Ever since all the hospitals merged and became Endeavor Health, things have gone significantly downhill. My son and husband are in the NorthShore network and I go to Northwest Community. If it weren't for my doctors whom I love so much, I would have left this practice. The buildings are dirty. A couple of years ago, we went to Evanston hospital and they put us (my young son) in an emergency room with dried blood. I didn't notice until we were done with our appointment and I started looking around. It was on the sink, the bed rail, the curtain. I was going to seriously report them to the health department, but my husband said to let it go. The referral process is a JOKE. You are constantly having to jump through hoops only to be told no. And unfortunately referrals have to go through your medical group before insurance. It's too much to deal with. They don't care about the patients. It's all about money. read more

Had to go into the emergency room for a slight medical emergency last night. I cannot speak highly enough about the experience I had at the NorthShore ER. The nurse practitioner I had was one of the most kind and compassionate doctors I've ever come across, and the rest of the staff made my visit swift and comfortable. I always dread ER visits, but this was literally the best experience I could've had, given the situation of course. read more

My waits at this office are still tending to annoy me. But that's about the only downside. I like the ability to access everything from online; everything seems to be up to date as far as technology is concerned. The Staff: Generally very nice. I haven't had a person that I didn't like or who I thought had a bad attitude. Generally, I think they are pretty funny and like to make people laugh. The Service: Like I said, the wait sucks sometimes. I wish they would get more organized about that. Other than that, they are very attentive and listen to your needs. Can I give anti stars? I will first say that I LOVE my PCP and my Gyno. LOVE them It is the only reason I'm staying. However, the system itself is the worst system I've ever worked with 1) they are *compleatly* uncoordinated and disorganized. The non-medical staff are completely ignorant of protocol and do not have the slightest information on anything outside of their area. 2) I've had multiple HIPPA violations happen (all minor) 3) The Endocrinologist I went to was completely condescending and the source of 2 of the HIPPA violations. 4. The ER Staff was condescending and overmedicated someone. read more

In March, I had my annual wellness check, and I would like to test my A1C cause I'm between overweight and obesity. I called my insurance company first and they told me that my insurance covers that. So I went to Dr Laura Shu's office, and told her my weight concern and would like to get my blood test. Let's skip the part on how rude she was and directly get to the bill. They filed the wrong code to my insurance company and charged me the full price. So I called my insurance company and understood what's the problem. My insurance company called the NorthShore billing office, told them to correct the code and refile the claim in Apirl, very easy procedure. I also asked Dr Shu to change the billing code so that my insurance company can accept, and she said she had changed it. I have been calling the billing office for the code updating progress, its been 8 months, no updates!!! Every time I called the billing office, they told me the coding office is reviewing. Its been almost a year, and they did NOTHING! Its a really messed up system in NorthShore, if you don't want to be overcharged and endlessly waiting for correcting the claim, find some other clinic. Well they took forever to refile the claim, but they had been sending the bill very frequently. read more

I've been to Northshore on a few occasions. First time at the Davis St. location, I explained to the doctor that meds given to me by another doc weren't working. I requested a blood test, but he decided to instead give me another dose of similar antibiotics and steroids. After two weeks of no progress (yet again), I went back and scheduled an appointment for noon. After waiting over an hour, I asked the receptionist if I would be seen anytime soon, since I have a job and all. She informed me that he hadn't yet seen his 11 a.m. appointment and asked me if I would be willing to see another doctor at 2 p.m. Well, since I scheduled an appointment for noon, no, I didn't want to see a doctor at 2. After arguing with her over getting my co-pay back, I left and don't plan on ever going back. Oh, and I still feel like shit after over two months of no one there being willing to give me a blood test. This place is the worst of the worst. read more

Had an Ultrasound there which lasted about 30 minutes. Even after our health insurance picked up 50% of it, they charged us over $1,100.00 for just an Ultrasound. They pile on the money with equipment charges, doctor consultation, office time, etc. They sent THREE, yes 3 separate bills, including one to the wrong person! The last bill came 30 days after we paid the first 2. The people I spoke to in the billing department on the phone (Colleen and Rebecca) were less than helpful, the first of which was awfully rude. In short, I consider it robbery. Go elsewhere, save money and hours on the phone. Awful experience. read more

My primary care physician is very kind, intelligent, and hard working. Whenever I come in, he takes the time to listen and help with whatever I need. He's 5* Scheduling appointments online is a very convenient feature. Additionally, medical records and messaging online is nice. 4* Unfortunately, wait times for scheduled appointments are bad and getting worse. I typically wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, but which is very frustrating. They stack up their patients. This seems to be a larger HMO problem, where doctors only get paid by patient and only allowed a few minutes per patient. 2* for the process. read more

