RENTER BEWARE! You'd better read this because trust me, you will never read your rental contract…read more If you close out your account on the first of the month (like, on the date you'd move into a new house or apartment), Public Storage will CHARGE YOU FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. I moved out the afternoon of July 1 and was charged for an entire month, or 600% of the half day my stuff was in their storage facility. This is a patently unfair policy and the very worst kind of corporate bad behavior. The site manager said that he'd talk to his supervisor and I'd get an email. No email. Next thing you know was a call from a collection agency. I told them to F-off. Then I called customer service and I got the usual mealy-mouthed excuse of "well, that's company policy and while I understand your situation, there's nothing I can do about it." In my entire time on this planet I've never come across any company that was this rigid. Utter B.S. So if you like being completely screwed, use Public Storage. But you'd better clear out your crap at the end of the month. Oh, what's that, you can't move into the new place until the first of the month. I don't have any suggestions. Maybe you should put it in a storage facility...or, maybe not. To the corporate management of Public Storage--there is a special place in hell for you uncaring bastards who take advantage of people who are stressed out by moving. I hope your facilities stay empty for all eternity.

ONE STAR -- ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE…read more I have rented from U-Haul for YEARS and have never experienced anything remotely as unprofessional as what happened at the Salem location with employees Jamie and Jonah. I had a confirmed 24-hour reservation. I received NO phone call, NO email, NO text message, and absolutely no warning that my reservation was going to be canceled. I arrived and was told that because I was roughly 10 minutes late, they canceled my reservation. Their explanation? "It's August. It's college month. That's what we do." What kind of policy is that? If someone reserves a vehicle for 24 hours, how does it make any sense whatsoever to cancel their reservation TEN MINUTES after the pickup time without even attempting to contact them? When I questioned how ridiculous this was and explained that I've rented from U-Haul for years and have never heard of this happening, the situation became exponentially worse. Instead of attempting to explain the policy professionally or help resolve the problem, Jamie and Jonah became hostile and verbally abusive. I was spoken to with a level of disrespect I genuinely cannot believe came from employees representing a national company. I was told, in substance, that they "didn't give a flying fuck" that I wasn't getting what I wanted. That is absolutely insane behavior from customer-facing employees. Forget the reservation issue for a second -- policies can be frustrating and misunderstandings happen. But there is ZERO excuse for two employees to gang up on a customer, swear at them, verbally abuse them, and act like they couldn't care less about resolving the situation. I am formally reporting this experience to U-Haul corporate and expect it to be investigated. I will also be following up because I want to know what action was taken regarding the way these employees conducted themselves. After years of giving U-Haul my business, this is easily the worst customer-service experience I have ever had with the company. Completely unacceptable, completely unprofessional, and an embarrassment to the U-Haul name. Avoid this location.
