I went online on a Sunday and booked an RV and paid the $500 deposit. I didn't get a confirmation email so I then called Monday morning and they basically told me I was stupid for assuming an RV would be for rent in such a short time period and told me I needed to book 1 year in advance and then hung up on me. Since I was able to go on their website and book the RV, I then booked my plane ticket and camping sites and excursions just to be told they didn't have an RV available. Why would they have a website that allow you to book an RV and pay a deposit if they didn't have any available? Luckily, I was able to rent an RV from Alaskan holidays and they were able to accommodate. My opinion is that Clippership RV rentals is fraudulent and absolutely downright rude. read more

I booked a reservation online and they charged my credit card $500. I then received an email saying that it was confirmed and that the charge for miles is not included. That would be $0.29/mile or I could call for a daily unlimited mile rate instead. I called them and they then told me they had no RVS available. What if I hadnt called? I would have got to Alaska and there would not have been an RV available for me. I wouldnt trust these people. read more

A very unprofessional company, Very sophisticated and irresponsible Staff， Beware, beware, beware On July 1st, we rented a Sunseeker RV (KHD187) and departed from the rental location. At around midnight, less than 80 miles from downtown, we experienced a severe accident. The six screws on the left rear outer tire were completely missing. The car was shaking violently, putting all our lives in danger. The right side of the road was a cliff with a river below, posing a significant risk of fatality for everyone in the vehicle. Fortunately, our driver, with 30 years of experience, managed to stop the car safely by pulling over to the left side, ensuring the safety of all passengers and the vehicle. The next day, the RV company did not provide a replacement vehicle until 4 PM, When the company sent repair personnel to the scene of the accident, they looked at the cause of the accident and immediately said, "This is terrifying, it's unimaginably terrible." One of the car mechanics also said, "Thank you for saving our company's vehicle." And we replied, "It's not just the vehicle , it's the lives of the seven people in the car, and the mechanic reminds us, "Please report that information to our company, and I'll report it to our company too." however, it was causing us to lose the previous night's accommodation fee and disrupting our plans for the following day. Our entire Alaskan itinerary was delayed, and we had to cancel many scheduled activities. On July 12th, when we returned the vehicle, the RV company staff were very uncooperative and refused to discuss the incident with us. knowing we have a plane to catch. They did not offer any solution and simply told us to leave.In the office, we requested a compensation plan from Chrystal, who refused to continue the conversation and asked us to leave.They insisted on taking us directly to the airport without addressing our concerns. in the end of case, they just pay back us $225. read more

We rented their Yukon Dasher for 8 days. It was a 2017 model with 128,000 miles on it. So, it had visible wear and tear commensurate with the age and mileage but served us well. Everything worked as expected and we had no issues. The bed was comfortable and the blankets provided were warm so we didn't need to run the heater at night. The fridge was a really good size with a freezer and that was a big plus. We put on about 1000 miles over the 8 days and the ability to boondock was really convenient since the RV was completely self-contained. The engine was strong and powered up the hills without a problem. We got between 11 and 12 mpg. We were a bit worried about renting from them as a result of some of the poor reviews online, but make a little extra effort to communicate with them ahead of time. They sent a video on how to operate all of the features of the RV ahead of time which was helpful, and they walked through all of that again with us when we arrived. Extra points for them picking us up at the airport (we had to only wait 15 minutes after calling them for the pickup) and then they shuttled us back to the airport after concluding the rental. We found everyone we dealt with to be polite and helpful. Not sure we'll make it back to Alaska, but if we do we'd rent from them again. In our opinion, seeing Alaska via RV is the only way to go. read more

