Hamlin Park is a staple site of East Aurora. I learned the park is 16 acres large and has been around since 1899! The old trees are a sight to see, and the area feels like you're right in nature. The playground is vast and somewhat outdated, but the kids don't seem to mind. Many events take place here, too, including performances by the Aurora Players Theater and the Rotary Bandstand. Cars aren't allowed, and parking is limited; you might have to find parking on one of the side streets. I noticed there are restrooms too, and a couple of picnic shelters. Leave your beer, your dog and your snowmobile at home; they're not allowed, along with some other items you might want to look up before venturing out. It's a great public park and worth a stopover to relax and enjoy nature on one of the benches or bring a picnic and enjoy your time at one of the picnic tables. Truly, something for everyone.

The park had vendors, people were picnicking, kids were playing, there was a band and baseball field. Hamlin Park was out of a Hallmark Movie. Hallmark should not only continue to use Viddler's as a location for movies, but should also include this park for a summer movie location. They have an indoor casino (not the gambling kind) that you can rent and plenty of outdoor space. The restrooms are pretty far apart from eachother so I would recommend scoping it all out before you book one. My only complaint about this park is that there aren't a ton of sports facilities. There is a tennis court and a basketball court. But no soccer field? Or baseball? There is so much wasted space that could be used for these activities. The very best part of the entire park is the dog park though!!

CRG just recently celebrated its two year anniversary and I went to climb this past weekend. I love…read morethis gym and its community-centric vibe. Management is great and the climbing problems are varied to the point where you simply won't find a local gym with the diversity of climbing challenges that CRG offers. They have been great to climb at during COVID and feel safe doing so with mask-mandates and other procedures. They have done away with the enforced timeslot reservations, but they worked well during the height of the pandemic to ensure capacity was kept low. If you're looking for a gym, CRG not only has climbing but a separate facility and room with treadmill, weights and a yoga room as well. The classes are free for members. I usually just come here to climb, but will occasionally run or bike using their gym facilities. I usually get here at least once or twice a week and this is a great place to help get you through a Buffalo-winter.

It's a lovely nature preserve-style park way out in the middle of nowhere, between Lancaster and Alden, below Clarence and way above Elma. If that doesn't mean anything to you, don't worry. I live right next to this park, relatively speaking. I just drive straight down Ransom from near my house, and I'm there. It's a wonderfully convenient thing for me because the park is really great. It's pretty bleak in the winter, but in the summer it's wonderful. It's also massive... much bigger than people realize. The convenience makes me want to give it a 5, and I love coming here, but compared to my fave spots in WNY, this is more like a 4 star park. It's secluded with winding trails and wildlife and lots of people walking dogs and such. I may bring Starlight and My Son here one of these days, I need to buy some kitten harnesses first. How adorable will that be. Very solid 4 stars for a lovely place to go.

There isn't really any seating .. a couple of benches and picnic tables. You have to bring your own chair in. They cut the "field" in half for the younger kids (referring to soccer here because that's what I come here for) and this results in balls from other games going on coming onto each other's playing fields. The worst part of this place is that smells like sweaty .. ummm .. "soccer" balls. As soon as you walk in the smell hits you in the face. I smell it every time I come in and I want to throw up. The turf is nice. I will say that.

It was renamed in 1977. Sadly the park was partially destroyed to build the Kensington Expressway. Prior to that it was connected to Delaware Park. IN recent years the park has had some much needed renovation. The wading po0l is back in use and there is skating in the winter when the weather allows. The park does have the typical basketball courts, tennis courts and playgrounds one expects. There are nice picnic tables and plenty of shade. This is a park to think about as you plan a trip to the Science Museum. weather permitting, its a nice outdoor space with easy parking and well managed grounds.
