Brought my friend In for a swab test. The staff was rude, waited for over an hour to get the results. I've gotten a swab test before at another clinic and it only took 10 minutes to get the results back. When we kindly asked if the results were ready, they answered rudely and in an annoyed tone saying they'll let my friend know when the results were ready. During the time we were waiting for the results, none of the nurses came to attend us or update us and they were gossiping. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

I had a horrible experience at this ER. I was in a golf cart accident with two friends. One was taken by ambulance while the other two of us took a cab. While in the waiting room I began to feel considerable pain on my left side and decided I should also get checked out. I was brought in and told to sit in what resembled a plastic waiting room chair against a wall. My friend was being treated in a room very close by so I was trying to keep tabs on what was happening with her as well. After awhile I was taken to get X-rays, and upon returning I asked if it was possible to be in the room with my two other friends instead of sitting outside her room in a plastic chair. I was told I was allowed by the nurse pushing my wheelchair at the time, and she took me into the room. While I was in there, a second male nurse came in and "oh, I see we are just doing whatever we want now" directed at me. I told him I asked and was told it was ok to wait for my X-rays in this room. He said "so much for protocol" with an eye roll. I apologized and asked where he would like me to go. He said "back where I put you". And so I went back to the chair on the wall. By this time, I am scared and in extreme pain, and have yet to have anyone treat me with much kindness. Bedside manner at this place, I'm my opinion, is non existent. Eventually, a Dr came to where I was sitting and said the X-rays of my ribs showed nothing broken and I should take ibuprofen, she would give a Rx and suggested I followed up with my PCP. I was not shown the X-rays. I then told her that I quite possibly would be here for some time waiting for my friend to be treated as she had a head wound, and was there anyway I could have some ibuprofen at this time. She said yes. No one ever brought me anything. Finally after another almost 2 hours sitting in the chair and in great pain, I asked if I could go ahead and get that Ibuprofen I was promised. I received it, with a huff from the nurse. I will give a kind word for one female nurse who at one time handed out warm blankets and gave me one which I immediately expressed my gratitude for. That was the only time during the 6 hours I was at this ER that I felt cared for at all and as if I wasn't a complete burden by being there. I did follow up with my Doctor and my X-rays showed a clearly broken rib. So not only was this establishment considerably unfriendly, but they also failed to diagnose me correctly. read more

Absolute RIP OFF. First, the phone number on Google is not correct so you can't even call them ahead of time. Upon arriving, I filled out their arrival form and clearly stated verbally (& wrote on the form), that I was there for the monoclonal antibodies. I was then rushed into a treatment room without any pre-consult (evidently, so they could start the billing). Once in the examination room I was immediately told that, as of TODAY, they were no longer administering that treatment. That outcome could and should have been determined prior to my 'admittance'. Then they told me to stay in the room while my paperwork was completed.. I waited 10 min for my paperwork which was 9 minutes longer than they spoke to me about not being able to provide treatment. I was charged $350.00 (plus whatever they billed my insurance company) to tell me that they were not able to offer treatment. UNPROFESSIONAL CASH GRAB.... I do wonder, though how long it will take them to attach their canned response (We regret that this experience fell short of expectation. my wife and I were on vacation and she developed a UTI. We went into the ER and ask if we could get a prescription for the UTI. Had to talk to a Doctor, which is understandable. He agreed from the symptoms that she was right. We had no testing done. We were there for 15 minutes and got a bill from the ER for 1575.00 and the Doctor for 717.00. Had we known we would have just gone home. We made several phone calls and was able to negotiate the price down some but still paid 1510.45. What has happened to our health care system? read more

I've gone there on two encounters. The first one, I had busted my toe knuckle open and was to receive stitches. My doctor put 3 stitches in, which after I did my research I found out I very obviously needed more stitches. They had done 3 X-rays on my foot and saw no internal damage. Here I am 2 weeks later, my first two toes numb, and I get a shooting pain across my foot when I put too much pressure. Today I had my second encounter. I went in with a swollen lip, which we made clear we weren't sure if it was an insect bite, allergy reaction, or a trauma case. We explained the symptoms I had previously went through, but seemed as if the doctor was just not listening. He gave me 4 doses of Benadryl, 2 pepcide, and a shot of steroids. Not sure of the dosage of that. At the end of the day, I went there because my lips looked like some kind of botched episode and I just wanted the swelling gone, and now my left side has downsized to normal but my right side , well it's barely something to be called a lip. **forgot to mention, when getting the three stitches, the doctor did NOT wait long enough for the surface to completely numb, so the stitching hurt worse than the original injury!! read more