Rented from them because they were the only ones that rented class A motor homes . Rented a 31 foot with two slide outs . What we got was one with over 100,000 miles it that should have been my first red flag . On the way to Fairbanks it started making a horrible squeaking sound . Pulled over in Healy for the night and upon inspecting noticed the wall was separating from the floor by the coach door . Called for a replacement rv which they said they would send. if i could give ZERO stars i 100% would! this is a horrible company! Luda (the owner) is beyond rude and has horrible customer service.. As soon as we got to the motorhome they had to replace the batteries THREE tomes, once we got on the road the weatherstripping ripped off the front (which they asked us to fix with a caulking gun like we brought one with us on vacation), then the sink was leaking, and then the rv broke down, they then sent their driver to bring us a new rv, and left their driver stranded expecting her to drive a broke down motorhome back. we had a horrible incident on the river and the keys were lost down the river, we made right and had new keys made, but since the keys were previously lost there were 3 different keys for the motorhome so the guy couldn't make the key same day. WE had to drive their driver back 2 1/2 hours so she wasn't stranded overnight since the owner couldn't care less about her. We notified them of what happened as soon as we got back to land, and they didn't tell the driver until she was 30 minutes away. the new motorhome reeked of fish the whole time, they told us to get some air freshener. We lost a full day of vacation having to drive their driver back and then drive back another 2 1/2 hours to where we were. They could care less. They didn't reimburse us for gas or anything else. They are a horrible company and do not care about their customers one bit! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I called today to make right and find out what they would be refunding us and she was very rude and saying we "volunteered" to take their driver back, which yeah because we have a heart and are not going to leave someone stranded!!! They delivered the RV as promised - a bronze class older model at a discount relative to peers. It was fully functional, reliable and clean. The staff were very responsive and helpful on the phone planning and when arrived also let us temporarily store our luggage and provided a clear overview of how to use the RV. Ty Crystal! From general observation, Clipership tends to specialize in older models (no idea how the gold fleet is) and several reviews on yelp may be unrealistically measuring them against RV rentals that do brand new models which cost more. Our 2011 RV with 135k miles had a lot of natural wood and the two primary sleeping areas were top notch - new clean mattresses. The sofa and some of functional areas like kitchen were worn and bedding older but all were clean and mechanical and tires were safe and fully functioning. And they presented the overall inside clean especially the bathrooms and shower. I give them credit for this! My kids did joke they wanted a new RV but As indicated, they delivered on what was promised but could use some upgrades to office. It was an older setup. We rented a motorhome June 11to June 18 2024. Our rental confirmation indicated a Yukon Dasher 19, but we received a Coachman. There were several problems with the motorhome which we addressed upon checkout. A protruding nail ripped a hole in my wife's pants. The brake and engine check idiot lights came on and they said it was just a sensor problem. Shower wouldn't drain because the holding tank had never been emptied. Outside storage could not be secured. Windows couldn't be locked. Run out of matches to light the stove. They didn't have lighter available. Privacy screen was worthless. Couldn't turn on the bathroom fan. Gave us a bath towel for dish towel. Back window shade was not functional. We did get our deposit back, but no compensation for all the above. DON'T RENT FROM HERE!!! Would not recommend this place to anyone. This is the "Gold" edition. Was absolutely disgusting and the smell of pine-sol was nauseating. We couldn't use the refrigerator or freezer because the odor was horrific and we didn't want our food to be ruined so we had to get a cooler.Even after we spent over an hour wiping it down inside, I still felt like we needed to get a tetanus shot after staying in it. This was our first, and for sure our last, time renting here. We used them because they were cheaper than the others but I wish we had paid a little extra and I didn't feel like my skin was crawling for our holiday weekend with friends. 5 stars for providing everything as promised. Started the first night in their parking lot with the RV set up for sleeping 6. Paid the next morning in the office, received a once over and with some encouragement by Dominic we were on our way. The 30' RV drove well and everything worked well no problems at all. We travelled over 1500 miles saw the Homer Spit, Denali over 3 days, Fairbanks, Valdez, and some Glacial View(s). We brought the RV back at 10:30am on our last day just as she was when we picked it up. Very happy to receive the rental deposit as contracted. Would definitely rent from Clippership RV again. Renter beware: I wish I'd have relied on the reviews because this place is an absolute joke. We had issues our entire rental including no heat for most of our trip, left several messages and received no refunds including our propane in which we couldn't use. One of our