I was referred to Chicagoland Heating & Cooling by my home warranty company. My heater wasn't working and was blowing cool air so I wanted to get it fixed before the winter months. The home warranty company gave me dates of availability but Steve called me right away asking if he could come out the following day. He advised that my heater needed a cleaning, and told me what the issue was. I know he didn't try to upsell or provide unnecessary services as a prior serviceman told the home warranty company the same thing and I knew it was not covered Steve fixed the issue and cleaned the heater within 1.5 hours. I was referred here by my home warranty company. I wasn't amused by the plumbing specialist they sent for another trouble call but Steve has really changed my opinion on the home warranty. Steve's office called seconds after the claim was filed, I had not even gotten off the call with the warranty company. That's some fast office work! Unfortunately no same day appointments were available so they set up a next day morning appointment. Steve showed up on time and brought all the necessary tools and parts for the repair. He was nice to speak to and highly focused on his work. The job was completed quickly and Steve avoided conversation until he finished the repair so as to maintain focus and reduce delays in the repair due to chatting. Having no A/C is no fun! Some reviewers mention rudeness and arrogance, we got none of that, maybe he was having a bad day on those service calls. He was very quiet during the repair process but pleasant and easy to work with at the end of the repair process. If you are looking for an HVAC contractor who knows their stuff Steve's company is a good choice to look into! read more

Reposting from Google. Pretty bad service. Rude and unknowledgeable. Uncooperative and arrogant. Stay away from this company and Steve. If you would like details, keep reading. Long explanation... To be more specific, the repair technician came to the house and diagnosed the issue as "faulty installation." The system has been running fine for several months up until recently. So I doubt it was the install. He said, "there are too many wires here, this isn't installed correctly installed." Okay...well, which ones are unnecessary? He couldn't say. I pointed out some of those wires could be for the central humidifier and he said he wasn't allowed to touch that. Fine. The repair man then tells the home warranty provider that dispatched him there is no mechanical failure with the system and the humidifier is what is causing my fan to run constantly. Something it is designed to do. (News to me, I've never had one) This something he refused to touch or diagnose, but felt confident reporting to the organization that dispatched him. He didn't tell me this to my face--why? I was asking what the problem was! He left without fixing the problem. He was however happy to collect my $100 service call fee for 15 min of work. (credit cards have a transaction fee, BTW) At the end of this, I get a call that he would like to come out and fix my humidifier for $175--which he already reported was working fine. Get your story straight! Seems like this company is trying to use home warranty providers as a lead generation service by not properly diagnosing problems, claiming things aren't covered under warranty (he said my Nest thermostat wasn't covered, it is), and then turning around and trying to sell extra services that would actually fix the problem. At the end of this, it turns out he was right my system was functioning properly. All I had to do was flip the off switch on the humidifier and the problem of the constantly running fan went away. Why couldn't he just tell me this? Zero integrity. Stay away. read more

My husband and I were searching for a good HVAC guy, when a friend recommended Chicagoland Heating & Cooling. Of course it's just my luck to have some kind of issues in the heating department in the middle of winter so we decided to try this company out since my friend had such a pleasant experience. Steve came out and fixed our furnace and now it's as good as new! He was very friendly and professional and his price was definitely reasonable. He didn't try to up charge us for things and he didn't try to sell us other things or other maintenance issues that we should look out for. He also was done within a few hours which is always a plus when you're busy and don't have time to sit around all day without good, proper working heat in the middle of winter. We will definitely be calling him again if we ever need any other maintenance for our Furnace or A/C. I mean I really hope our AC doesn't break down in the middle of summer like it did one year but if it does, I'll know there's someone I can count on that can get us in that day. read more

I have a home warranty policy with HWA and Steve from Chicagoland Heating and cooling came out to repair my air conditioner that was making a loud noise and not cooling . I found him to be polite and very knowledgeable and he found the problem with the compressor fan motor and checked out the entire system and got me ready for the summer season. Steve came out very quickly on a weekend day to diagnose an on and off problem I have been having for a while. He was very nice, and explained everything. I could tell he really wanted to make sure the problem was solved correctly. He went further than I expected checking other things out and did not rush of the first time it started working. I was referred to Chicago Heating & Cooling by our Home Warranty company. Our furnace was shutting off prior to hitting the pre-set thermostat temp. Steve came out on short notice, and while he could not tell exactly what the issue was he took every step possible to correct the issue - he changed the limit switch which he believed could be faulty, cleaned all the senors, cleaned the intake and outtake pipes, and showed us how we could better ensure our furnace was using the second stage of the two stage heating to properly heat our house. I am unsure which of these things may have been an issue, but since Steve's visit our furnace is working great and is shutting off right when the desired temp is hit. Thanks to being part of the home warranty the total cost was $200 but that was a small price to pay to assure my family is warm throughout a Chicago winter. Will definitely call Steve again should I need his services in the future. read more
