Dan is absolutely amazing! He is very knowledgeable and reasonable. I would go without an appliance to wait for him!

We called Northeast Appliances (Boonton, NJ) on September 23, 2024, because our cooktop's two large burners had visible ignition sparks but would not ignite. We explained this clearly over the phone and even noted that the burners could be lit manually. When the repairman arrived, he simply confirmed what we had already described, made no attempt to diagnose or repair the problem, and charged $106 for a so-called "diagnostic visit." He then told us the only solution was to replace the entire cooktop for $4,900 -- an absurd suggestion. We later contacted Appliance Care Expert, who quickly and professionally replaced two burners for only $475, and the cooktop now works perfectly. Northeast Appliances provided no real service, only a high-pressure upsell and a pointless fee. Very disappointing experience -- I would never use or recommend them. read more

There's not much that I can add to previous reviews and what other users have already said about Dan... except that I agree with all of them and he exceeded our expectations at every step of the way! His prices are more than fair, his communications are timely, he's friendly and honest. We scheduled an appointment for his service and he even called earlier to tell us he had another cancellation and could fit us in ASAP. Dan skillfully repaired our 17-year-old washing machine and advised us not to buy a new one... to just keep repairing this one as long as we could because "they don't make them now like they used to". On his visit, we threw two other repairs at him that we have been procrastinating on. Dan replaced an ice maker on a 17-year-old fridge as well as a quick service on our same aged stove top. I am SO glad I was recommended Northeast Appliance Service by neighborhood moms. Our fridge recently stopped working and I ended up getting scammed by another company, who basically took our money and never responded when we had issues again (within 2 weeks of fixing). Talk about great customer service! I called to have my LG refrigerator repaired. They advised that they don't repair LG but asked if I had a cooling problem. When I responded yes, they advised that compressors were a known issue with LG and my compressor was covered under a 10 year warranty. I didn't know this. They saved me hundreds!! read more

I'm a bit late with this review but better late than never. I had the pleasure of working with Dan on two occasions. The first occasion involved a dryer that simply would not work. Dan eventually got it fixed and I got a working dryer. The second occasion involved a broken washing machine. Well, just had to leave a second review. Dan has bailed us out on several repairs over the last few years, and this time was no different. This was a particularly gnarly affair with an arcing, smoking and misbehaving retractable downdraft ventilation system. Dan came the first time, broke it down and suspected it was a more concealed problem, and came back a second time to find two bad switches on the control motor. Very difficult access, time consuming, and not a little grimy. He was persistent and knowledgeable and ultimately saved us from facing a very expensive replacement and retrofit. Not many tech's would have taken the time and made the effort to find and repair the problem. He went above and beyond with courtesy and professionalism. Dan was awesome. We called, left a message, and he called us back in under 10 minutes. Told us he would be here between 9 and 11, and called us on the day to let us know exactly what time he would be there. It's so incredibly refreshing to know when to expect someone. His base price is $60 to come out (which already is cheaper than most in the area) and he did everything in his power to get our dishwasher fixed. When it was apparent that it wasn't getting better, he clearly laid out his prices for parts and services it might need, gave us a couple options, and he would credit the $60 from today's visit towards the repair if we called him within 90 days. He was also very gracious and patient with his recommendations if we wanted to look into a new dishwasher. There is a reason Dan has a 5 star review. I recently purchased a home and noticed our fridge was 'sweating'. I called Dan and he said he charged a $60 diag fee that went toward the repairs. He came to my house same day. He was here about 45 min, called the manufacturer and did a full diag. Turns out the fridge was fine and it was just by design. Dan came to evaluate an issue that I was having with my Dacor double oven very quickly. After checking the whole thing over, he explained my options and what each would cost- which was very reasonable. He was professional, kind and conscientious. He made some adjustments, rather than replacing the whole computer panel that would have been costly- and my oven is working great! Now (weeks later) I called him about my gas cook top continuously firing- even when the burners are turned off. He ran me through a few things to try over the phone and together we solved the problem without him even coming out! No charge! I stumbled into Dan & Northeast via a Google search of local service people, and I'm glad I did. First, Dan has a $60 "walk in the door" service charge, which is considerably lower than others. On his first visit to repair my Samsung washer, her spent close to three hours, taking the machine apart, diagnosing the issue, and ultimately putting it back together. That was $60, and he earned it. His suppliers did not have access to the parts needed, and Dan hinted that a new washer might be in order. I conducted an exhaustive internet search and finally found the required parts at essentially the same price Dan had estimated, had he been able to get them. Parts were delivered, and Dan returned last evening (yes, this guy works into the night hours!) to dis-assemble my washer, install the new parts, and re-assemble the machine. He tested his work, did a stellar job of cleaning up, and charged what I feel was a more than reasonable rate for his time, expertise and professionalism. Dan is courteous, prompt, professional and above all, honest. I'm hoping I don't have a need for appliance repair again in the future, but if I do, Northeast Appliance is getting the call and my business. read more
