I arrived at approximately 9:30 AM because I was experiencing excruciating pain in my knee and needed to be evaluated. When I arrived, I spoke with the clerk at the front desk, who checked me in and told me that it should not take very long to be seen. After checking in, I remained in the front lobby for approximately an hour and a half. During this time, multiple patients who arrived after me were checked in and called to the back before I was. I was repeatedly told that someone would bring a wheelchair out to get me because of the condition of my knee, but a significant amount of time passed before anyone came to assist me. Once I was finally taken to the back, the appropriate questions were asked, and I was placed in a room. I was then told that a doctor would be in shortly. However, I sat in the room for approximately 30 additional minutes without anyone coming in or communicating with me. Because I needed to use the restroom, I eventually left the room in my wheelchair and asked one of the staff members at the center desk how much longer I would have to wait. I was told that there were three people ahead of me. I was extremely confused and frustrated because I had been there for well over an hour and a half, and I had arrived before many of the patients who had already been seen. I then went back to the front desk and explained the situation to the clerk. I explained that I had been waiting for an extended period of time and that I was experiencing severe pain. She stated that she would communicate with the staff in the back and that someone would come speak with me. I waited another 10-15 minutes, but once again, no one came to check on me or provide any explanation. At that point, I was in too much pain and was extremely frustrated by the lack of communication and attention to my situation. I ultimately had no choice but to leave and go to Piedmont Hospital on Cascade to seek medical attention. I understand that urgent care facilities can become busy, but what was most upsetting was the lack of communication, the excessive wait time, and feeling as though my condition was being overlooked despite being in excruciating pain and requiring assistance with a wheelchair. I am requesting that this situation be reviewed, including the handling of my check-in, wait time, communication from staff, and the order in which patients were being seen. This will be my last visit to this location…read more I have a sinus infection. Had them before. Sometimes I get one in the Spring. Know exactly what's going on. Know what the effective treatment has been every time. I haven't been sick long enough with it apparently. As I've had a sinus infection 3 years ago, they asked if I'd seen an ENT. Waste of half a day off work. Had poison ivy. Had it before. Knew exactly what's was going on. Knew when, where and how I got it. When poison ivy starts sprouting, I will come in contact with it because I don't see it. Argued with me as to what it was and didn't want to treat it. I had to demand the effective treatment of steroids and cream. Had an ear ache. Knew what my symptoms were. It was Summer. Had been to the beach. 3 trips to this location for three different incorrect and unsuccessful diagnoses. They went as far as to tell me I had a fungal ear infection and I needed an ENT. Nope. Went to my GP and they removed wax buildup I had pushed deep by accident. Instantly better. Listening to the patient and treating them the first time is all I'm looking for. This location demonstrates they cannot do that. Not steering me to an ENT 5 weeks in the future. I have had multiple visits that resulted in incorrect or unreliable treatment. All the ailments were run of the mill, seasonal situations, with easy, common remedies. This ain't an episode of HOUSE. Edit: they did finally give me a script for antibiotics, so the visit wasn't a whole washout. One star added back.

I was greeted as I walked in which is a plus because sometimes cs folks can be unpleasant. My wait was under 10 minutes. My triage personnel was just too cute and very polite. She took my vitals, told me what there were and ASKEd me if I wanted too be weighed....lol. I did and that was good too.... My physician was very knowledgeable about my condition and she subscribed me a bunch of stuff to take care of my pain and condition. I truly recommend Piedmont. This is my first time at this location, I have visited the Camp Creek location also and top tier just busier. Thanks for a stressless visit. I came to the emergency room because I believed I was experiencing a medical emergency--not because I had a choice. I left not only grateful for the medical care, but shocked by the charges that followed. As an insured, working American who pays taxes and health insurance premiums, I found it difficult to understand how basic items and routine services could be billed at prices that seem disconnected from reality. Patients don't comparison-shop during emergencies, and they shouldn't be financially punished for seeking care. The standard response is always, "That's just how healthcare works." But those prices are set by people. Leadership chooses the policies that determine what patients are charged. The medical staff earned my appreciation. The billing practices earned this review. I hope the leadership of this organization takes a hard look at whether its financial priorities truly reflect its mission to care for the community.