Today's appointment was ridiculously frustrating. I received a call saying that I needed a physical in order to renew my prescriptions. I scheduled a physical and fasted so I could get labs done. I received none of the above today. Was told "the system" had scheduled me for only 20 minutes, not long enough for a physical, and the lab is closed on Saturday. Get your act together NorthShore. Not cool. I paid a $50 copay for absolutely nothing. read more

My primary doctor is the best! I have been diagnosed with APS a blood clotting disease. I now need to see an Rhematologist! Get this the next Appointment is October unless I want to drive 20 plus miles one way to see someone else in AUGUST. Whomever they merge with has brought down the standard of care and services . This review pertains to the entire NorthShore University HealthSystems empire, including Evanston/Davis Street, Evanston Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, Skokie Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, and maybe a couple of others that I forgot. My dependents have used these various facilities during the past couple of years. (I personally have never used them for myself). Many of the physicians and other service providers are quite capable, even expert. Others are kind of rigid and unhelpful. I'm aware of none who seemed incompetent. HOWEVER, administratively this empire is a mess. They cannot get their billing straight. Despite paying an obscene amount for "health insurance" each month, I am confronted by various bills, large and small, without rhyme or reason. THEY ARE UNABLE TO GIVE ANY ONE PERSON A SINGLE ACCOUNT NUMBER. They do not post any mailing address to write to (letters to the billing address are ignored.) We even got a letter from them recently asking us to phone them to provide information they need (no mention of what that information might be, just a threat that they won't file a claim for me if we don't help), then when we called they were "closed for training." Yeah they need training. Beyond billing problems, they have a silly automated appointment confirmation system that assumes whoever answers the phone is the one who has the appointment. And I am told that, when you make an appointment, you're not supposed to have any choice as to which doctor you'll see (but staff are able to subvert this if they like you.) Perhaps the most discouraging thing is to look at their annual report and see the hundreds of people who have donated money to them. DON'T DO THAT. GIVE YOUR MONEY TO SOMEONE WHO CAN KEEP TRACK OF IT. No matter how good their doctors might be, I hope I'll never have to use their services myself because it would merely add to the billing confusion. read more

You know what? I'm fed up with Western medicine. I have been going to this office for about 6 years. My primary physician - I have never really been too impressed with. Every time I go for walk in appointment I get a different doctor, equally unimpressive. I really need to change groups. read more

I was so thrilled when I went to the Evanston branch of Northshore Medical. The Dr. I saw was kind and attentive, the nurses both times I went to this clinic were beyond outstanding. I could not have been more pleased until I got the bill. This establishment (during a recession) charges a person without insurance $200.00 per office visit. Mind you I called ahead of time, was told that they made accomodations for uninsured patients. I even mentioned that I was currently unemployed. If this is the price they charge to accomodate people, I shudder to find out what the everyday price is! Unless you're heavily insured, do not step foot in this establishment. More's the pity. Northshore owns a company called Home Medical Express. They will have you order CPAP part from them. Home Medical Express is the most terrible company that I have ever experienced. The customer service is literally the worst that I have interacted with. They lie, the representatives act confused until you give in and pay their surprise bills. I'm leaving a good doctor because this recommendation was so bad. Northshore is dragging their name through the mud because of their affiliation with Home Medical Express. They charge three or four times what things are worth and insurance covers half, you are much better off just buying everything online from Amazon. read more

I have been going to NorthShore Medical Group in Evanston for 26 years. I have always seen Dr.Edward A. Blumen, M.D. He is the only doctor in my 26 years of living in Chicago that I have seen... His competence and attention to detail are admirable, as is his thoroughness in making certain that patients are fully informed. read more

Sorry to read posts of those who had less than satisfactory experiences. My experience has been the opposite. PCP is great, and have not experienced a long wait time. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is, agreeing with one post, they can be a bit pricey at times. read more

worst experience ever - showed up for a walk-in and waited nearly 2 hours and was told i had to wait even longer because the doctor has to see other patients with appointments. totally disrespectful and unprofessional as they could have told me much earlier if it was going to take that long. Dr. Ward was the doctor on call and has zero respect for patients' time as only wanted to keep patients waiting. Would NOT recommend this clinic, especially Dr. Ward. would give negative stars if i could. What's the point of accepting walk-in's but making patients wait forever. read more

I see Dr. Courtney Weems at NorthShore Medical Group in Evanston. She is a wonderful Pediatrician and takes great care of my three children, one with special needs. She takes her time and really listens at our appointments. She is very prompt which is important when you have 3 kids! She also answers my emails and phone calls quickly when I have questions or concerns. read more
