Out of all of the HVAC companies I have ever used or inquired about, Northfield Heating and Air is the best in all areas. Their employees are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They cleanup at the end of every day. Jason, the owner, clearly takes a personal interest in every job that his company receives. He comes to each job everyday to make sure his employees are doing what was promised. If an unexpected issues comes up, he figures out a way to take care of it. He is fairly priced and works with you to find out what will be best for your home. They are a full-service company. I had to have my furnace moved from the second story of my home to above my garage and his company was able to build a fireproof room, insulate it, do all of the electrical work, gas work, and heating and air conditioning. Therefore, I did not have to bring in outside people to complete the job. Also, I had an emergency one day (my water heating stopped working) and they were there within 30 minutes to fix it. We just had a new heating and air conditioning installed in our house and for the first time in 20 years the house temperature is balanced. We have a tri-level home and twenty years ago we had an addition done. At that time we asked to have two units be put in, one for the upper floor and an other for the lower floor. We were told that this was not necessary and that we would be fine with the current one system design. Well, needless to say, there were parts of the house the had a 10-12 degree difference. Everyone that we brought in to help us with the problem would tell us that it is to late now unless we want to take down our walls and run new ductwork. Initially, it was a service call to get my heater working again. They came out that same day and went over the entire system but could find nothing. They cleaned it up and got it running, heat restored, all done in a timely fashion on the day I called. They told me it was a 20 year old system and might need something major - sooner or later. A few days later the heat went out again. They came out (no charge - using the first visit as payment) and determined it was the computer board. Also looked like the inducer was on it's last legs. And many other pieces of the system could also fail. If they replaced it as it failed it would run up a sizable bill over time. If they replaced the whole system it would solve the problem for 10 years. They gave me the more affordable option. They got it done that same day. Pulled 2 guys off another job which was less pressing, knowing it could hurt my business. Also, they took my call on for the repair on a Sunday. Northfield Heating and Air is undoubtedly the best HVAC company in the Chicagoland area. I had the misfortune of having both the furnace in my home as well as the furnace in a rental property go out on the same day just before Thanksgiving. After calling around to a few different places to get quotes and check availability, I came across Northfield. Luckily, a quick fix worked for my rental property but the system in my home was 20+ years old and needed to be replaced. Not only did Northfield give the lowest price, they were out the next day first thing in the morning! The team was courteous and extremely professional every step of the way! During last week's cold snap, my furnace seemed to be working nearly around the clock to keep my condo at 66 degrees. Each time it kicked on it would make quite the rattle. Eventually it couldn't keep up, so my fiancée called a local service who was very good. They said they could get the part in 24-36 hours and be back in 48 to fix it. I called Jason and Northfield, described the problem, and he had a professional and efficient expert at my house motor in hand at 10am the next day. Not only did he replace the part, but spent extra time to test and retest the system to make sure it was working perfectly. Now the sound is gone and the furnace works perfectly! Northfield Heating and Air is absolutely fantastic. They are prompt, respond quickly, everyone is professional and polite, and they take COVID safety very seriously. We have had them install a new HVAC system, add duct work to our attic to help with airflow, and trouble shoot issues when we briefly found ourselves without heat this winter. Best of all, if you sign up for their regular maintenance program they will contact you twice per year for routine work so that you don't need to remember. HVACs really last with proper maintenance so this is a huge help to us. The crew is also small enough that we tend to see the same 3-4 people, so we all know each other well (even our dogs recognize them now) which adds a nice personal touch. Northfield is one of the most responsive and effective HVAC companies that I have worked with in all my years of home ownership. We were first introduced to them by a contractor who was putting in a new wine cellar. He used Northfield to install the cooling system, which was a complicated matter. On top of that, Northfield figured out how to keep our mechanical room, which houses 3 furnaces and all of our home automation equipment, cool even when the furnaces are running full force. Really enjoyed working with Northfield Heating and Air. We just recently bought our home and was told by another company we need to replace everything. Told us what we needed to do and that we don't need to replace our AC till the spring and that our furnace was in good working order. Our heat went out in the middle of the night. A friend recommended Northfield. I called and they sent someone right away. The technician solved the problem and found several other issues that he fixed that really improved the efficiency of my heating. I was going to schedule a spring tune up for our dual zone AC, when the fan on one of the outdoor compressors stopped working. We were abe to schedule an appointment with Jason for the next morning, at least a day earlier than the other companies I called. He was on time, quickly got the fan operating, and cleaned and tuned up both systems. He was very knowledgeable, professional, completed the work and cleanup very efficiently, and the price was fair. Efficient, fair pricing, good communication. Jason has come for several visits- a 27 year old boiler needed a part and he checked if it was under warranty. This was not an emergency since it is warm out, but he ordered the part and put it in the next day. He also replaced a 20-year old thermostat.