rental chairs was broken, no refund. My biggest complaint is I noticed a chip in the windshield after we left the lot. I called and left a voicemail to report that it was missed at check in. I had the girl checking us in after our rental annotate it. 3 weeks after our rental I called for our deposit back. They informed me they kept the $500 to repair the windshield. No receipt, no call, no way to dispute. They don't give you the copy of check out or return so demand that and stay away at all cost. We rented the so called Silver level RV, with all included. Pots and pans were dented and very dated. There were NO cups, plates, or bowels. The "shower' ceiling was all patched, and a curtain replaced the door that was missing. There was a soft spot on the floor I was afraid someone would fall through. The slider kept getting stuck. One kitchen cupboard door kept opening letting all those pots, pans fall out during the drive. The microwave was broke and tipped backward. They double charged us for the RV toilet paper, that they said we wouldn't be able to buy, but at an specialized store. It WAS at Walmart. The blankets were thin and worn, not enough for Alaska. To top it all off they kept our deposit for a tiny rock chip from another vehicle driving by us! NOT WORTH THE MONEY SAVED OVER A REPUTABLE COMPANY!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

We had the same experience as other reviewer's in terms of having to wait a ridiculous amount of time for our unit to be ready. We were scheduled to pick it up at 1:30, thankfully road construction delayed us getting there until 330 and then we still didn't get it until 5 o'clock. Other than that, everything was really good! We didn't have any unexpected withholdings on our deposit, but then we were very purposeful and videoing along with them as we did the review around the exterior of the vehicle both before leaving and after returning. Everything worked as we expected it to, and we didn't have any problems at all with the unit. Granted, it's not like we had beautiful Le Cruset cooking pans or anything, but we didn't expect that in a camper. All things considered, this is a place we would probably rent from again. And I would not recommend letting the sad looking front office and exterior of the building deter you. read more

The RV we got is different from what we reserved, and we had plenty problems with the RV ( door won't open, slide-out does not work appropriately, fan clutch collapsed during driving, etc). I made my reservations for the RV rental in February 2021 and the unit was ready when I arrived to pick it up in July. However, it was an older unit with a slide out that took the 2 of us to get in or out as it had to be either pushed or pulled on one side to get it into position. The generator was difficult to start and would only run for about 20 minutes and then quit requiring us to restart. The refrigerator worked like a freezer and froze everything. The rig rattled when driving and I felt that I couldn't drive over 50 mph because of the shaking. All this plus a window leak in the rain says that I would think twice about renting from this company again. Our feeling was that we got an RV that was sitting in the back of their lot that no one else would take. read more

(Should be NO stars...) First things first: STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN!!!! Clippership had the best rates, so we booked our rental through them. Picking up the RV was fairly smooth, other than all the damage on the unit that they wanted us to sign a waiver stating there was none. We took photos of all the damage prior to leaving the site to document. We were only about 45 minutes South of Anchorage when the brakes started to act up, feeling soft and then the brake light came on. We happened to be at our camping spot for the night anyway, so at least that was good. Once stopped we checked the brake fluid in the vehicle and the reservoir was not only completely empty, it was 100% DRY. The fluid had not recently just leaked out, it simply had not been serviced or checked in quite some time. Since it was later in the evening and the office would be closed we waited until morning to call Clippership. It took them 6 or 7 hours to bring a different unit out to us, and the until they brought was only a 21 foot, but we had paid for a 28 (A $700 price difference, FYI). The rest of our trip was fine, no more issues with the RV. However, when we arrived back at the Clippership site they refused to give back the difference in pricing from the change of unit ($700, remember?). Heres the BIG thing, though. The rental that broke down and could have left us stranded, was obviously not full of fuel and propane... THEY CHARGED US FOR THAT FUEL AND PROPANE! So, let me get this straight. They wanted us to drive a rental with no brakes back into ANC to get it filled up?? SERIOUSLY?? How ridiculous is that?! read more

