I recently moved into a new house in Lafayette with a decent sized yard, but unfortunately very little outdoor lighting. The goal was to set up some outdoor fence lights as well as some uplights on the side of the house to make sure there were no blind spots and I could keep an eye on the dog when he was let out. East Bay Electric was an absolute pleasure to work with and I couldnt recommend them any more highly. On 12/23 we kept losing all power to the house due to a breaker problem. Electricians I have used previously were on vacation and I was getting nervous. They give you clear information about how the price their services and how they prorate in case the actual differs from the estimate. They voluntarily contact you when there is an earlier opening and work with your schedule. Before the technicians come, they send you a text message about who the technicians are, their pictures, and their short CV/experience. I think their technician are very skillful as they relatively quickly figure out what the problems, propose a solution. The office quickly follow-up with the timeline of repair. They make sure that you are happy with the works before they bill you (about 1-2 weeks after the work is done). I have been wanting to install new cabinet lights in the kitchen for a few years. I have contacted about ten electricians. A few never called back, some said they were too busy, and a few got as far as coming over or looking at photos, but said they didn't want to bother with the project because it was too complicated. Finally I found East Bay Electric. From the first conversation with their extremely nice office manager, Jennifer, it was obvious that this company stands above all others. She listened to exactly what was needed and asked useful questions. She was very apologetic that they were so busy, but offered me the first available appointment a few months away. This was fine with me. She explained the process and fees very clearly. Two great guys, Rafael and Abel, showed up for the appointment. They immediately knew what to do to get the best results with the least amount of invasive work. When Jennifer called later to confirm what we wanted, she had all the details from them about exactly which parts were needed. She gave me information about the vendor websites so I could see for myself what they might order. She kept in touch during the ordering process and offered me an appointment to install the lights as soon as possible. Roger, This is Mark Alex is my middle name. Stop pretending you do not know who I am. You sent me a bill 2-3 years ago with no description. I called you and your office to get it fixed with no result. I never authorized the bill nor do I know what you billed me for. The last three years you have used over 5 different collection companies. I just spoke with Luis from Dynamic. He told me he will not take me to court for such a small amount of $1597.85. It would possible affect my credit. I explained that he has no case since I never authorized the bill nor signed a contract. After explaining my position I asked him not to call again. As a potential person thinking of using this company you have to ask yourself why is Roger doing this? There is no money here. As a licensed contractor you need a signed contract in order to place a mechanics lien on property you do work on. Roger never filed one. After I waste time talking to collection companies they send it back to Roger who then uses someone new. The reason he gets someone new is that I ask them not to contact me. Roger gets around this by using someone new. 3 years and 6 companies. The only result of this action is harassing calls from collection companies to my family. I am a Senior Citizen and my wife has cancer. You are really a heartless person behind your friendly smile. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I am starting on social media myself. I will involve all my family members and friends who received a collection call. If I get one more contact from collection I will also file with the state contracting board regarding your license. If you resolve the situation I will remove all my actions. Life is too short and you are your actions. read more

I need to give Roger credit for helping out on an electrical problem personally. It was just a couple days before Christmas, and long story short, I ended up causing one of our circuit breakers to trip several times before it finally gave out. I called around to a few electricians, and while many were helpful, most were busy and couldn't come by until the following week. But Roger called me back shortly after I left a message, we talked things out over the phone and I sent him some photos and video showing what the problem was. He warned he was light on tools, but he'd give it the old college try with a breaker he already had in possession. He came out immediately, and 15 minutes later the breaker was replaced and things were working again. It was expensive, but not overly expensive, and Roger didn't charge me an emergency fee or cost of the new breaker itself. I felt he was very, very fair. Many thanks to Roger. Big projects beware! From reading the other reviews, it looks like Roger does a good job with small projects and seems to talk very well. However, our big remodel resulted in huge budget overruns, failure to meet critical timelines and an invoice full of ghost work days. Many other customers mention Roger's walk through and great communication. We had a "great" walkthrough and a talk that instilled me with great confidence. Of course, that talk never made it into writing and was denied aggressively after the work done already exceeded an agreed price by 150%...and still counting. I postponed the installation of a dishwasher, stove hood, A/C and fireplace insert because scheduled electrical work just didn't happen. Apparently they had other "big" projects that took precedent. I took two days off work to meet with the electricians at East Bay Electric to discuss the progress and get a status update. They did not show but those days showed up on the invoice. Now the electrical part of the remodel is stopped over a cost dispute. Of course, I was informed that the original quote could not be accurate because "they are so busy they don't need new customers. They overbid now because of all the work they have and would not have given me such a low bid." Then, I was told that if I didn't pay the inflated invoice, they could put a lien on my house..."but nobody really wants it to get to that." Yesterday I discovered during a city inspection of the work so far that Roger did not permit the electrical work. Now I am left with an unfinished electrical system and possible penalties for simple negligence. At a critical stage of a long, expensive remodel, I am forced to find an emergency replacement electrician and battle over a ridiculous invoice for unfinished work. Wow, this company blew me away. Out of nowhere, a breaker at my house started continuously tripping (even when we'd reset it, it would trip again within a few minutes). I called several electricians in the area, but everyone was booked. When I called East Bay Electric, I spoke with Jennifer, who put me on the "on-call list" in case an opening popped up. Exceptional Work! Roger's detailed evaluation of the job and the challenges of routing the wiring for our EV Charger in the 1920's house led us to select East Bay over a slightly cheaper competitor. His evaluation indicated he might be able to route the wires inside and avoid exterior conduit (ugly & expensive) but until they actually started the work he could not be certain so he bid the conduit as the competitors did. (The competitors saw no chance of doing it any other way.) East Bay's persistence and expertise resulted in the better and cheaper install with a lower final bill than the estimate. The work was highly professional and the communications during the whole process from job evaluation to final inspection were exceptional. As 5 stars says, "As Good As It Gets".
