Hello. I would like to continue on this very positive way of feedback for Explore Alaska RV Rental. We have just returned from our trip - which started in Alaska with Explore RV rental and finished in Canada with normal huge RV rental company. The rental in Canada wasnt bad at all, we were i think lucky for kinda nice people and newer vehicle, but still the difference between general rental company and Explore Alaska RV rental was enormous. I think - all was already mentioned in the other reviews - and i cant agree more ! The quality or RV - its one thing - and the RV from Meegan was in excellent condition. Other thing - the one you never get in larger rentals is the personal relationship. With Meegan - we really felt like part of the family. Even before we have arrived, we have exchanged a few emails and i already knew, that we are in the best hands. Meegan gave us so many tips where to go, what to see .. which was really great, since the locals has other tips, than you can find in books. We had such a great support from Meegan during our travel, she was very helpful in every way. Other thing, which you never get in RV from larger company is the personal touch - which our RV had, its not only a really good kitchen equipment and other small bits and pieces - but also for example set of DVDs with good movies in case of rainy days, this is a small details but very thoughtful and you can find more of these in the RV. Our plane was leaving 5.30 am in the morning and Meegan was so nice to let us use our RV till 9pm and than even offered us to stay in her other RV over night , till we had to to the airport. Was really hard to rent from general rental after renting from Meegan. Again - im really happy to say, that this was our best rental experience ever. Simply put, Explore Alaska RV made my family's vacation to Alaska amazing. This small family owned business handled every part of the rental process from pricing/contracting to pickup/return with the highest level of ethics and professionalism. I had shopped several other rental agencies prior to deciding on Explore Alaska RV. I am so glad I found them. There are many rental companies to choose from but I just wasn't comfortable until I found Explore Alaska RV. One of the companies even had an F rating with the BBB, FTC violations and bad press in the local paper. I could tell Explore Alaska RV was the right choice from my first interaction with them by the way they treated me. When we arrived in Anchorage, Explore Alaska RV was there to pick my family up from the airport and deliver us to our rolling home for the next two weeks. Rental paperwork was mostly handled ahead of time and we were ready to head down the road on our adventure in no time. Our Winnebago Chalet was meticulously maintained, clean (almost white-glove clean... seriously) and fully stocked with all the items we needed for our trip (except food). It felt like "home" instantly to us. Shawn helped us with the best places to shop for groceries and grab a quick lunch before heading out of town. This ended up being one of the best meals we would eat out in Alaska. :) I would also highly recommend sending your trip itinerary to Vilma and Shawn ahead of time. They know Alaska very well and had some great ideas to add to the trip that we had missed in our research. This vacation was our 3rd to Alaska. Before we had flown in and went on tours. So we have seen most of places north of Anchorage. We wanted something different. We talked about renting an RV and driving south to see the beauty of Alaska. I spent over a month of looking at different RV rental companies, that they did or did not furnish, the policy, and many other things. Now making our decision to go with Explore Alaska RV rental LLC. I researched everything I could find and made a couple of calls (February 2017). My first contact was with Meegen and she got me all the information I would need to make our decision on dates and time. We set our dates, signed the paperwork and sent our deposit. We needed the RV from 8/17/2017 until 9/1/17. Time came and few days before we were contacted by Shawn. Meet mister wonderful, he told us he would be picking us up at the airport and getting us settled in our RV. Now time to meet Vilma with a big smile and she help me finish the paperwork while Shawn got my husband set on the RV. These two know the way to get you off on a great vacation and all of the special touches. These people are the kind you want to do business with. He checked on where we were going and had several tips for along the way. Got us to the grocery store for our food for the trip, suggestions on places to get something to eat. They made sure we had both of their numbers in case we needed anything. The RV was spotless and we had all we needed to enjoy Alaska. Our family rented a 31' RV from Explore Alaska RV Rentals in July 2014 for a two-week trip. This is our third time renting an RV in Alaska and this experience, by far, exceeded our two previous experiences (with a different local company). Meegan and Scott are wonderful people - kind and professional. The process for the rental is very thorough/detailed. Meegan was so wonderful. She answered all of our questions about the rental and even assisted us in advance in that she met with us prior to the rental period to do a "test fit" with our infant car seat to make sure we could secure it safely according to manufacturer's instructions. We rented a 2010 model. It was in like-new condition, clean and well-stocked. The pots and pans and utensils were all like new. When I say well-stocked, I mean well-stocked. Everything you would need was there and