We went with a colored stamped concrete. The color was good and the concrete has held up with only a few minor cracks. It snowed a day after the pour so we didn't notice two pretty major mistakes. First on the front patio, there is a large area where they missed the concrete stamping. Then on the back patio, apparently one of the workers walked across it while the sealant hadnt fully cured and left footprints, still visible two years later. After several back and forth with Larry the owner (numerous excuses), he said he would make it good by refunding some of our money. Well, you know how that went. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!! read more

Larry Lohmann, the owner of Northern Colorado Concrete did an excellent job in replacing our 31 year old 1,500 sqft driveway. Larry was very responsive from the beginning. A quote for the job was provided the day I called. They poured the following week, with Larry overseeing the job and answering my numerous questions. He was very professional, with a great sense of humor, and a smile. His price was the most competitive, beating out other bids by more than 10%. The concrete he poured was 4,500 PSI, 1,000 PSI higher than his competitors. I also included rebar. He follows up, making sure that the job turned out like we expected. His crew was also very professional. I thoroughly researched this company prior to selecting Northern Colorado Concrete. Avoid at all costs! The owner Larry is the most unprofessional person we have ever dealt with and the office manager Aime just disappeared. Larry is rude and dishonest. We had a patio poured with colored concrete on Day 1 followed by a Release product they recommended on Day 2. We paid in full on Day 1 as the concrete color was correct but the Release on Day 2 was either the wrong color or not applied correctly. We reported this problem to Aime right away (whom we had successfully emailed with numerous times prior to the onset of the project). She said she would tell Larry about the problem. A few days later Larry came out to look at the patio and said we had to wait another 28 days for it to become what we ordered. That had never been told to us before. He was rude, condescending and completely unprofessional. Well, after 28 days it looks exactly as it did on Day 2. We emailed Aime again many times with absolutely no response. Finally after a few more weeks, Larry called saying that Aime doesn't check her email regularly (however she responded right away until after they were paid in full). Now Larry says he'll come rip out the patio and do it over. The pergola being built over the patio has been delayed for 2 months now and at this point we just want a partial refund. We'll live with their mistake but to this date no refund has been issued. And no further communication from either Larry or Aime. Stay away from Northern Colorado Concrete! Do not use this company. They used the wrong color of concrete to start with. We went ahead and paid them most of what we agreed to knowing that they had their crew who did the work to pay and that they would work with us to change the color when they sealed it. Now they aren't calling us back to come back to seal it and fix the color. It has been the worst experience and I regret ever agreeing to use them. Luckily we have everything recorded and on video, but now we have to start over while our attorney deals with this mess of a company. Hopefully they go out of business soon so no-one else ends up in the same boat as us. Pretty sure they are close to going out of business. read more

Larry the most belligerent person I have every communicated with. He likes the 'F' bomb a lot - yelling it too. Even when he is 100% in the wrong it is not his fault. I'd rather walk in mud in expensive dress shoes than have him lay concrete for me. read more

Great Work! They came and gave an estimate the same day we called. Due to weather delays the job was done in two weeks, otherwise would have been done the same week we called. They did a great job at a great price. Moved lawn sprinklers and added gutter extension through the concrete at no extra cost. Looks fantastic! read more