I finished my RV trip in Alaska for the July 4th holiday. We rented TURNAGAIN VOYAGER 32 BUNKHOUSE GOLD. My overall experience with the company is 1 star. I am sharing my experience here to help future travelers make better travel decision. Why did I choose this company at the first place? 1. The RV they offered is the largest among many companies like abc, great alaska holiday. TURNAGAIN VOYAGER 32 model could in theory fit in 9 people in total. 2. Price wise, this is the most affordable RV for the holiday season when I quoted. 3. They offered a sleep at bumper service if you book additional day and will reimburse your taxi fare. This was good to us as we arrive late to ANC and wanted to depart early the next morning. The checkout experience was OK. I used about 2 hours to finish all documentation, getting rented grill and chairs, orientation etc. It was a busy day and most of time we were just kept and wait. On the road we discovered several issues with the motor home. 1. The side mirror was broken. 2. Windshield Washer Fluid was empty after 3-4 uses. 3. Toilet Sewer (black indicator) was not functioning well. 4. Refrigerator does have a smell. TURNAGAIN VOYAGER 32 BUNKHOUSE GOLD is their most expensive and latest model and I could still see these problems. This makes me a little disappointed for the company. But they are not critical issues so we kind of ignore them. At the time of return, they claimed there is a damage at the left side trimmer. We had no idea of how we caused this but they showed us the picture taken before. We asked him the cost for repair. The manager responded immediately this would cost 700. We all thought this was far more than actual cost. We asked why it was 700 and the manager just named a few parts and told us each part (even include a sticker) would cost 100 dollars and shipping would cost 100 dollars. He initially said we could get him whatever part and he would deduct from the bill. After all, we didn't believe the sticker could cost 100. The way they did damage assessment was they name a price and you gotta accept it. You have no idea whether they are going to repair it or not. We were absolutely very angry of the blame and process and the manager threatened he could increase the bill if we did not agree upon on 700 dollars repair cost and they could bill us more (that's exactly why he crossed out 700 on the rental part receipt and fill in a sticker (75 dollars) and increase the total to 775. All of these absolutely made no sense to us. The manager was very rude to us for the whole process and did not listen to our questions. He simply blamed that we knew nothing about RV and knew nothing about how much the repair could cost. Honestly, we do know very little so that's why I wrote the whole experience here and posted the photos and bills here. Totally untrustworthy. On 5/24/18 my wife and I rented an RV from Clippership Motorhome Rentals in Anchorage, AK. The reservation for the rental was made by phone and was supposed to be from the period of 6/7/18 at 9:00 PM to 6/14/18 at 10:30 PM. On that day a $500 security deposit was charged to our credit card. On 6/7/18 we arrived at the rental location and signed the rental contract. On or about 6/11/18 we realized the contract we had signed had a due back date and time of 6/14/18 at 10:30 AM, not PM. We also realized the contract contained no terms regarding refueling or dumping our waste prior to returning the vehicle. We called Clippership Motorhome to discuss these issues and left a detailed message on their voicemail. We never received a return phone call. On or about June 13th we called again and left another detailed message asking them to leave us a detailed message answering our questions in the event they couldn't reach us directly. No return call or message was received. On June 14th we called again and left yet a third message. No return call was received. We arrived back at Clippership Motorhome on 6/14/18 at 10:30 PM. The business was closed. There was no one there to review the condition vehicle with us; there was no night drop box; and, there were no instructions to be found on how to return the keys in this situation. The business did have a back yard locked with a chain-linked and barbed-wired fence. We called the only phone number we had for the business and still received no answer. We parked the RV, tossed the keys over the back fence onto their deck, and left them a message regarding were to find the keys. My wife and I flew out of Anchorage on 6/15/2018 at 1:00 AM. It wasn't until we got home to New Jersey some 12 hours later that we finally received a return message from Clippership. My wife immediately returned the phone call and was told that we were being charged for an extra day's rental, for not refueling prior to returning the vehicle, and for damage to the vehicle. She was further told that Clippership would not be returning any of our security deposit. My wife asked to speak with a manager and the gentleman she was speaking with informed her he was in fact the manager. We did not get his name. When she informed him that the vehicle was returned in the exact condition we received it, he claimed to her there was "a black mark on the driver's side." At