Northcutt Custom Homes is building a home for us this year on a 3 acre lot in the Ranchettes of Kingston Springs, TN. It is currently about 80% complete. We chose Northcutt because they built our son's house a few years ago, and we were happy with the experience and with the results. This is a family operated business with both husband (Vaden) and wife (Sarah) actively involved with each project. They are very fair, they are trustworthy, and they are fun to work with. We are fairly particular clients, bring with us lots of our own ideas. The Northcutts have always been willing to accommodate our requests. When we first talked with Vaden, we described to him the type of house and lot we were interested in. Vaden and Sarah had in their inventory a lot that perfectly suited our needs, and they sold it to us at a reasonable price. After purchasing a houseplan over the internet, Vaden helped us with the site plan and with the construction details. We have met with him at the construction site several times this year to review the work and to make decisions about next steps. Sarah put together the contract, she helped us with material selection and choice of interior elements, and she ordered all the materials when needed. Because Vaden and Sarah work together so closely, miscommunication and mistakes are held to a minimum. Northcutt Custom Homes has a good working relationship with many of the very best subcontractors in the area. These subs know what is expected of them and they work hard to please. Northcutt Custom Homes is very aggressive in their scheduling. Often there are three or four building activities going on at the same time. Northcutt Custom Homes was great to work with. As first time buyers and builders, Vaden and Sarah were very helpful throughout the whole process of building our custom home. Vaden handles the construction and Sarah manages the interior design and initial planning. In the age of Pintrest, HGTV, Etsy, etc., we challenged them to do certain projects they might not have done in the past and most were accomplished. If not, there was a legitimate reason something could not be done. They were available on the phone or able to meet whenever we needed them, they communicate really well. We did not experience any unexpected expense overages. They finished on time and on budget. We were able to order unique items ourselves and have them install them such as a Big Ass ceiling fan, custom farm sink, and kids airplane lighting to name a few. We did throw them curveballs and add or deviate from the original plan several times and each time they were accommodating to our requests. Sarah and Vaden shoot straight and are transparent, they made the building process really exciting. We look forward raising our kids in this awesome industrial farmhouse for years to come.
