The Memorial Union opened in 1956 and has since served as the central hub of student life on the Tempe Campus. The Memorial Union has its own core values including creating community, celebrating diversity, promoting and achieving excellence, embracing history and traditions, and fostering human development. There is a huge team of professional and student staff that run the Memorial Union (as well as the other unions and centers across the other campuses). ASU chose the name "Memorial Union" to serve as a living memorial for those who have courageously served our country in the military. There is a lot of history in the building. The Scoular Lounge (on the main level) is named after the Memorial Union's first director Cecelia Scoular. There are also more than 160 pieces of art making up the Memorial Union permanent art collection. These art pieces can be found along the walls of rooms and hallways throughout the building on all of the floors. There are 4 1/2 floors to the Memorial Union. On the lower level are a Digital Creative Studio, Wellness/Lactation Rooms, an Interfaith Reflection Room, lounges, meeting rooms, Burger King, Subway, Shake Smart, Sun Devil Card Services, Pat Tillman Veterans Center, Union Stage, and Sparky's Den with billiards and table tennis (but no longer bowling). On the main level are the Desert Financial Credit Union, the Pitchforks Dining Hall, Changemaker Central, the Information Desk, part of the Student Connection and Community office, the Safety Escort Service, the P.O.D. Market, the Sun Devil Hospitality Meal Plan Office, the Scoular Lounge, Starbucks, Einstein's, Chick-fil-a, Qdoba, Pei Wei, Choolaah Indian BBQ, Rosie's Bakery, Gigi's, and Bento. There is a mezzanine level with additional Student Connection and Community offices. On the second level are the Engrained dining room, Starlight Terrace, another Digital Creative Studio, many meeting rooms, the Arizona and Ventana Ballrooms, and a catering kitchen. On the third level are the New Student Orientation and ASU Family offices, the Event and Meeting Services and Sun Devil Hospitality Catering offices, and the Maroon and Gold program and Access ASU offices. I remember being at the Mariposa Cafe on November 1, 2007 for lunch when a fire broke out there leading to a closure of the Memorial Union for several months. The Memorial Union reopened its lower two floors in January 2008 with the rest of the building reopened in May 2008. I have spent many days, nights, and weekends in the Memorial Union for conferences, banquets, meetings, trainings, lunches, errands. study time, work time, shopping, and connecting with colleagues in offices on all floors. I was even there for a meeting today in the Alumni Lounge on the second floor of the building. I certainly encourage anyone visiting ASU to stop by the Memorial Union to check it out and be a part of history!

The park outside was excellent especially during nice weather. Plenty of room to do your asanas and pranayama. We received a free yoga tank top with "Be Present" emblazoned on the front and a sticker. I found them on Yelp event section, and I am so glad I went. I hope they offer more free yoga classes here!

If they don't have your book at a particular location, they will have it dropped off by the next day. What's good about this system is that each library tends to carry some, but not all the book in a particular author's series. I call it spreading the wealth around. So, it you're looking for that next Lee Child or WEB Griffin book, then if Palomino doesn't have it, then nearby Mustang, Arabian or Appaloosa might. Nice!

This library is clean, spacious and seems busy no matter what time I'm dropping by. The staff is really nice and helpful in helping you set up your library card. One thing that's quite obvious is If you're looking for a quiet library this one has a lot of tutoring going on at it which means that quite a few tutors have set up shop here and talking is not at library level. As far as parking is concerned, try coming at different times as its a challenging location because of the high school its attached to. Best times to come are not during school hours. Overall, this library is an awesome place and I'm glad I get a choice of more then one library.

Staff is friendly and very helpful - took less than 5 minutes to get a library card. The children's and young adult areas are part of the first floor. You can check out their events calendar online to see when their story time events, movie nights, and other socializing events are. There's also a room where you can have access to a variety of supplies, whether it be different tools for an art project, a 3d printer, and much more. The second hand bookstore is also here. I'm not sure what the basement floor is used for on the daily but I've been to one of their book sales down there. Second floor has the computers for adults, more books, and a seed library.

But the kids are being taught to play or read quietly so it isn't a day care, it's a great learning environment. We have been to the library a lot this summer, I find new ideas all the time. They even have classes Study areas over looking water and nice group places. I wish it was something people knew more about, I try and tell everyone how nice it is. And all the events. I'll keep spreading the word.

Though they were not able to help me with my specific issue, they again were kind and helpful. Even security, just doing their job, knuckleheads forgetting things in their pocket or my screwdriver key chain. He was kind, explained and made it painless. I always caveat, I hope to never have to visit these establishments for my own purposes but if I ever did, I hope it is an experience like the two I had at Tempe City Hall Courthouse.

It's a great place to escape the heat in general as are all libraries, but this one is in a residential neighborhood and is pretty quiet. It's got a little bit of everything you need with a bright and colorful kids section, lots of book stacks for grown ups, a respectable friends of the library book sale area, and even a little sitting area in the back of the library near the children's section for little ones to go out to and play outdoors under the covered patio which is pretty nice! I imagine it'd be ok to feed little ones some snacks or a quick meal out there also since it's outdoors. Sometimes kids just need to refuel. As far as the staff, they're friendly and helpful. They offer my kids a couple of bookmarks and also these certificates to go to Raising Cane's for a free kids meals for reading books, so my kids were quite happy and surprised that their recreational reading paid off! They were also delighted to find there's so many books they don't find in our own libraries so while we can't check these out, they enjoyed reading them there. Finally, there's a lot of programs offered through this library for all ages from educational to more entertainment/movies type events. Overall, we enjoyed our visit here and maybe we'll be back next time we're in the area visiting friends.