that point I got on the phone with this person and he again explained to me that he was charging us for an extra day, for fuel, and for damage to the vehicle. I told him that we would not be charged for any fuel, as the contract contains no terms requiring refueling prior to returning the vehicle. I also told him we would not be paying for any damage as there was no no damage to the vehicle when we dropped it off and there was certainly no black mark on the driver's side when we left it. His response was to ask me, "how'd you know it was black?" When I reminded him that he had just described the alleged damage to my wife, he denied doing so. I again reiterated that the vehicle was in perfect condition when we dropped it off and that someone should have been there to review the vehicle with us and that for all I knew, someone came onto the lot and damaged it in the middle of the night or that perhaps he put the mark there in order to justify keeping our money. He didn't deny doing so and instead immediately moved past the damage and asked, "well, how are you going dispute the extra day?" I explained that it was our fault for not catching the error prior to signing the contract however, if they had bothered to return any of our previous messages, we could have discussed it in advance and either correcte the error, or at a minimum, agreed on satisfactory arrangements. Instead they waited until we left the vehicle and departed the state. He claimed that an employee had returned our previous messages and we were at fault for not answering the phone. Cell service in Alaska is very spotty. It's certainly possible they returned our calls at some point and we just didn't receive it. However, no messages were left no such missed calls appear in our call logs. To date our security deposit has not been refunded and no bill has been received detailing any extra charges. At no point in time did the Clippership ever attempt to amicably resolve the dispute. They simply called us to tell us they were keeping our money. When I informed the manager that I would be sharing our experience with them on Yelp he said he would respond by posting the documents we signed online. So, I will save him the trouble. Good business is not about pointing to clauses in contracts to justify keeping your patrons money. Had they returned any of our calls and shown the slightest bit of good faith, this could have been resolved without any disputes. Instead they are just trying to justify keeping our money. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! This company is a joke! We were told to pick up our RV at 1pm. We along with other people, waiting until it was done at 3:30pm. The inside smelled HORRIBLE and was quite dirty. One would think by the overwhelming smell of Pine Sol, the RV would of been clean but it was very dirty. Luckily we had packed clorox wipes so we were able to wipe everything down. The kitchen table was busted and wouldn't stay up making it impossible to eat meals at it. The slide out was broken and wouldn't extend. We were also shorted some of the "package" items. For a family of 4, we were only given 2 blankets, 2 towels, 1 set of sheets and 0 washcloths. The day we returned the RV we spoke to the owner regarding the issues with the RV and also gave her a list of what we were missing (towels, blankets, washcloths and sheets). She agreed to give us a credit. Her employee wrote the credit on our receipt and we left. Today we received our credit card bill and the credit was not applied. We called her and she LIED to us telling us that everything with the RV was perfect. We ended up disputing the charges through our credit card company and they honored the credit. We rented 3 motorhomes for our family for memorial day weekend. They gave us a smokin deal so we were super excited and grateful. Once we get to our destination we realize that none of the outlets work in one unit nor did the fridge. In another unit, on our last night, we smelled smoke and burning. The fuse for the heater had melted. While our children we're sleeping. Luckily, my husband is a mechanic and was able to rig it together for the rest of the trip by using the fuse from the fridge. This happened twice. Along with a long list of other things that didn't work or went wrong. While backing up the unit we acquired a 2x2 scratch on the back right side. No problem, we were happy to pay what it would cost to fix. The owner came out, ran her hand over it and said "$450". Which we thought was a bit extreme but again, we're happy to pay for it if that's what it really would cost. We gave them the list of everything that didn't work and went wrong, they had their "mechanic" come out and look at the rig. He didn't even know what a fuse was. Nor did they apologize for the rigs heater fuse melting. They called a couple of days later and said "everything works fine" We requested a work order form with labor and supplies. WHAT A JOKE. When we went to pay, the damage had not been fixed and by the look of the rest of their rigs, it will never be fixed properly and they will just pocket our $450. We ended up paying just to be done with it but this is the most SCUMMY business I have EVER dealt with. We will be reporting to BBB as well with the video footage of the smoking/melting fuse. read more

