On August…read more6, 2026, I brought my 6' x 3' Oriental rug to Bedford Rugs for cleaning and repair of the rug's edge. Bedford Rugs gave me a written estimate of $395 and told me the work would take approximately three weeks. A few days ago, Bedford Rugs contacted me to say that my rug was ready for pickup and sent me a photograph of it. When I went to pick it up on August 26, Bedford Rugs told me that they had made a mistake measuring the rug and that the cost was actually $535 rather than the $395 estimate he had given me in writing. A 35% increase. I was surprised and upset that I was not told about this additional $140 charge until the work had already been completed. If there was a problem with the original estimate, I believe I should have been contacted before the work was completed and given the opportunity to approve the additional cost. Bedford Rugs also told me that they had shown my rug to another rug dealer and that the rug was wanted for purchase. I found this comment very troubling, especially in the context of the unexpected increase in the price of the work. This is a rug that I have owned and carefully preserved for many years. I did pay the $535 by credit card because I wanted to get my rug back, but I did not feel that I had been given a fair opportunity to agree to the higher price before the work was completed. I have rarely written a negative review about a business, but I feel other customers should know about my experience. I was very disappointed with the way this situation was handled and did not feel that it was professional or fair. I would strongly recommend getting any estimate from Bedford Rugs confirmed in writing and making sure that you are notified and agree to any additional charges before the work is done. Or better yet, find another Rug store

Rug depot carpeted both of our staircases almost immediately after we came in and picked out our carpet choice. The service was speedy and affordable. Also, rug depot is a family owned business. The staff here are caring, helpful and honest. Chris does the installations, his father helps with carpet selection and specifications for your location and his mother works on scheduling and coordination. Together, they run a great show and really take care of their customers. We love Chris. He really helped us find the best carpet for our home, tolerated our crazy toddlers running around in the store and in our home, our barking dog :) and also installed our carpets to perfection. He even drove back to the store and rescheduled our second installation because he wanted to make sure the job was done right. He even made two carpets for us out of the leftovers from the job free of charge! A big thank you to the Rug Depot owners. I wish every store was like yours. You guys are awesome. We will recommend you to everyone we know. I also included pictures of sample rugs we took at the store because the selections are great quality and beautifully handcrafted.

As soon as I walked in, I wondered why it had taken me so long to check it out. Located in an old warehouse, CMI doesn't have that warehouse feel. A good size room, filled with hand-braided rugs and baskets, the place is cheerful and inspiring. Even though I wasn't looking to buy anything, I just couldn't resist purchasing a Pawtucket rug (made from scraps of fabric) and a basket (perfect for storing those odds and ends). The staff were friendly and helped with moving rugs, giving the background to how they are made, and helping to roll them up for take away. While I was there during a huge sale, it seems that even the normal prices are pretty reasonable, as it was, I got a full area rug for less money that my IKEA rug cost me. And it is more beautiful, better made, and local. S This place has been there for 20 years, and is still a hidden gem.
