Our service quit having problems after a month or so and we hadn't really experienced any downtime since. The speeds were consistent and now I feel like an a-hole for reviewing them so badly before. These guys are a joke. They scheduled a cable install with me for between 8-12:00 and didn't show. After waiting for over 6 hours, their installer finally arrived and when I asked why he was late, he said he had problems. When I asked him why he didn't call, he had no answer. Northland has to be the worst business I have ever dealt with. They will make promises and then not fulfill them. They literally lie to their customers and do nothing to resolve issues. I can assure you though, they keep that bill coming with no relief. I have had TV issues for more than 3 months now and I have continually been told that it would be fixed...They knew there were issues when they installed but installed anyway...late of course. Any service is scheduled weeks in the future. I told them that I wanted a refund for the months I did not have television service. I was told that they could not give me a refund until they corrected the issue. Of course, to date, they have not corrected the issues so no refund.... AVOID THIS COMPANY. I have been with Northland Communications for 2 years now for my internet access, which I use for my iPhone, my Apple TV, as well as my laptop and tablet. I have had nothing but problems with this service since day one. My internet has gone through several phases of not working, and the internet support at Northland has been atrocious. Any time they have to send a service technician to my home when my internet service is down, the average wait is 10 days!! Several issues I ended up working through myself through a tedious process of elimination and includes strange fixes which should never be the case. If you have any other options in your area (which unfortunately, I do not). DO NOT CHOOSE Northland as you will be sorely disappointed and continually frustrated. read more

Northland communications cable Internet is garbage. I pay for 24 Mbps download service. I generally get between 2-8Mbps download service on any given night. I call the Tech-support at least twice a week to get help with the extremely slow speeds. After working with tech-support I can expect to get up to 10 Mbps in the evening for a couple nights. I've even had a technician come to the house to make sure everything was working correctly, which it was. The service just cannot handle the amount of people currently using the service. If Northland does not increase its ability to handle the service load I only can see the internet speeds getting slower and slower over time. I wish there was another provider that offers speeds higher than three Mbps in the area so I could switch. read more

My family moved to Marble Falls, TX a few years ago. The small town environment is just what we needed. We love it here. However, the only broadband internet provider in our neighborhood is Northland Communications. They only offer up to 24mbps internet service. The cost is comparable to 100mbps service in other towns nearby, which is ridiculous. The service also completely unreliable. There are frequent slowdowns in speed, weekly, sometimes daily. Service interruptions are very frequent as well. But, perhaps the worst part of doing business with this company is the customer service. Their technical support staff is always available and ready to help, but if you need a technician to come to your home to fix a hardware issue, you will be waiting at least two weeks. While I highly recommend this great town to anyone looking to get away from the crowded nearby cities, make sure you research what ISP is available in your neighborhood before you commit to a move. read more

However, something has changed over the past few months and not for the better. Unfortunately, good customer service is becoming a thing of the past. I live in Llano Tx and I have to say the worst most unreliable internet I have ever seen. We get 1/6th the net we pay for and still have to pay full price. whats bad is nothing is being done about it. We call them all the time and are very nice about it and still nothing. there is about 4-6 people I know in this town that have the exact same problem and they get no help either. Horrible! My internet goes down at least 2x per month. I have never been credited for the inconvenience. The customer service is subpar in this office. I gave 2 stars because the tech support from the 1800 # is awesome! I just don't like the service rendered from the Marble Falls office. read more

Northland is by far THE worst ISP I've ever had to suffer through. If you're an online gamer or even a gamer at all that requires any kind of internet connection, avoid this ISP like the plague. In fact the plague would be a nice change from having to suffer their internet service. They're the kind of ISP that serves small towns and know they're one of the only ISP's in the area so they don't have to care if you're satisfied or not because you're stuck with them. Don't even bother trying to contact their customer service to figure out why the internet is moving slower than a slug in molasses during winter, they'll just give you the typical run around. Also if you're thinking of doing anything online from about 10pm until 8am....LOL don't even bother, they slow their internet down even slower than it is during the day, talking under 100kb/s download speeds. read more

Let me start by saying I do not have cable television. I stream everything via the Internet through Netflix or my Xbox 360. So its safe to say that Internet it a very important part of my life. I live in Marble Falls TX. There are very few providers in this town and 90% of them are not unlimited. They have small caps that I could easily burn through in a weekend with my streaming or gaming. Northland Cable provides an Internet service that is unlimited for 24MPS speeds. I have clocked them numerous times and I usually get around 20 - 24MPS which is great. However they want to charge you almost 80 dollars a month after 6 months of a lower price around 65. I have had multiple issues with the service dropping randomly and being down for days. The Internet was down for a week at my place at one time. Called the Marble Falls office to talk to a lady who doesn't know crap about modems to tell me to unplug it for 30 seconds and wait as if I hadn't already done that. I had to go through two different people at the front desk on different days put me through the same crappy steps they must read on a card. After that headache I was transferred to someone who had some know how on Internet and PC's period... Took him literally two minutes and he noticed the problem. This was after a week. of course... Now I also work from 2pm to 10pm daily. I noticed that on random occasions when I differentiated from my normal schedule my Internet was down. I have a feeling that they track your usage and when you are not home they clock your speeds to free up the servers. I have had to call them to ask if the Internet was down or if any issues were going on. They would assure me everything was okay and randomly it would work again after a short amount of time. Too many times to be random honestly. Is it a bad service? No, for this area it is the best one I think you can get at this time. It is however WAY over priced. 24MPS for 65-80 a month is absolutely retarded but you have no choice. That's what they allow even though they are more than capable of having faster speeds. You can get double that in the city for half the price. They are probably clocking your service when you are not home. Internet does drop from time to time for hours... and the Marble Falls office is useless... Might as well be monkeys. I wrote this review because of Jason's supposed 5 star review. Northland Cable really stinks. We have loss of signal from some channels just about every week, and time and again it is the same ones. Today (the 28th of November) we were told that the earliest they could get a service technician to investigate our problem is the 18th of December, which is about 3 weeks ago. Worst cable provider ever. Hideously expensive for the service provided. Some channels are not even received by Northland via cable from the originator but by antenna. They're only true cable from Northland to the customer. Many channels that screw up constantly. Converter box rental price is ludicrously expensive. Just lost 5 or 6 excellent channels because this terribe company was too stupid to work out a deal with the programmers, yet they not only didn't lower their prices since they were no longer having to pay for all those channels, they increased their prices. Office employees lie to the customers routinely. Look for any other provider than this terrible company.. I have a new provider that is infinitely better. read more
