Throughout the years, all four of my children have been enrolled in various programs/classes. My three boys all started with the Hockey Skills offering in the Learn to Skate Program. Afterwards they went on and continued with the Learn to Skate program which is geared towards figure skating. This gave them a great base for playing travel and high school hockey. My daughter started in Learn to Skate and went on to private instruction and to eventually teach in the Learn to Skate program. She participated in many competitions and this gave her good experience with handling pressure, gaining confidence, and staying fit. Initially, we had no idea the impact that the Amherst Skating Club would have on our family. Enrolling our kids in Learn to Skate was a great move and helped all my kids stay in shape and become very good skaters. My daughter went on for years and was very active with the club. It was a great experience and feel fortunate to have been enrolled in many of their program offerings.

The cost for the shelter for the day ($80.00), the deposit ($300.00) which I'll get back the day after if no one destroys it. Rules, permit, etc.... It serves children in the area of Buffalo, and many of them are very clearly talented. Apparently, this group has been around since 1959 and the league offers a whole range of programs for children of different ages and skill levels. They have Tee Ball, baseball, softball, camps, participate in tournaments and also organize events. And the league has also enjoyed competitive success over the years, winning New York State Little League championships, including state titles in the past. Also, the park for their game play has several fields and a concession stand with pretty good burgers, hot dogs and nachos. They also have soda and water on site and are pup friendly. Family fun all around -- and a bit of competition.

First thing, they have their own protective gear for you to wear so you don't hurt yourselves, but they do also have you sign a waiver. They give you a choice of a "weapon" to smash things with - baseball bat or a gold club. They had a milk carton of glass wear for us to smash together and even a barrel. What I love is that you release all this stress and sweat so much from one session! Smash Brothers Rage room is something totally different in Buffalo and I highly recommend this place for date location or for a team bonding event. They allow for skate rentals, bring your own skates, walkers to borrow for those unsteady on skates, and an area to practice. Their is a ref, snack bar, themed skate nights and music. I haven't been on real skates probably since I was about 10. I had such an amazing time and want to go back when it's less crowded. I happened to go when there was also a silent disco happening which made it even more amazing! Some people skated and did the disco, other chose to hang out and just do the disco. Whatever you preferred was fine. The disco had 3 stations to choose from and everyone was having a ball. Pricing was very reasonable. $6 adult admission, $4 skate rental and the silent disco headphones were $5. You only had to pay for what you needed. There were plenty of rentals available, Pro Tip- women's sizing ran really big. So if you need skates bring some higher socks to protect your ankles and head down for a great time. At different times the rink was a little crowded. Since most people aren't used to skating it could be a little tricky to get around. It definitely took me a few laps to get used to not being on stable ground. After about 30 minutes we were tired and were happy to leave the growing crowd. There were walker type devices to help you get your footing down if you needed some help. One of the more treacherous parts was skating on the sidewalk and into the rink. It might not be a bad idea to put on your skates near the entrance. You can also walk sideways up and down the ramp so you don't roll up and down. They are open most days until the end of October. There isn't really any seating .. a couple of benches and picnic tables. You have to bring your own chair in. They cut the "field" in half for the younger kids (referring to soccer here because that's what I come here for) and this results in balls from other games going on coming onto each other's playing fields. The worst part of this place is that smells like sweaty .. ummm .. "soccer" balls. As soon as you walk in the smell hits you in the face. I smell it every time I come in and I want to throw up. The turf is nice. I will say that.
