This is the most horrific eye center I've ever been to. My lens aren't a year old and the protective coating has started to peel off. Took them back the first week of March got them back April 9. The lens are a far cheaper quality of material than i originally had. You can see the Rx numbers in the lenses. Never, never ever go there. This office has been nothing less than amazing!!! I ordered glasses from them because my vision center is closed due to Covid- 19. I am so happy I did because my new prescription from my regular optometrist is incorrect. Therefore I am unable to wear my brand new glasses. I called my vision center to see about an appointment to correct the prescription, and they have decided to close until further notice. I called Northgate back and they have offered to help me out and correct the lenses. All I have to do is pay for the new exam. Which to be honest is way less than having me pay over $400 for the corrected lenses. Northgate has just earned a new client! After they way they have helped me and handled the situation, I am 100% switching to this vision center!!! Thank you guys!!! read more

I'm giving this 3 stars because I have previously had a pleasant experience at this practice. The facility is nice, clean, and inviting. It is local and not far from my home. I've had exams by Dr. Parker and the customer service has been good thus far. Today however, I wouldn't rate my experience NOT good at all. I had a eye appointment at 9:20am. The practice opens at 9am. I arrived at 9:15am and waited for almost 30min without anyone saying anything to me. I politely asked how much longer it would be. My reply was "I'm not sure." I find this unacceptable in that my time is valuable. I didn't arrive late and like others, I am a working adult. I ended up leaving because I was upset that no one even bothered to get up and check to give me some kind of update even after knowing I had been patiently waiting to be seen. Update on 7/20/18 Dr. Parke and her staff wasted no time correcting my visit that occurred on 7/18/18. I received a call from the office manager Allison who was apologetic for my experience. They offered to see me on "my time." I went and they were extremely accommodating. I honestly didn't expect it and was willing to come back because this eye center has been nothing but pleasant in the past. Dr. Parke saw me and personally apologized. I have had terrible customer service in the past at other places but I have NEVER had a establishment rectify it with the level of concern they had for me. For that I am truly grateful and as long as I live in this area, this will be my home for all my future Optometry visits. read more

First visited here and every employee was great, Dr. Lisa Parke was amazing she took great care of me durning the visited and explain every detail so well, also the staff was great making it a great visited also they was very polite with me. Allison was a big help as well when it came to picking out my glasses she gave alot of information about the glasses and the brand that I pick out, this whole team is amazing I am glad to be a patient here. I had a rather difficult experience here. I initially went in for an annual eye appointment, looking to switch from my Acuvue contacts since I was experiencing repeated red eye after moving to NC. Despite having an appointment for 3:30, I wasn't seen until 4, and then kept waiting even longer for the actual doctor exam. She listened and then prescribed me Acuvue again, switching from monthly to dailies. I didn't feel very heard, but figured that the professional knew better than I. They forgot to give me actual prescription so I encountered issues online ordering the contacts when I got home. I was doubtful but went home, tried the sample, and had a reaction the next day. I called back and doctor didn't see me but had me pick up samples and try ANOTHER Acuvue version, along with Alcon Dailies. I chose the latter after trying both. The Alcon lenses ripped three times in the few weeks I had them - twice in my eye, requiring emergency trips to the eye doctor. The first time I could not get an appointment at Northgate, so I was seen as a favor by one of my husband's colleagues at a Ft Bragg clinic. The second time, yesterday, I called Northgate. They said if I came over in the afternoon a tech could look at it and I might be able to get walked-in. I went and the tech examined the eye, saying he didn't see anything. They told me there were no appointments for the afternoon but I could come back the following morning. One of the women gave me her personal cell number. The next morning my eye was still swollen and irritated. By text I was told to come in at 8:50 on the dot and they would see me immediately. I let them know my only time constraint was my daughter's sitter arriving at 9:30 so I could start my workday (I do consulting from home). I arrived at 8:50 and was kept waiting until 9:10, when I heard one of the techs say the doctor hadn't yet arrived. At 9:12, as one of the ladies was telling me to hold tight, Dr. Parke arrived and overheard us talking. She scolded me for assuming I could be walked-in, and told me I needed to "be patient." I was confused if nobody had told her that that I had been told to come in. She was curt and dismissive, saying that I already had this problem and maybe contacts weren't for me. When I reminded her that I've never had contacts rip before she prescribed the Alcon, and that my two emergencies have been since my initial appointment with her, she said, "Maybe contacts just aren't for you." She told me to wait or leave. I told them I was going to go, and don't worry about rescheduling me. Although my first interaction a few weeks ago with the doctor was pleasant, today she was reprimanding me for treating the center like a walk-in clinic. Perhaps today she was just busy and did not appreciate having me tacked on to her schedule. Nevertheless, I left feeling pretty stung by the entire exchange. I left, with my eye still swollen and in pain. I am completely baffled why a problem that has been created for me and my eyes since going to Northgate was being treated like an inconvenience by Dr. Parke. I was also confused why she was so impatient with me, especially when several other people in my office and had given me specific times to expect to be seen and told me that they could meet my time constraints. That said, the front desk women are lovely and welcoming. The techs are excellent. The facility itself is very nice and there is a children's room. But the waiting times, compounded by a provider who has made me feel like an inconvenience, rather than a patient needing assistance, means I will not be returning. ETA - It turned out I DID have over half a contact still stuck in my eye. It stayed there for 2 days, since I was turned away from Northgate twice in a row. I had pain and an infection for over 48 hours. Will definitely be seeking a new care provider who is more willing to respond to urgent issues in a timely manner. read more

Northgate is the BEST! I've been trusting them with my, and my 3 son's, vision needs for over 10 years. Dr. Parke is so kind and knowledgeable. She is even ever informed on rare diseases and the odd things they can do to eyes! I can always count on her for a great exam and quality glasses. Every time I've had eye emergencies, she has worked me in that exact day. I wouldn't trust my families eyes with anyone else! read more