in working order. We travelled with our five children, so we packed that RV. Meegan stocked it with linens for seven as well as bedding for all of us. It was PERFECT! Our trip was wonderful, but we did have a small problem with the RV two-days into our trip. One of the dumping valves malfunctioned. We called Meegan and Scott and they handled it IMMEDIATELY. Part of the rental covers a mobile mechanic, who travelled to us and fixed the valve within hours of our call. Their immediate response to the problem is a true testament to the company. I can not say enough good things about our experience from beginning to end. We rented a 25' chalet from 13th to 18th aug for 4 ppl; Meegan picked us up in the morning from our hotel which was about 15 mins away from where the RV was parked; she gave us a thorough overview of the vehicle but still got us going in time. RV itself had everything that we would potentially need for our stay. Everything was prepared to the dot. All of us were doing this for the first time so nerves were obviously there but Meegan made everything extremely comfortable for us. There's a $75 prep fee if renting less than 6 nights. RV was fairly comfortable for 4 adults. If there are more ppl in your party I'd recommend the 29' as would Meegan :) These guys are a small business. Meegan and her fiancee are doing an extremely good job with very limited resources. Their fleet is small and they're usually booked up so we were super lucky that we were able to rent from them. We shopped around quite a bit and hers were the lowest rates. RV return was super simple as well. I'd highly recommend anyone to go with these guys whenever in AK and would like to rent or have an RV experience. I'm not sure when my wife and I would be back in AK but whenever we are, we will make sure to rent with her. I'd even arrange my schedule around her vehicle availability if I have to. This is a perfect place to rent an RV specially for those who have never rented an RV before. Other companies in the area are either too big to provide proper customer service or are too arrogant to work with inexperienced renters. You will never get that sort of vibe here at explore AK. Renting Meegan's RV was one of the decisions we have made and it made our vacation in AK a memorable experience! As other reviewers have mentioned, Meegan runs her business in the most ethical, customer friendly and personalized manner possible. She goes out of her way to not only make you feel comfortable, but truly wants to make sure that the RV experience is smooth and enjoyable! A few points below that deeply impressed us: - Meegan did complimentary airport pick up and drop off - She chatted with us and helped us plan our itinerary before hand, and adding her tips to our trip became some of our favorite parts to visit - The RV was FULLY equipped with so many details take care of (toilet paper, towels, laundry hamper, salt & pepper, mosquito repellent etc). My husband and I are tea drinkers and Meegan made sure there would be a tea kettle in the RV, which we really appreciated. It really was like having a home away from home - At one point the RV sewage sensor was not showing the correct info, we called Meegan, she was incredibly helpful -- but what touched us most was that she seemed to care about the issue not causing an issue to our trip MORE than anything else. - Neither of us had driven or even been in an RV before. Meegan's smooth and efficient orientation at the beginning totally demystified RVs for us, and made us feel very comfortable about driving it out of the parking lot on our own. - The RV itself was AMAZING!! We rented an RV from Explore Alaska for two weeks in August of 2015. We had dreamed about taking an RV through Alaska for a very long time, but when I began reading reviews I was concerned. Then I found Explore Alaska, and after calling and speaking with Meegan, I told my husband that I just had a gut feeling that she was fair and honest. I was right about that. She was not only fair and honest, but gave us amazing customer service from the beginning of our discussions (we had never rented or driven and RV before) to our final check out. She was amazing, accommodating and was focused on our family having the best possible time on our trip. She made suggestions of side trips to take, suggested amazing things to see, put videos for the kiddos in the RV, she reached out to other tour operators on our behalf, provided pick up to and from the RV lot, and she provided quick contact via text for any questions. The RV itself was REALLY nice. The kitchen was well-stocked as was the RV with camping chairs, a grill, and everything we needed. I know many people might not care, but I didn't feel like I was roughing it in the RV because the bed had a pillow top (amazingly comfortable) and the sheets and bedding were high quality. The bath towels were large and fluffy. We had a wonderful time and we appreciated all the little extras Meegan did for us. When all was said and done, the price of renting from Explore Alaska was exactly what she quoted us, with no hidden fees. I would not hesitate to rent from her again. read more

