewed, visited and considered BMW, Toyota and Hyundai at Crowfoot and the experiences do not compare. What is wrong with them. First thing was, I was shopping for a compact car and they tried to sway me into a SUV that they had excess of. Second the car that I was supposed to test drive was actually located at the dealership in Cochrane. Even though test drive was all prearranged, it took them over an hour to get it to Crowfoot for a test drive. Seriously, over an hour. Lastly, they were not interested in bargaining. Even though it was the end of the selling season, they were standing firm on the list price, minus $100. You are wasting your time with these fools. I implore you, Try somewhere else. read more

Brought my car in two weeks ago (early July 2019) and paid 220 dollars to have it looked at. They told me I needed a new transmission and quoted me $4,000 to do the job. I ended taking my car to a transmission shop in the area who told me they've never had to replace a transmission on my type of car and they managed to fix the issue (a linkage seizure) for $400 instead of $4,000 Northstar Ford wanted to charge me. When I went back to ford to ask about getting the 220 dollars I paid (for a misdiagnosis which conveniently would have made their shop $4,000 instead of the reasonably cheap fix that was needed) back. The manager was apparently busy/refused to talk to me and I was simply given his card to try and get ahold of him. I have left him a message and have yet to hear back about this. I will never be going back to Northstar Ford and encourage you to look elsewhere as well. Hoping I can at least get my money back for this gross and expensive misdiagnosis. read more

I had a cruze, it ran well minus the engine failure, and lack of support from shag chev... Very tainted history with Chev. So the wife and I decided, we would try something different, someone different. And we walked into Ford Northstar, passed it plenty of times when doing errands. Figured why not? Met with this rep Kevin, and realized for my work needs, I needed taller space for the various parts I work with. I also needed something reliable, long term use, and able to keep up with the miles I drive easily each year. Which landed us to a Ford Escape 2015 Titanium. Solid vehicle (seriously, love how it handled the snow in Late January). The sound is amazing, even hooked up a dashcam very easily. I haven't had a complaint about it, and even when we had a flat, under warranty they fixed it right up. When kevin listened and understood what I needed/liked, we landed the Escape because it had the best of both interests. Enough tork to keep going easily, but plenty of space for those big jobs, or moving events. If I had to buy again, I would certainly see him first. I strongly recommend choosing Northstar Ford, Especially Kevin, as he really listens to your needs, and gets you what you want and need in life. Very respectable. Thanks! Additional note, When working with Finance for the right plan to make this happen, Mike showed us the maintenance and warranty options, and we jumped right on them. They are a seriously worthwhile investment in the longevity of this vehicle. I seriously recommend these options when choosing. Northstar will upsell you on repairs that do not need to be performed and those that do need fixing won't be fixed, you will be back in a week fixing the same thing, whereby they will tell you something else needs to be fixed.
