Initially, the dweebs at Geek Squad came to mind - but I've used them before and I have never been satisfied with the level of support or the response-time it takes to get someone to commit to helping me by a specified time. To me, the measure of a service provider is the turnaround time. I didn't have 5 days to wait, let alone 48 hours. So I nixed the Geek Squad and took to a local search on the Internet to see if I might find a genius who could nurse my laptop back to life and retrieve my docs. I located a local firm, Element 26, and sent an email inquiry highlighting my problem. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email and a call from Element26 within a few hours of my initial message. By the next day, my computer was operating once more. The gentleman was able to quickly diagnose the issues with my computer and went to work to fix my machine. Amongst the things he did was help partition the computer, eliminate some of the 'clutter' and things that were bugging my operating system that caused the system to crash and/or lock-up. I consider myself fairly advanced with computers, but whatever he did was more behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood-of-the-car-esque. My computer hasn't had a bit of problem since, but if it should, I'm going to speed dial Element 26. Definitely go to them if you're in need of computer support and you don't want to advertise to the world that you've got Geeks on-site who drive white-and-orange VW beetles. And if you're wondering - their guys looks like normal dudes with a healthy skin color who doesn't stay indoors all day to play World of Warcraft and computer games. I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at Eagle Postal. Here's why:…read more 1) The first time I visited, the solo employee there didn't wear a mask at all, even though a sign on the front door stated that masks are required for customers 2) The employee offered me ten percent off my purchase if I wrote a five star review. That's definitely a violation of Yelp's terms of service, and likely every other review site (and probably explains why this place has such a high rating on Google maps). 3) Most importantly: I was a ponytail of pandemic-chopped hair that I was sending to Locks of Love. A few days after I shipped it, the Locks of Love package was RETURNED to me for having insufficient postage, and I was shocked to see that Eagle Postal had applied only $1.80 worth of postage to it. I assume that they just pocked the remaining $3 I paid? Had this been a time-sensitive package, this could have been disastrous. I returned to Eagle Postal a few days after that (about a week after my first visit) and interacted with a different employee. I explained what happened. He took down my info, and assured me that when the manager came in, a refund for the package would be processed, and he'd be in touch. I never heard from them again, and never got a refund. I eventually went to the actual USPS post office to send the package; they told me that it cost $5 total, and that it had to be shipped as a package, not an envelope, which is why it was returned. 4) Less serious, but also suspicious: I also sent a sewing project in a bubble mailer I'd made for a friend. This package eventually made it to its destination, but it was shipped media mail (which is *very* cheap); it weighed very little and I was charged over $7 for it; it was a birthday gift and arrived very late. The employee didn't ask what was in the package; media mail is subject to stringent regulations, and my package didn't meet those rules and shouldn't have been classified as media mail. Don't use Eagle Postal unless you want your packages returned to you with insufficient postage!