I can't say enough great things about Meegan and her company! We had booked an RV through another company and 2 weeks before our trip realized they had an F rating from the BBB and horrible online reviews. I was panicked about showing up and having a horrible experience with my family like many other people did, so I started looking for other options. I found Explore Alaska on Yelp and called that night. Even though it was late in the evening, Meegan called me back in a few minutes. She was 100% customer focused from the beginning. Luckily, they had 1 RV available for our dates and it was just the size we wanted. She was also generous enough to discount the rate a little due to the experience we had with her competition. Through several phone calls and emails she also gave us a ton of information and recommendations on places to go and things to do. It was like having our own Alaska tour guide, and it was very valuable! The RV was great, and she gave us a very thorough walk through of its functionality before we took off. It was in perfect shape with only about 40,000 miles and a very clean interior. She also gave us her cell number and told us to call 24/7 if we had any issues or questions - we didn't, but it was nice to know she would be there for us if we did. If you're considering a trip to Alaska, rent an RV. And if you rent an RV, do so from Meegan and her company. We will be back and rent from her again. read more

If you're looking to visit Alaska in an RV, Explore Alaska is the place to rent from! Shawn and Vilma are the best! We don't get a lot of "big" vacations, so I did a lot of research before contacting these folks. I was hoping to rent from a small family business rather than some large corporation. I also wanted to feel confident that we would have a good experience, even if something did go wrong. After reading the Yelp reviews, I knew these we were the fine folks that were going to make this a 5 star vacation. And so they did. By day 2 our mantra became "Thank God for Vilma!" as we found one thing after another that we had forgotten to pack but that Vilma had tucked away in a closet or a drawer. All those little things... like zip lock bags, a spaghetti strainer, laundry soap..... that I had forgotten to pick up at Freddie's...they were there when I needed them. But it was so much more than that. Everything was CLEAN and in good order. And after meeting Shawn and Vilma, we KNEW that help was only a phone call away. My family and I took a week long road trip after Labor Day and had a fantastic time in Alaska. A big part of ensuring our trip went well was renting a great RV from Explore Alaska. I researched the top five recommended RV companies in Anchorage and one by one was very disappointed by either the many negative reviews or by the excessive daily rates. I finally came across Explore Alaska and was pleasantly surprised by the personal service and the all inclusive price. Meegan was great to work with and was very accommodating. This was the first time I rented an RV and was a bit apprehensive with the logistics. It couldn't have gone any smoother. A few times while on our road trip, I had some questions and texted her. She was very quick to respond. We never had any issues with the 25' RV. It was very clean and the items included were well thought out including even the 40 DVDs she supplied with the RV. I corresponded with her prior to our trip many times and she was quick to respond. She gave great suggestions on travel tips. My husband and I rented an RV from Explore Alaska in June 2016. I checked out a few RV companies before lucking out and finding Meegan at Explore Alaska. I had some anxiety about renting an RV site unseen so far away from home BUT Meegan was a pleasure to work with right from the start, very helpful in planning our trip and totally put me at ease. As others have said she is very responsive and attentive. The price was what I expected and there were no hidden fees for kitchen equipment and chairs like other companies. Once we arrived Meegan picked us up at the airport and took us to the RV, major convenience. The RV was meticulously clean and stocked with lots of stuff that you forget you need, like a laundry hamper and movies. The pots, pans and utensils were excellent quality. The bed was comfortable, which is not always the case in an RV, the sheets and pillows were high quality as were the towels. It felt like staying in a really nice hotel that you happened to be able to drive around to all the places you want to see. Believe it not, this is my very first time to write a review on the Internet. I feel so obliged to do so because Meegan's Explore makes our first RV experience such a wonderful and perfect memory!!! At the very beginning, I was hesitating to use a "small" company. But after a few emails with Meegan, I just locked on her and trusted my intuition. She is super nice and patient to answer all your questions and provide much more information than you requested! Meegan and her team do not merely do some per-arrival work to get you into their business. They do care about you all though the way. Whenever you have any question, they're just a text away! We love our "Alaskan home", which is equipped with anything you can think of. Explore Alaskan RV treats us as a family and arranges everything in advance! It is those details that touched me most: garbage bags, paper towel, hair dryer, soup, salt and pepper... We have a large group of friends who rented RVs from three different companies. We rented an RV from Explore Alaska RV Rentals for 10 days in July/August of this year. Meegan, the owner, exceeded our expectations for the entire planning and travel experience. She is very easy to work with - has lots of travel advice, provides transportation to and from the airport, and overall she makes things as simple as possible. The RV had everything we needed and then some (think mosquito repellant, binoculars, bear spray, hair dryer to name a few items)- we only needed to stop for food. Meegan even supplied us with some fresh caught halibut in the RV's freezer. We spent 10 days traveling to