If it weren't for my doctors whom I love so much, I would have left this practice. The buildings are dirty. A couple of years ago, we went to Evanston hospital and they put us (my young son) in an emergency room with dried blood. I didn't notice until we were done with our appointment and I started looking around. It was on the sink, the bed rail, the curtain. I was going to seriously report them to the health department, but my husband said to let it go. The referral process is a JOKE. You are constantly having to jump through hoops only to be told no. And unfortunately referrals have to go through your medical group before insurance. It's too much to deal with. They don't care about the patients. It's all about money.

In labor and delivery, the nurse told us that the facility was recently updated. All the medical equipment was new, and the fetal monitor they used was even wireless. The only slight hiccup was that there was nearly no room in postpartum care. Fortunately, we got the last room in the overflow floor. Having giving birth in another state, I was extremely impressed by how updated everything was in the overflow room - the shower was brand new, and the bed could be operated to lengthen or sit at various angles. For pain management, I was a little surprised that their policy is to give ibuprofen only upon request. At the previous hospital I was at, they had a regimen switching between Tylenol and ibuprofen. Parking was probably the most difficult part. The main parking lot is a little far, and you have to use a different entrance if you're coming in the evening (rather than the main entrance of the women's hospital). However, when we left, my partner was able to temporarily park in the rotunda to make the commute a little shorter.

I got so lost just trying to park and find a level to cross over to the hospital entrance. Make sure you go to ground level and make your way over to the entrance. Nurses and doctors are great. Also there's a hallway connecting the main hospital to the cancer center so you don't have to leave the parking lot to go there. Part of the maze that's not as bad. Parking is $4 on the Kellogg side for up to 6hrs the. It jumps to $20! If you're on the Kellogg side, you can get a parking sticker which reduces it back to $4. On the hospital side I don't think you can get a sticker so we'll be paying $20! If you're in the Evanston area then this is a good hospital option. If not, it's not worth driving from far away.

Do not come here…read more Inadequate care for the amount you charge patients. What they do not tell you is that they just provide the hospital but contract physicians, and services to patients. That means the hospital isn't the only bill you will receive. I've received 3 bills from separate entities from my hospital visit. Right when I think I've paid one, another comes for me. I'll never return again. Go to urgent care or Northwestern Medical Hospital.

I had the "privilege" of overhearing how they feel about their clients. "Oh, I hate the perimenopause ones- IM FAT AND HAVE SYMPTOMS BUT I DONT WANT TO GO ON MEDICATION AND GAIN MORE WEIGHT". "THE NEWBIE GYNES ARE SO CUTE WITH THEIR STIs." I was stunned. I went to the restroom, came out, and Dr. Plawyer's nurse was waiting for me. I told her of the incident and she said "I'm sorry to hear that" and then went over my med list and medical history while I'm on the verge of tears. I finally stood up and said "I'm leaving." I did receive a voicemail apologizing and saying it was addressed. However, as a nurse for the past 10 years I understand on a deeper level that the comfort they felt talking about patients at work indicates a culture of not respecting their patients. When we go to the doc we want to feel heard, be taken seriously, and be met with empathy and assistance. I no longer believe this happens at this clinic. Find a clinic that doesn't mock their patients.

If you call the corporate office number, if you can even find it, they can't help you because they are a different office. Midwest Center means nothing other than a common name, like going to a Shell gas station, one has nothing to do with another. Took me multiple requests, over a period of more than 3 years to get my medical records transferred to my new doctor, which were finally transferred as of this year, 2025. Good Lord. I've found Oakton Park Medical Center to be extraordinarily competent from the front desk to the doctors. And they are technologically advanced - you get notifications, online access, electronic sign-in... even a tablet if the front desk is occupied. Doctors listen and explain everything. There's no rushing you out. No rushing you off the phone. If you have a question, they answer confidently and competently and do what they say. It's a medium sized office and they do stuff like ultrasound and labwork in-house so you don't need to run around for everything. One little thing I'm slightly concerned about is if under an HMO (since you need to see your PCP) an appointment will be available on short notice like a walk-in. Some larger places have walk-in hours, but that's not really a huge issue for me and I'm pretty sure they'd accommodate anybody in need based on the situation as they've been nothing but helpful with me. In my past experience with a Northshore Health office, my past provider was similar to ATT or Comcast - just too big and clumsy... Rude front desk that was too busy to answer you. My doctor would come in, see me for maybe 5 minutes, then walk out for five minutes. Then walk in for another minute and that's my appointment. If there's a billing issue, there'd be nobody competent enough to help you or if there was, good luck figuring who that is. At the time I had a PPO. After a couple years my specific Blue Cross PPO was no longer accepted by Northshore but nobody thought to check before my appointments. So I started getting charged out of network and I didn't understand what was happening so I paid. And they keep sending bills for something they should have caught. So I don't want Oakton Park to be too busy and turn into this mess, but they deserve the gratitude. A breath of fresh air in Skokie.

I was scheduled for a…read moreroutine colonoscopy and was freaked the hell out about being ass invaded as that was uncharted territory. I had heard horror stories from others who had the procedure, and while necessary, it sounded painful and very much like you knew someone had been up there. I arrived at the lab and the nurse who checked me in was very nice. Not sure if she could see the fear in my eyes, but she was very lovely in getting my vitals and making small talk to calm me down. Once I got into the room to change, that is when the magic happened. I am going to say that for a procedure like this and me being terrified, Dr. Michael Goldberg and his team did an excellent job on executing this procedure. He and his team were very polite and courtesy, explaining the process without talking down to me. Once I woke up in recovery, there was follow up to see how I was doing. I am happy to say that I don't remember anything once the drugs were administered other than counting back from 100 and waking up in recovery. There was no indication that I had been ass invaded...no feeling whatsoever. Going to say that the most painful part of the whole experience was drinking the crap to prepare the colon for the process...it is supposed to be lemon line, but it had an after taste like weak powdered milk that made me want to puke. About a week or so after the procedure, Dr. Michael Goldberg and his team sent me a best wishes card that they all signed. That was totally unexpected and a very nice touch. If you have Blue Cross/Blue Shield and need a colonoscopy, get thee to Evanston Northwestern and Dr. Michael Goldberg and his team. First rate treatment all the way.

The Rogers Park branch is so much nicer than the Evanston branch. When I used to go to Evanston, there were a few girls that avoided eye contact and basically just talked to each other about their dating life. They looked almost annoyed to see patients there. My doctor used to come to this location once a week after my prior doctor moved to a suburban branch. I loved both doctors so I dealt with the nursing staff. I'm realizing that even though the Rogers Park location isn't in the greatest neighborhood and the Evanston one is safer to get to, I prefer the Rogers Park branch. Everybody in there is just really nice. You get a weird vibe from the Evanston one. I stopped going here once my doctor exclusively moved to Rogers Park, and it hit me that I'm happier here. I do hope Evanston gets it together. The vibe in there reminds me of Cermak Fresh Market. Black people who have been there know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.
