After about a year and a half, when my daughter transitioned to pre-primary, we noticed a significant decline in care and services. The staff was rude, no communication, acting as if we were a bother when we would ask how our child's day was, her developmental milestones, anything was a bother. We could not go into her classroom to see what she was working on. I was told that I was "not allowed" in the classroom. I had a very uneasy feeling and questioned my daughter's safety. Not that they would harm her, but the fear of them not paying enough attention to her and monitoring her ( This was due to lack of communication and blatant rudeness)This was reported to the director several times, and we all discussed it and thought we had come to an understanding. Absolutely nothing changed. We noticed that the director stopped speaking to us at all. After that, my husband and I waited to see if things would get better. It never did. I had no idea what my daughter was learning, no updates, no communication at all. We then had another meeting with the director and she stated that these are the expectations, and we needed to adjust. We continued to be patient because we knew our daughter was transitioning again to Primary. Primary was pretty much the same. No communication. I am a teacher as well so teacher-parent communication is vital. My daughter was covered in a rash one evening and I messaged admin and staff on a Friday at 4:30pm (they close at 6:00pm)asking what she had eaten because she broke-out in a serious rash. No response. My husband saw her teacher that following Monday morning and she said " Oh, she didn't eat anything" Our concern was that it could have been very serious, and they showed no concern at all. I would not have had to ask them what she had eaten if they kept a daily record for the child. Once your child gets to Primary, there is no documentation on your child at all. They barely tell you when your child had an injury. I signed an injury form one day that I had no knowledge about. The staff need more training and are not very knowledgeable about child development and education. This is not a quality child development center, and the standards need to be set higher. It is simply just a daycare. Beware. My daughter no longer attends Camden Hill Montessori, we removed her 1 week ago. Removing her was the best decision we've made for her development and education.