The sales pitch: "We have been in business for over 40 years" "We do commercial work and work for the city" Then, using a drive newly replaced by another company as an example of their standards, we were told that if their work looked like it, "we would tear it out and redo it" Larry Lohmer, owner. The driveway looked very nice to us, so we were impressed with the high standards and felt it was worth an estimate slightly higher than two other competitors we were considering for the replacement of 9 driveways, 11 walkways and 3 curbs. The reality: Work was rushed, sloppy. Cement was left in the grass, in rock gardens, on sidewalks, and on driveways that weren't even repaired. The street and gutters were a mess with all forms of debris. It took us (not them) more than 3 hours to clean it and 3 months later, we're still finding globs of cement in bushes, rocked areas and gardens that weren't even CLOSE to the new concrete. We had 48 holes punctured in our irrigation lines, including one massive PVC line, 19 damaged sprinkler heads, 8 that were cemented shut. They ineptly and begrudgingly repaired some, not all. My husband had to redo about a third of that work, then repair the rest that THEY did do as problems were discovered while running the irrigation system. Seams were uneven, some drives have wavy surfaces, one curb surface has large "stains" that we were told would eventually go away (no change), There was cement on garage doors, decorative flowerpots, garden art , patio furniture and window well covers. We were considered "difficult" customers because we asked them to clean it! Footprints were left in wet cement and then tracked onto sidewalks not to mention sloppy patchwork of missing chunks created in existing concrete. One walkway cracked within 48 hours of pouring. NoCo Concrete was contacted immediately and said they weren't responsible for cracks. but that they would install a joint as a fix. It went as far as drawing a straight red line to where the joint would go but was never done, then determined it wasn't feasible. The walkway is still cracked and NOW has a big red line running across it. In the meantime, this same resident now has a large crack running across her new driveway. We've had to continually do "walk throughs" to assess what needs to be completed and repaired. Shouldn't they (the "experts") know what needs to be done for anything not up to "their standard"? We've had them "repair and clean-up" on three different occasions and after more than 3 months, it's still not done. Before the cement had even begun to dry, they were knocking on doors seeking payment. As one of 11 residents in our subdivision having work done, we did NOT pay and won't until we are satisfied that the remaining clean-up and repair is completed for all of our neighbors. Withholding payment was the only leverage we had to assure they would have an incentive to complete the work and it's apparently not a significant incentive. We are the point of contact for our HOA, so WE field the complaints from the neighbors, not NoCo. We advise (should anyone even THINK to contract with this company) that you do NOT pay until you are completely satisfied with the work. That will take some time, so be patient even when they pressure you for payment. Take at least 30 days. We regret not having gone with A-Concrete out of Loveland - high quality, more service, less cost. They could have done our job for $5 less per square foot AND included power washing plus a sealant. They probably wouldn't have destroyed our irrigation system in the process either. If you want to see the kind of work that NoCo Cement does, drive through College Green Corner at 47th Ave and 16th Street . Look at the new driveways and curbs. Check out the stained walks, gutters and street. Look at the surfaces of the drives and the seams. This is the reality, not the sales pitch, of NoCo standards and what the job looks like after weeks of clean-up, and repair. read more

We were told that as they were creating the forms, to let them know if something wasn't to our liking, because once the forms are up and the concrete poured, it can't be changed. Well, we saw that the steps looked smaller than we were hoping for, so we asked the foreman if he could make them larger by 6 inches. He says ok and makes them larger. Later, after they had finished and we had paid, we got a nasty phone call from the owner, demanding more money. For what? The steps. They were no longer the 'standard size'. How would I know that? No one told me what a standard size outdoor patio step was. The step we had removed was much larger than what she claimed was 'standard'. The foreman didn't tell us there was a standard size nor did he mention that our modification would cost extra. We are happy to pay for extra work when necessary, but we should have been told it would cost extra. She then threatened to take the money out of her foreman's pay if we didn't pay it and proceeded to practically yell at us while pointing out all the little 'extra' things they did for us that she says she could have charged for. Very unprofessional. The concrete looks nice, but the poor communication really soured the experience. I would go elsewhere. read more

Project finished early and on budget for both me and my neighbor across the street. My neighbor had a basic concrete walkway demo'd and repoured (approx. 300 sq ft) and we had an old concrete slab removed and a new 500 sq ft stamped concrete patio put in. I have nothing but good things to say about N. CO Concrete and both Sarah and Larry were a true pleasure to work with. They arrived early or on time, they were very responsive to our calls, emails and texts and the price was substantially lower than other quotes we received (about $4/sq ft lower than other concrete companies). What a professional crew too! They brought in a crew of about 8-10 people with 5 trucks and got busy demo'ing old concrete right away -- took less than 1 hour. The project was supposed to run 2-3 days with demo, forms, pour, cleanup and it took less than 1 full day - WOW. Same thing for my neighbor - the job was completed much faster than we anticipated. The crew were polite, great communicators, and cleaned up after themselves (concrete spills, trash, etc). We both agreed that we would definitely hire N. CO Concrete again for any of our future concrete needs. read more