I am an insulin dependent diabetic, and I was seen at Northshore Emergency Center in Portland, Texas on 10/22/18 at around 5:00 pm complaining of severe right eye pain, and a cut to my face, after falling in my home. I had taken my morning insulin, and was returning home for lunch, when a friend asked me to help him move a refrigerator up 2 flights of stairs, which I did. After that I went home, Before I could eat, I became very dizzy and fell, cutting my face and injuring my right eye. I immediately ate 6 peanut butter cups, and once no longer dizzy, drove myself to Northshore Emergency Center. The cut was small, and did not concern me as much as my eye did. My vision was blurry, and I could not tell if my eye had been cut, or if a foreign body was in it, I was brought back quickly to the ward, and my history and vital signs were taken. My glucose was 166 (after 6 peanut butter cups). My nurse, at that time, gave me a tetanus shot, put in an IV line in my arm, drew blood for labs, and left, leaving a Wood's light and eye drops in the room. A female doctor came and briefly examined me. She asked "how many fingers do you see", and had me follow her finger with my eyes. As she prepared to leave I asked about the cut on my face, and she replied "we can steri-strip it" and left. I laid on the cart in severe pain for more than an hour before an attendant came to take me for a head CT scan. I explained to him that I knew the reason I fell and that I didn't feel that I needed a head CT. He left and returned 45 minutes later with a partial AMA for me to sign relieving them of any liability just in case I had a skull fracture or a cranial bleed, which I did. I laid on that cart for 2 hrs, listening to the doctors, technicians, and staff laughing, and joking about me, and some of their personal matters, without lifting a finger to examine my eye. A male doctor came over to finally look at my eye. He put some numbing drops in my eye, and before the medication could work, jabbed a DRY dye strip in it (which hurt like hell). After examining the eye with a black light, he told me that I had a "huge" corneal abrasion, gave me a Rx for antibiotic drops, and left. A different nurse came in the room to give my discharge papers. I asked him if they were still going to address the cut on my face, and he said he had no orders for it. I had to go to the doctor and ask to have the cut repaired. He agreed. The nurse cleaned the cut with liquid soap and water until it bled again. He then put 3 steri-strips on it..wet. They came off before I left the facility. I was never told the results of my blood work, but was happy to leave. After a careful, fretful, single eye'd drive home the pain returned full force. I phoned Northshore to ask for a prescription for pain medication, and was informed by the nurse that I needed to come back to the center, re-register, and be re-evaluated before any pain medication would be prescribed. My depth perception was still severely decreased. I felt lucky just to make the drive home, and was not going to drive back. I feel the care I received was unprofessional, and substandard. A. Update: after speaking with Ashley Kelly who is the manager of the billing department she was able to get my billing situation taken care of. However, I am extremely disappointed after speaking with Pam Dancer, who oversees the way the hospital is run. While explaining my situation to her, she was completely unphased by my concern in regards to HIPAA. She stated that she has chosen to run her emergency room that way because it is not a clinic but an emergency room and it makes things go faster. "if she can get someone in a chair then they are able to determine if that person needs immediate medical care or not." I've always been under the impression that that was the point of being triaged at the beginning? She then told me that HIPAA is not being violated because the doctors and nurses are not making comments to identify the person or the condition and used the example of "they're not going to say 'so and so has chlamydia' loud enough so you can hear". when I told her that it WAS being said loud enough so I could hear (and was even joked about for several patients) and it IS done so in a way to identify the patient and their condition (not to mention you're ten feet away from the nurses station) and gave examples of what I heard that night she did not care. I could hear her putting the phone on the counter while I would talk and then she would pick up and ask me if there was anything else she could do for me. I finally asked her if she even cared about the fact that I was concerned in regards privacy; she asked me if there was anything else she could do. I asked her to answer my question again because I am very upset with her lack of concern for HIPAA she laughed at me. I asked for her bosses name so I could speak with someone who actually cares and she said ok and hung up on me.
