    Chaga Matcha on ice!
    Brittany L.

I wandered into the gem with my partner the day after Thanksgiving and was greeted by the cutest, sweetest barista in a pink hat. She was already tending to other customers, but she was quick to let us know she saw us and was back in a flash to help us out. She took the time to help me figure out how I could sweeten my drink a tad more, but not kill the healthy - which I greatly appreciated! I ordered the ChagaMatcha and it was DEEEEEEELICIOUS! My partner ordered a drink they had run out of a few ingredients for, but she promised they would be back within a few days time and her friendly demeanor and kind smile just made ya' nod your head and say, "we'll be back!" The cafe itself is cute and cozy. They had chess, checkers, and a cozy couch for snuggling on. We didn't get anything to munch on this trip, but everything smelled delicious. I definitely plan on returning, bonus points for the incredibly beautiful staff member who helped us. I wish I had asked your name. You were a peach and the drinks were great! No

What a cute shop! I wandered in while waiting for someone to meet me elsewhere and was delighted to see several vegan items on their menu! The prices are reasonable and the selection is perfect for light bites and drinks for both plant based and omnivores. The gentleman at the counter was super nice and helpful. Thru have plenty of free street and lot parking. Hours are 8-3 daily I believe. So happy to have found this spot in downtown Utica!

This morning, my hubby was craving the Lox Bagel, so we made a trip back to Nothern Grind. It was a completely different experience from our first time, and while our first time wasn't terrible, this visit blew us out of the water. The manager was extremely friendly and welcoming. Took our orders and even made some suggestions along the way. I was apprehensive to try another iced coffee, but I figured WTH. My Iced Filthy Chai Tea Latte was exactly everything I never knew I needed. My husband tried another smoothie (Peach), and he said he couldn't drink it fast enough. She was even kind enough to give me a sample of the Chaga Matcha (with lavender & honey) OMG now I HAVE to go back..if only for that drink. It was a great way to start our rainy Sunday morning. Good music. Great vibes. Excellent service!

Cute place! Perfect escape from the snow outside. Ordered a brown sugar latte and cake pop for my kid. Very clean and the nicest, friendliest staff!

I was pretty excited to try this place since it is so close and brining more business to downtown Utica. I don't like coffee but this is what my husband had to say about it: "it's a bakery that sells coffee". He was not impressed with the coffee (he is a "coffee snob" as I call it but he roasts at a local roastery). He says Michigan has tons of great roasteries and they should have chosen a different one. He also commented on the lack of pour over style coffees. I got the raspberry iced tea, which was very sweet. He enjoyed his cookie and it was very moist. My muffin was a little dry and tasted "day old". Overall I hope they succeed and we will likely be back to try the other desserts and ice cream.

Desperately needed to grab a coffee and get some some work done and stumbled across Northern Grind. This place will probably become my go-to when I need a spot to just chill and relax. The iced mocha is one of the best I've had in the area. I also got the black bean quesadilla, and it was delicious. The staff is super sweet and helpful. It's such a cozy place to be.

This little place has been open just about a month and it was a nice place to work this morning. I'm in town on business and wanted somewhere that wasn't Starbucks. I got a hot vanilla oat milk latte and it was lovely. Great music and apparently they have ice cream!

Coffee is pretty good. Reason I'm giving such a great review is because I love the vibe, the staff, and the small town, small business feel.

Best part about this coffee shop is you can order a regular coffee if you want one. No latte required! The berry scones are excellent also.

This is part of a multi-use group of buildings and they seem to have the prime spot right at the corner. When I walked in, I was welcomed by a clean and pleasant space with high ceilings and green and gold decor. It's all new and there is a variety of seating types. I chose to sit at a small table near the side entrance. They have so many great food and beverage options, it was hard to choose. The nice young lady who took my order was very patient with me - I had lots of questions being my first time here. I ended up with a Mocha Pearls drink, Nutella Dubai Baklava, and an Almond Croissant. The drink was supposed to have chocolate pearls in it but I suppose since I ordered it hot, they melted. It basically tasted like a chocolate mocha so I would like to come back and try something different next time. The baklava sent me to the moon and back - I love chocolate baklava and it's hard to come by. Add the "Dubai" crunch kataifi with pistachio and I'm done! It was amazing! The Croissant was served warm and it had an almond paste inside. Soooo fresh and good! I love the attention to details and the care they took to serve everything so visually appealing. I appreciate that added touch. I will be back - and likely often!

In all fairness, I'm probably not the target market here - they have a huge drink menu with lots of different syrups and flavorings but I'm more of a no frills coffee person. The first time I got a plain latte and it was just ok, so this time I tried one of their specialties - the Mont Cloud. I assumed it would be mostly coffee and some cream but I guess it was a cloudy day because it was mostly cream (and ice) for $7. I also decided to try the basbusa because I've never had it before, but again ended not being up my alley since it's syrup-soaked. Oh well. The inside is decorated really cute and there's lots of different kinds of seating. They also have an outdoor patio area. Free parking since this coffee shop is located in a little strip mall. 3.5 stars overall.

In fact, a few years before, they built a questionably-located apartment building in the middle of parking lot so view of the place is utterly and completely blocked from the road. The place is cavernous and has plenty of hangout space and tables for groups. I've been here three times, mainly when the place is empty and I am the only one or close to the only present. But the barista/staff have always been very pleasant and kind, which is a bonus. There's ample parking (church/former theater, remember?). The place has great natural light and comfortable couches. It's a very good place to grab a latte and chill, by yourself or with others. Unlike other places, they're not blasting music to drown out all conversations and there's very little echo to the place, never mind how large it is. They even post a welcome sign to hangout; just don't bring outside food/beverages. In today's environment when people are looking for a place to be legit chill, they have plenty of places to choose from. Panera and Starbucks are annoyingly loud/rude and corporate. I'd rather choose local. Choose this place at least once or before you know it, we won't have as many of them.

The food didn't take too long and we all liked our drinks! The food itself was good but nothing too special. There's a lot of options to choose from so I would come again to try their other things with a friend.