Steer clear of this company. They do horrible work and refuse to accept responsibility for their mistakes. They are only interested in one thing, and that's getting paid. Once they have you're money, you can kiss off any kind of satisfaction of getting a quality product in return. Larry refuses to conduct himself with any sense of professionalism or reason. He will lie, yell, cry, change his story, deflect blame back to his customers, or anything else he can do to avoid his responsibility for the poor quality his crew delivers. Do yourself a favor and find a different company for any concrete needs you may have, otherwise, you will be disappointed, and you will feel like you've been ripped off. Also, do not believe in the BBB rating this company has. Over the years they have learned how to game the system to maintain their rating, while leaving their customers holding the bag. They make it so difficult, time consuming, and stressful to try to gain any sort of action, I'm convinced the majority of people who have problems simply give up on any sense of resolution because they have been run so thoroughly through the ringer. read more

I am extremely disappointed in Northern Colorado Concrete. I spent over $12,000 on a couple of projects last summer and this summer. I cannot fathom that they won't even take the time of day to return phone calls, or follow through with requested appointments. I get lame excuses that Larry is sick, Larry's truck isn't working and needs to go to the shop, or that they totally spaced out the appointment. In the last two weeks, I have scheduled and rescheduled four appointments with Danielle (Secretary). They don't show up for appointments! This last week they were supposed to come to my house on Friday and they didn't. I called them to make sure that they were coming and Danielle seemed like that the appointment didn't exist and didn't have a good excuse. I took time off of my work schedule to do this appointment (Upsetting). So, trying to be nice and work with them I scheduled an appointment for Saturday and no one even showed up... nor did I get a phone call from them. Some of the work I had completed... One slab of concrete (For a patio)that was poured is cracking and peeling away due to it being poured incorrectly. The guys that poured it pulled off the forms too quickly and it pushed outwardly toward my fence. It does not look like it was professionally done. It needs to be fixed or replaced. I feel taken advantage of and don't appreciate the poor treatment from a business that has been going for 40 years. At this point, I would not recommend them for concrete work. read more

Horrible company to work with. The experiences of several other people are exactly the same as what we had. Our concrete started cracking 3 weeks after being installed. I was told it was "bad karma" on my part. Less that 2 years later the surface of the driveway is crumbling, and chipping away in chunks along the edges. The crack on the patio was expanding and chipping. I have tried talking to Larry several times but to no avail. He accused me of yelling, having a bad "attitude" and causing the damage myself. I filed complaints with BBB which he never responded to. I would stay as far away from this company as possible. The fact that 6 comments are being stated as not valid on Yelp is dishearting. We had Northern Colorado Concrete out to our house for a concrete patio. We had just had our driveway redone by a different company the day before and let Northern Colorado Concrete know this. As if the verbal warning and the neon orange tape around the driveway weren't enough, Northern Colorado Concrete ignored these warnings and brought their wheelbarrows, heavy equipment, and tools onto the driveway that hadn't fully cured from its new concrete. It's ironic that a concrete company that SHOULD know the rules of curing concrete would ruin another concrete job in this manner. After I received several phone calls from neighbors letting me know Northern Colorado Concrete was ruining our new concrete driveway, I talked to the laborers and Larry (owner of company). Larry is a JOKE - super trashy with pitiful customer service. The fact that this company still exists is SHOCKING. read more