I have been wearing glasses for two years and wanted to get contacts. I have been putting off the exam due to no sitter. The reason I chose Northgate was because of their playroom for kids to use while their parents get their exams. What will keep me coming back, and the reason why I switched mY entire family to Northgate is the people. Everyone is friendly and willing tO jump in to help with kids if they need to. Which was a real help with my 10 month and 2 year old. The evening of my eXam and contact fitting I some how lost one of my contacts, and ended up with an abrasion on my cornea. The office waS closed, my eye was beginning to swell, and I was freaking out. That evening I went to the ER to make sure it was out (it was). On my way home I called the office and left a voicemail about needing an ER follow up for eye injury. They worked hard to get me back in to make sure that I was okay. Dr. Lisa took her time to make certain that the ER did not miss the contact, and that my eye was going to be okay. I was not rushed out of the office after my eye exam. She took her time to make sure that I was also okay mentally because that is new contact wearer worst nightmare. Never have I been to any establishment where the care and customer service are as phenomenal as Northgate. Mediocre or good enough are not words that they try to emulate. read more

I recently had some extreme eye pain and went to North Gate Eye. Dr. Parker saw me immediately and made a quick determination that I had shingles in my eye a very serious condition. She immediately put me on a prescription to stop the problem. She even scheduled me in for an appointment on her off day a Sunday. The condition could have caused me to lose my eyesight. I can't say enough good things how Dr Parker immediately took care of my situation. I now use North Gate Eye for all my visions needs and highly refer them to anyone in need of vision care. read more

Doctor Parke has been treating our family for years. She is an excellent optician and her staff are very courteous and helpful. She even matches Sam's Club prices! She takes Tricare which is great for the surrounding community. All Tricare Prime North patients are eligible for an annual eye exam off base without a referral and she takes care of all the paperwork, you only pay for glasses. She also only charges an additional $20 for contact exams which is a great deal. Highly recommended! read more

We decided to give Northgate a try, because they are close to our home. Seemed to be a lot of people in training, despite being open for months. We waited 45 minutes, then was brought back for an exam when I complained about the wait. There were no other people in the waiting room. The technicians were very nice and competent, as was Dr. Park. She apologized for the wait and thoroughly explained what was happening with our grandson's eyesight. We then waited a half hour with another trainee for fitting glasses. I asked THREE times, if the frames we were looking at were allowable from our grandson's insurance. After an hour, we left thinking the order was complete. Two days later, I got a call stating that they don't take our grandson's insurance for eyeglasses, but they could give us the frames at half price! Also, this Northgate employee told us our grandson's insurance had a SIX MONTH waiting list for glasses! I didn't believe it. I called the insurance company who told it the wait is six WEEKS, not MONTHS. They also referred us to another optician to fill the prescription who filled our prescription without a problem. It seems that Northgate has some issues with personnel and integrity. I would not recommend them. read more

Buyer Beware! Although Dr. Parke was nice, her staff members are a liability. I was originally told my insurance would cover a large % of my exam, glasses, etc. Then when I inquired about the military discount I was told the insurance was cheaper. I paid that amount in full prior to pick up. Then was called back with three different prices before my glasses even made it in. When the glasses were actually ready, almost three weeks later (#ridiculous), was told to pay another price despite being told something else over the phone. Upon arrival, had to explain the entire situation to another staff member and still had to come out of pocket just to leave with them they say due to my insurance. The objective was to get the best deal either insurance or military discount and I am certain I was robbed blind, literally. I never received an apology for wasting my time or having to pay additional money outside of what was originally quoted. To follow all of this frustration I noticed after leaving the prescription didn't seem correct but I'd rather go blind then step foot back in that place again! Save your time and money and find somewhere else that values the full customer experience not just the eye exam. read more

I went to Northgate about a week ago it's a very nice Facility in appearance. My wait wasn't too bad and my eye exam went well and Dr.parke was very Pleasant with me it was my first time there so initially I thought it was great. However whenever I was headed out with Dr.Parke she became very short and rude with her staff. She had a young staff member come up to ask her a question and it must have really rubbed her the wrong way she shoved that poor girl slightly. I acted as if I didn't notice it but I very much noticed it. After I exited the back I could hear her chewing her staff out. I was raised to treat the janitor with the same respect you give the CEO. If you treat your staff that why when they make you business possible I want no parts of it. I will not be going back there she needs to treat her people better. read more

I have since been back to see Dr. Parke with my son. Again, I love this woman! She's an amazing person. My biggest complaint had been the wait time and that was certainly addressed by the time I went back. My son was in and out in 45 minutes. Yay!! read more

So I did not see the doctor here, BUT I did order glasses for my daughter. My experience was absolutely horrible. When picking out glasses for my daughter the experience was descent. The woman who helped us was very nice and helpful. Although, she handed us glasses rather than us picking some out. Fast forward 3 weeks I still have not heard anything from Northgate Eye Center about my daughters glasses. So I decide to go in and see if maybe they just forgot to call me. I talked to a woman who first of all could not even find the glasses or the order. Second, looked like she had no idea what she was doing. I was told that my order was sent out a week and half AFTER I came in! Then, she told me that they only have one of the lenses and that they are still waiting on the the other one. So I was clearly frustrated at this point, so she told me that she would figure it all out and call me the next morning. Two days later and I have not heard anything. So I decided to call and talk to a manager to get my money back because I was just fed up at that point. The manager told me that they could not refund my money because the order had already been placed. She did apologize for everything and gave me an upgrade on my daughters glasses, but I will not be returning. Apparently my daughters glasses will be ready in 3 days... we'll see.