Talkeetna, Denali, Fairbanks, Sourdough and Valdez and had no problems what so ever. We shopped around for other RV rentals in Anchorage, but we just had to go with the smaller local business. The service can't be beat compared with the larger rental companies. After reading reviews of several RV companies, we selected Explore Alaska because of the great reviews they received. They were absolutely right! From the very first contact with Meegan, she did everything possible to make our vacation perfect and stress free. She was available by email, text, or phone to answer any question, give recommendations on places to go, or to hear any concerns we had. The RV was fully equipped with EVERYTHING we needed except food. She even gave us some Halibut that she and Scott had caught which we grilled on the provided grill. It was delicious! She picked us up at the airport, and took us to our bus connection on our return. All the paperwork before and after was clear and covered any questions. Meegan gave us a full tour and explained how everything worked so we were comfortable with the equipment and knew how to reach her to get quick assistance if anything went wrong on our trek. By the end of our wonderful 8 day tour, we felt Meegan was more a friend than a person we did business with. Over Memorial Day weekend my boyfriend and I took a 5 day, 4 night trip from Seattle to Alaska. We knew we wanted to spend the trip in a RV in order to have flexibility throughout the trip and to stay at campgrounds. I recently spent 3+ glorious weeks in Alaska! For two of those weeks - Aug 19 to Sept 2 - I lived in a 25' RV, from Explore Alaska RV Rentals. I cannot say enough positive things about the entire experience! My friends and I began planning this trip about 8 months ago, and investigated several RV rental companies. We felt so comfortable with Meegan from the very beginning. In talking with her about our questions and concerns, we developed a relationship that carried through the whole process. She knew who we were whenever we contacted her, and that felt so great :) While very friendly, Meegan is absolutely professional in her organization, preparation, document clarity, etc, etc. We got exactly the equipment we had requested, the RV was very clean, well maintained and well outfitted. She offered us advice on where to stay and what to see. She made every effort to make the process easy and quick, picking me up at the airport, giving a thorough walk through of the RV, and checking in with us during our travels. We rented from Explore Alaska RV Rentals in the summer of 2022. Shawn and his wife Vilma were excellent to work with and really go out of their way to make your trip the best experience possible. They even moved items out of their freezer so we could store our freshly caught salmon before flying out the following day at no extra charge. All the extras they gave us for little to no cost such as fishing poles, chairs, a fully stocked tackle box, camp table, grill and all the cookware made camping a breeze. We put about 2600 miles on the RV during our 2 week stay and had no mechanical issues. The RV is showing some wear since it had over 80,000 Alaska highway miles (they're quite bumpy), but minus some cosmetic issues it was impeccably clean on the inside and very comfortable for a family of 4. The 24' size was relatively easy to get in campgrounds and other popular tourist stops. I would highly recommend renting from Explore Alaska RV Rentals as they provide a good value in cost compared to some of the other rental companies and customer service is second to none. read more

I booked online from the UK in Sept 18 for a 22' chalet RV . Communications throughout were first rate, including very helpful advice on the itinerary for my 1 week tour before we arrived at the end of May. This is not a corporate company but a small family run business who deliver a very personal service. Shawn picked us up from the airport took us to their site, gave us a run down of the vehicle and off we went. The RV ran well for the week and we were very happy with it and returned to Anchorage where Shawn collected it from our hotel. We liked him and Vilma a lot. The price was very competitive and our damage deposit was returned promptly. We did agree with Shawn an instruction sheet for the basics such as the RV electrics would be useful for novice renters. Note: One thing to consider with a 22' chalet is a ladder is required for the over cabin double bed which was not convenient for 2 (older) people and the sofa double bed will not suit anyone over 6 feet tall. If renting again i would pay more attention to that. read more

tl;dr: Meegan is the best. You absolutely should work with her. We spent a wonderful week exploring the Kenai Peninsula in one of Meegan's RVs. It is a wonderful way to see the area and I have been recommending it to friends ever since. I very strongly recommend working with Meegan and Explore Alaska. She made our trip much easier. * RV was in great condition (and is a great way to do this trip) * Meegan picked us up at the airport and dropped us off again! * Orientation was extremely clear and we felt like we knew exactly what we were doing * Meegan was at pains to explain that there had been some damage to the awning. We couldn't tell at all but she still apologized to us! * Meegan helped us to finalize our plans and made great suggestions. She even had a friend reserve a great spot for us in an RV park Long story short. RVing in Alaska is a great vacation. Explore Alaska has great RVs and is well run -- you won't go wrong. Finally, Meegan is wonderful and adds a little extra to the trip. read more