Think twice before renting from Clippership! Their equipment had many failures and their manager was not cooperative with an appropriate reimbursement compensation for them. We feel compelled to share the details below so our fellow RV renters can avoid the headaches caused by this business. For us, it was a disaster! Clippership Motorhome problems: First Clippership Motorhome (2019 Gulfstream) 1. No cover on coffee pot - overflowed all over floor. We inspected and thought the little stopper had been removed from the basket, but it was a clear silicone piece that was still in place and it stopped the coffee from draining into the pot. We bought a new one, per Crystal, for $20 and were supposed to be reimbursed. Never happened! 2. Microwave bracket was broke. Door barely opens, but scrapes badly on bracket when closing. 3. Show stopper here: On the second night, the Rear Slider jammed and wouldn't open. It blocked our bottom drawers, but we could still use the bed. We had to alter our vacation itinerary to swap out for a different vehicle. The motorhome determined our plans, rather than us going with our original itinerary. 4. TV on/off switch was broken off, requiring the use of the remote. The remote batteries were dead for both TV and DVD, leaving both unusable! 5. Screen door was missing an area by the handle, leaving a big opening for bugs to enter. 6. Once, during the night, the furnace and fridge quit. Thought we were out of propane, but in the morning determined we still had over half a tank. Turned off main power cutout on a long shot and when I turned it back on, they both started immediately. It was dumb luck, but at least they were going again. When these things happened, we were back in Denali, far from any store or phone coverage. We left our campsite a day early and connected with Fuji, Clippership's maintenance man, who arranged a vehicle swap with us. He asked us to start driving south from Denali and he would start driving north from Anchorage. We met at the 92 mile marker and transferred all our stuff in the rain, while parked in a muddy turnout along the road. We thought we'd be happily on our way..... NOT! We discovered more problems and drove the motorhome all the way back to Anchorage the next day for repairs, as noted below. Second Clippership Motorhome (2015 Coachman) 1. Sink leaked underneath. The seal around the drain leaked, plus the plastic basin itself was cracked. Fuji replaced sink, however the right side still leaked when draining so we couldn't use it for the remainder of trip. 2. Water heater wouldn't stay lit. Fuji put in different control and igniter. 3. Heat duct in bedroom was disconnected from tube and didn't blow warm air. Fuji connected it properly, but still didn't blow much air. 4. Safety belt for overhead bunk was pulled loose on one side and seatbelt clip missing. Fuji screwed it back in place found a replacement clip from another unit. 5. Only one tiny fry pan. We grabbed another from the old unit. 6. Toaster missing. We grabbed the one from old unit. 7. Battery dead in DVD remote. CR2025. Bought new battery, but still didn't work. 8. Thermostat didn't show the setting because the digital screen was bad. Fuji replaced with a new one. 9. The rear tailpipe clamp was broke. In general, the inside was very beat up and well used. 10. The tank gauges didn't work, resulting in one gray water backup into the shower. 11. The blue sewer drain hose came off from the connector fitting during a black water dump. Bad scene! 12. At the end of our trip we retrieved our brand new carry-on bag from one of the storage compartments underneath. It was soaked in muddy water from the rather frequent times we drove in the rain. We thought a fair settlement would be to credit us for the difference between a gold rental and a silver rental and we thought we should be reimbursed for the 2 days the motorhome determined our plans and the time we had to spend driving back to Anchorage and waiting the afternoon in their parking lot while repairs were made. Bill, the manager thought differently and wouldn't compensate us for any of that lost vacation time. He would only adjust for $200 since we had a gold motorhome for the first 3 days. It didn't seem to matter to him that the slider only worked the first night. This was a sad and frustrating ending for a motorhome rental disaster. They have room for improvement. The biggest discomfort with this place was the office, incredibly disorganized and understaffed. The front desks should be in their own office and the front counter should be better organized for better customer service. We had booked in advance and called before arrival to make sure everything was going to be ready. We flew in from Colorado to pickup the RV and head out on our adventure. When we arrived the RV wasn't ready. I figured this be