Rich Gobbell and his team at Northern Lights Electric did an excellent job of adding ten LED lights into the vaulted living room ceiling (seven art spots and three site specific floods). They also hung my antique light fixture, perfectly centered over the dining table, and added necessary dimmer switches. Rich handled obtaining two permits for the work (Rossmoor and Walnut Creek), the inspection, made sure that the work was done properly to code, plus brought in a top notch painter to do patching and painting. The team is incredibly professional. They look care to protect our floors and furnishings with plastic and drop cloths and quickly installed all the lights (with dimmers). I almost never do reviews....but this time I felt compelled. I have now used Rich and his team at Northern Lights twice, and both times, I was super impressed with the quality of their work, and their responsiveness, and expertise. They took meticulous care of our home, and truly were a one stop shop. Not only were they able to install lights, switches, and even a Flat Panel tv into a wall (yes, actually built into the wall!), they matched the texture of the walls, and even repainted, perfectly matching the existing colors! The second time we used them, we also had a very obscure color for the switch plates, and they searched all over until they found a perfect match with the rest of the house. Very impressive. The second time I used them, I didnt even feel compelled to get a second bid. While I know they may not always be the cheapest, if you want to feel confident that they will do a quality job, Rich and his Northern Lights crew are simply the best. Rich at Northern Lights had was very timely in getting a bid and getting his team on our large project of lighting up our entire house with LED lighting and miscellaneous electrical. He's team was very friendly, courteous, professional and efficient. The quality of work was outstanding as they put 28 recessed lighting cans and had to rewire and add numerous switches; they did it with almost no impact to the existing walls. They also put outlets behind flat panel TV and cleaned up all of the wiring for very clean look. We also had several other outlets added outside for additional power access. They repaired, textured and painted the drywall where two sconces were removed and included other minor touchups to drywall. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. We hired Northern Lights to do some move-in electrical work to upgrade our new home. Our projects included: installing recessed lighting, setting up our internet, installing a wire-free setup for our wall-mounted TV, adding extra wall outlets, updating our fusebox, rewiring all our bedroom lighting fixtures and setting up an ethernet internet cable in multiple rooms. Had Northern Lights put recessed lights in my kitchen after having a kitchen remodel done 4 yrs ago. The job was done on time and the lights looked good. The old lights were of the old style box framed florescent type. When they took the box down it left old texture marks all over. Rich had a drywall company he uses fix the ceiling and they did a great job matching the existing ceiling. Overall good job. The only reason not five stars, a little pricey. After talking with a few electricians about the project we had, Rich is the only one who took things seriously enough to want to come out and give me an estimate based upon what he saw. He was on-time, professional and gave me a fair quote. I'm sure I could have gotten a slightly lower quote, but I like to go with local vendors in Danville if I can, and I also wanted somebody I could trust to do great work in my house. Cheapest isn't always best. Rich and his guys showed up on the agreed day and time, and got right to work. They installed 4 lights on my house in the back yard, with the associated conduit. They did a nice job putting it a place that concealed about half the conduit. The other half couldn't be concealed, but it was a nice clean job. They also installed some covered outlets outside for low-voltage lighting, they rewired my home office for the light switch, and created new electric for a ceiling fan and light combo, and finally they rewired my home office to put it on its own circuit breaker, since I have a lot of things going on in that office. It wasn't in the scope for them to do the drywall repair in my home office. Rich gave me the name of a company to call, but his guys were so clean, I was able to do the patch work myself. Rich and his team did a great job overall. They were courteous and very professional. Rich wasn't pushy at all, and didn't try to upsell me other things. Overall I was very pleased with their work. I'll have Rich out again soon to do some other "new" electric and ceiling fan installations. read more

Horrible place to call and get electrical work. Rich is the guys name, he hires illegal aliens that steal. Called him to install a couple can lights in my master bedroom. His workers came in and did the job in one day. Can litghts came out great, except one of them was a little off which was a huge inconvenience for me because it's right above my bed and I look at it all the time. Then later that day I looked in my jewelry box and my gold necklace 24k 3,000$$ worth was gone!!!!. I wonder who took it!?!???! I called rich several times and explained the situation to him. He denied that his workers would ever take something that didn't belong to them. I filed a police report and it's currently under investigation! Beware of this company!!! First, during our phone call you never said anything about a backlog. You simply said "you would pass on it." Second, the Referral you provided - Mo....n Electric did not even bother to call back to inform me that they would also not be interested. (Wow, how helpful a referral). Instead they flipped it to a 3rd party. Lastly, I received a call from a 3rd party electrician, who explained that he got the call from the company you gave my contact to and according to this electrician, he gets a lot of business this way because it seems you are not interested in repeat work and your referral is also not interested in the work. All in all a very disappointing experience and certainly not a way to treat repeat customers. See you when the recession hits. read more
