I loved that we were inconspicuous and the vehicle didn't scream tourist with any branded stickers or crazy paint jobs. The gas mileage was great, and the bed was comfy! Some bedding is provided, and it was the perfect weight for the summer weather. The van curtains weren't black out, but we felt it made the interior plenty dark enough to sleep. I was really shocked he was able to find a same day available RV to rent in June, since RV's reservations are made MONTHS in advance in the summer in Anchorage. He scoured the internet and found this teeny mom n pop company listed on Outdoorsy.co (not .com) that had an RV immediately available. He was able to make his reservation and payment on line and the RV was ready for pickup a few hours later. We showed up to pick up the RV at 6pm and I have to say, the place looked sketchy. There's no signs, not office and the lot is way in the back down a bumpy dirt road. But, everything actually turned out to be fine. The fleet is a little older, but the owner Tom is a mechanic and keeps everything running fine. It's quite a bit cheaper than some of the other places in town with newer fleets. We're hardcore Alaskans that don't believe in glamping; we just wanted hard sided protection from wildlife. Tom's and his helper spent a long time with us giving us the RV 101 orientation, which was awesome. The RV had everything we needed, although I do wish it had USB chargers. Note to self, bring a cell charger that plugs into the cig lighter. But everything was a-ok. We had all the kitchen doodads we needed, and since we mentioned Yelp we got free linens. Insurance was included. Tom made us very safe and let us know if we had any issues or questions we could call or text day or night. He also said he'd provide roadside assistance should we need it. I really appreciated the personalized service. If you like supporting the little guy, I highly recommend giving Alaska Family Motorhomes a shot! We'll definitely rent from them again if the need arises.

Since I was able to go on their website and book the RV, I then booked my plane ticket and camping sites and excursions just to be told they didn't have an RV available. Why would they have a website that allow you to book an RV and pay a deposit if they didn't have any available? Luckily, I was able to rent an RV from Alaskan holidays and they were able to accommodate. My opinion is that Clippership RV rentals is fraudulent and absolutely downright rude.

It's not the right way to do the business. I believe every rental should have the same $1000 insurance deposit, what's your experience to get back your deposit return?

My family rented an RV from Amazing Accommodation Alaska (AAA) for 13 nights from late June to…read moreearly July. It's summertime in Alaska so I booked the RV months in advance. Sabine (the owner) answered all the questions we had from RV to mosquitoes to everything else under the sun. She helped us so much on planning the entire Alaska trip. She was so patient and kind. Because AAA is outside of Anchorage, you don't have to pay the 10% tax. Another thing we love about AAA is that they have no hidden fees. At the end, I think we saved about $700 renting from AAA comparing to other big RV companies in Anchorage. The RV was very clean and in good condition when we got it. Picnic chairs and table and cooler come with the RV rental at no additional charge. They provide a good supply of kitchenware (pots, pans, dishes, small bowls, cookware, silverware, etc.) toiletries, clean towels, first aid kit, cooler, pillows, blankets. They will make sure you have enough for the length of your rental. They even put a pair of latex glove for dump stations which we thought was very thoughtful. They let us borrow a bear spray but luckily we didn't need to use it. Before you take off, Sabine, personally, would go over the RV with you, and show you how to operate the gas stove, turn on/off the generator, water heater, AC, heater, etc. She put together a little manual in case of emergency. She gave us her cell number in case we ran into any problems with the RV, we would have been able to contact her. We forgot how to operate a few things and I had to call her a couple times; Sabine was more than happy to show us again. I can't say enough how happy and satisfied we are with Sabine and her rental company. They are amazing beyond words. I would strongly recommend using Amazing Accommodation Alaska.