like picking up a rental car. Pickup the paperwork, examine the vehicle for damage, they acknowledge the damage and write it on their form and off you go. Here, it was a wait. One guy knew what was going on and he was running around trying to get several RV's ready. I felt sorry for this guy and tried to expedite our departure by helping him load our add ons. The RV didn't have to much damage, some general wear and tear. After about 30 minutes of showing us how to work everything we were off. The RV worked great, both driving and camping. We did have a vent break off the roof. We managed to find a RV parts dealer and repaired it ourselves. Clippership did reimburse us for the part. When our trip was over the return was effortless. They were quick with the walk thru and shuttled us to the airport. I would use these guys again in the future, but may send someone in our group a day early to pick up the RV and make sure it is all ready for the group the next day. I think I would do this for any other place too. So much easier to handle the pickup when you don't have 3 other people nagging in the background. read more

Clippership disaster August 2017 It was filthy, upholstery, floors. It broke down midway on our trip. Shower did not work. Beds were useless, broken, another board had been added trying to retrofit the table turned bed area. Rude employees. This was an aged RV they replaced it with another aged rv that did not have working stairs. Very unreliable. Yes they are cheap, but there is a reason! read more

Everything was beyond perfect. I was initially concerned because of the negative reviews and I asked them about that. Their response, that people damage the vehicles and then are unhappy when they have to pay made a lot of sense. So I took a leap. They were by far the cheapest. Service was great. Friendly staff. Go out of their way to give you the best experience. The camper was beautiful. Some cosmetic dings but functionality was key to us and everything worked the way it was supposed to. The book they provide with the vehicle was invaluable and shows how much they care about your Alaskan experience. I was pleasantly surprised. I will never rent from anywhere else but here. read more

STAY AWAY from Clippership Motorhome rentals - The vehicle maintenance was a CRITICAL issue - we were left stranded on the side of the road! The (not well aged) mororhome required a new alternator and replacement of two front wheel bearings!! The sad thing is I lost two days of my vacation to deal with this and I delivered the motorhome back to them in much better shape than it was and was met with absolutely NO customer service, NO afterhours support - It was my problem! (and they nickel and dimed me and would not even consider any refund). ((We'll see what the Better Business Bureau has to say)) NO - Not a reputable organization. - NO - their motor homes are not safe for the road. A broken fuel pump and 5 days imprison on a scrapyard without water and without the possibility to dump the Rental Car. 5 persons lost in Canada near Whitehorse and Clippership didn't help us. We called to reserve a gold class and they confirmed, but till the end of day they sent me the confirmation with a silver class. We spent several hours at the check-in, waiting and checking, the RV just have so many problems through the whole trip. We tried to argue when we were back, thd manager is just so rude and said we have right to cancel the trip and just don't have to rent that RV. I would never rent a car here anymore. I wish I could give zero stars.. Or at least half a star.. Do not rent from this place!! So terrible. We rented a motorbike for two weeks, which equals two weeks of daily hell! The alarm went off the first day we had the home- in the PARKING LOT of the business (we had a late flight so decided to stay in the lot before leaving in the morning). Everyone said it was not an issue. It was an issue!!!!!! Waking up everyday to crazy alarms at 6am on vacation was one thing- getting stranded due to electric failure is another!!! We had to be 'rescued' in Denali and switched motor homes. Exactly what you want to do on vacation- wait 8 hrs for a replacement vehicle and then switch all your stuff!!! Our new home was nice until that too broke down!!!! There was a tire rod issue. Thankfully, we had pulled over into an RV site when we felt it getting shaky. The mechanic there said it was from age!!! Clippership tried to blame us!