Hired these guys in May. Within 12 hours of finishing my slab it settled and cracked badly. Been trying ever since to get them to fix it. Don't return phone calls. Don't manage their help. Don't check finished product. Don't show up at appointments. These people put on a good face. Don't fall for it. We have been trying to get them to fix their problems for months. They agreed there were problems that needed fixed. (Only reason they came out was to do another bid and that took some time to get them here). Now they won't return calls and the appointments we were able to set up they never showed. They will also want payment before the job is done. Won't even get the money in person. You have to give it to their crew. Check reviews as they have a reputation for everything I have mentioned. The owner Larry is a scam artist and should be ashamed of himself. We told them not to angle the concrete toward the House. So what did they do, they agled it toward the house, it leaked water in the house. Then to try to fix it they put a bandaid over and of course that didn't work. When I told them they would need to redo that section of concrete they quit returning our phone calls. Larry and his team recently replaced my driveway and they were great to work with. They were on time, thorough and the end result was excellent. They beat their competitor's price, and they followed up with good customer service. I am fairly picky about who I work with on big projects like this. My expectations were high, but I was not disappointed. The price we discussed and the price they quoted was the price they charged when they finished project. There were no surprises. With that said, I would encourage anyone who is considering a concrete project to do a little research before they call any contractor. Understanding the process and the options makes it easier to discuss the details with the contractor and set expectations. This helped a great deal during the quoting process. Difficult to work with. They Rescheduled twice. they rinsed all their tools in our landscaping so now we have clumps of concrete in our stone walkway. They did not communicate what to do with the patio afterwards. They showed up to seal the patio without letting us know and again not saying a word about how to care for it. The edges are rough, the textures are not uniform, when the sealed it they added patches in a completely different color. The seal is cracking.......stay away! read more

Only about two months after our driveway concrete was laid, it not only started severely cracking, but several places were chipping and crumbling as well. After Larry was notified, he looked at the driveway and said he would see what he could do to repair it "when he was not so busy." We called him several more times and he actually showed up once more and told us the same sad story. Now that the warranty period has expired he is refusing to do anything about the serious problems because "...the warranty has expired." He knew very well there were serious problems long before that time and simply waited for the warranty to expire so he felt he would have no obligation do anything. Now, he even refuses to answer any complaints we have lodged with the Better Business Bureau. I strongly urge anyone considering doing business with NCC that they find another company who will treat them better - and more honestly and with better business and personal ethics. Awful experience with this company. We had our patio expanded across the back of the house and were given a bid that was signed by them. We had to keep calling them to get the job done. The owner chased me down after work and demanded payment the very day they did the job, I hadn't even seen the work yet as I hadn't been home from work yet. He added more money to the cost and when I disagreed he became very threatening and belligerent with me so under pressure I had to pay them more than the bid was for sight unseen for the job. We also had to clean up their mess. This seems to be a standard operating procedure for this company I will not recommend them to anyone ever. read more

This company provided me with reasonable pricing for a concrete stamped patio with coloring. Although we were initially excited about having this completed, I learned they were not going to put rebar or mesh reinforcement in the slab as is almost always standard practice. They were already setting the forms and everything else up for the concrete to be poured so it cost me extra for standard minimal rebar at the last minute. Then after they poured and stamped the concrete they didn't wash it the next day or seal it, also COMMON STANDARD PRACTICE. I called and texted both Sarah Kirk, the secretary, and her father, Larry Lohman. I left several voicemails and text messages never to be returned even though they had no problem cashing my $3580 check I gave them for the ENTIRE job. As if it wasn't frustrating enough, my wife then called from her phone number and was able to get in contact with Sarah immediately indicating Sarah knew my number and was just avoiding talking to me. She then told the wife that they would come wash the slab but standard sealing would cost additional. A ridiculous thought as this was never explained and is unsual for a company not to provide in this field. I had to work around my work schedule in order to accommodate this company to come to my home. In conclusion, really sincerely if this business would provide the product they advertise, even shown on their website, I would be happy. If I seal it myself, this will void any warranty they provide and based off other BBB complaints and Yelp reviews this seems to be an all to familiar occurrence with this business. The slab needs to be sealed in the near future, not weeks or a month, and I would be content. The owner quoted us a price, and said he would beat any other bid as we had another company coming to bid. They both came back at the same amount. We called this company to negotiate the final price. The crew began the work, and completed the forming only. Then he tells me the price it going to be considerably more than what he thought and we needed to pay a significant amount more and he was getting forceful and pushy at that point. Now our sump pump is backing up as they didn't extend it correctly. Not only do we feel cheated, but now we have to correct the work that wasn't done properly in the first place. Of course the owners became more and more belligerent as the communication between us and them continued causing us to be more and more uncomfortable so under extensive pressure we ended up paying him the larger amount.
