Providentially, we found around the corner @lighthousecoffeemc! After we had a most wonderful, redemptive experience I had to learn more about the name. This is a nonprofit cafe, helping teens that have aged out of the foster system. LOVE. THIS. IDEA. I did not realize how much that cup of Mexican Mocha was going to a good cause! Heartwarming. When we walked in, we were greeted and welcomed openly. The vibe was superchill. Very spacious. I would suggest they add few real potted plants to warm up the place. They've done alot of work on the space and it looks great...and I know that their main focus is on the coffee, but we were not thrilled with the hot chocolate: it wasn't hot (merely warm-fish) and it wasn't very chocolate-y, either, and we were surprised that it wasn't better. Champagne Chocolates, just a block or so away, would have been a better choice for us...but we did enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance at Black Cat and we'll be back to sample their coffee on our next visit.