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have pictures and video to document the hell we went through! Terrible experience. The motor home was not up to par, was not as described, was not ready on time and was not well maintained. When we complained they said we could discuss it when we brought it back, but the person when we brought it back has no authority to fix anything. I will update my review to see if they make it right. I will be the test case to see if Ankur was right about the rude arrogant owner or Tanya about them being helpful and wonderful are right. I didn't order the RV, my girlfriend did. We called for a shuttle pick up and it was about 30 minutes late. No biggie. While my girlfriend was paperworking I was playing with the company dog. We ended up getting upgraded because our reserved RV was unavailable. I then had to sign some forms since I was also going to be driving. We did the walkaround and noticed a few small things. Once again, no biggie. About a 30 minute delay. We then went to the nearest Walmart to stock up. Things like paper plates, cups, trash bags, and salt and pepper would have been nice. Maybe that's extra. I don't know. RV ran great and our vacation was awesome because of our RV. My only gripe is the RV didn't come equipped with an inverter. We were not staying with hookups and couldn't run the generator all night for my CPAP. Also we were told we could return the RV anytime on our return date. We didn't pay enough attention to our contract that stated a 12pm return time. We had to pay an extra day, but technically we were able to return in anytime we wanted. It was fine though since we had an 11:55pm flight. I would rent from them again. read more

First let me say this is a busy place! Don't let your 1st impression scare you away ( over hearing a couple from Japan say how dirty and ran down the office appeared- book by its cover reminder) it wasn't bad and the folks try to move people into their RV's as fast as humanly possible. Our maiden voyage started with a few hick-ups. Power in the plugs didn't work, a cabinet door poped open and the hindge was broke, and a vent over the bed kept flapping( screws were laying in the screen) Our little Ruby ( we named her) had 104 gently used rental miles on her but engine was solid, Ruby took us over 1600 miles in 7 days. We did have to call the 2nd day after no manual or what if guide had our issues listed. Tyler, whom I spoke with walked us through how to get power to the GFI plugs(breaker kicked) and not to worry about the cabinet door and the vent cover should be ok, if not call them back. Ruby was older but kept us warm and dry. We had full at all the RV parks we stayed in, and she took most of the hills like a champ, trust us no cell service in most of the out skirts we didnt push her, I'm not sure 104 rental miles is like dog years. Our overall experience was good! Now returning Ruby, a lady checked 412 aka Ruby in and said she looks good but I'm not a mechanic??? What does that mean, hmmmm ok so no paper work, your all set your $500 deposit takes about 10 days to be refunded. I found the coment odd but they were pretty informal formal right from the start. On our adventures we met other folks who rented from other RV rentals who seemed to have similar experiences or worse. Ours was not bad, and we enjoyed our adventure. In the end we would rent from Clipper Ship again. I'm sure 412, aka Ruby will be long retired By than but never know!! read more

Our experience with Clippership was excellent from the beginning. Not only do they have good customer service, but their prices are much less than that of their competitors. And they don't nickel and dime you for every little thing. So for travelers on a budget (like us), Clippership was the perfect option. We rented the smallest camper available, and it was ready for us when we arrived. They took us through and explained where everything was. Less than an hour after arriving, we were on the road. Our Alaskan adventure included 4 nights in Denali National Park. On our first night we noticed that the furnace wasn't functioning as normal, and the refrigerator indicated low battery. After a very cold night, I called Clippership the next morning and was immediately connected with their mechanic (Sergei). He patiently guided me through what to check. After 20 minutes he told me there was a problem with the battery and he would have to send someone out to help us. He gave me his cell number and told me someone would be out to help us. We went about our day and when we came back, the RV still wasn't fixed. Now, this was over Memorial Weekend. We forgot traffic would be bad out of Anchorage, and Denali is about a 4 hour drive. Finally Les from Clippership showed up with 2 brand new batteries. He was apologetic about the long delay and got right to work. In no time at all, Les installed the batteries. He checked the generator to make sure all was well. Then he gave me his personal cell number and told me to call him if there were additional problems. What could have ended up as a disastrous and uncomfortable vacation was fixed with great customer service with the assistance of Sergei and Les. Service was Amazing, they gave extra blankets, chairs tables, all what you need without any hesitations, since it was our first time with a RV, they explained everything in detail and also over the phone when we were in Denali, having troubles turning on the heater... family owned business... highly recommended!!! If I go back to AK for an RV, it'll surely be them!! We were very comfortable with them... they cleaned up the toilet couple of times, since we spent one night at their RV location!!!
