We got up to the entera de and paid $7 to park and walk around a whole preserved Oregon park! It was so worth it because there were very few people there (compared to any other beach we've been to north of Tillamook). We drove around, parked, and walked on some of the trails to start out. We went over to the lighthouse that's kind of stunning because it's been kept up so well. Once we got over there, I realized MY FAMILY BROUGHT ME HERE GROWING UP UNTIL I WAS OLDER!!! I got emotional and my fiancé was just so excited to be apart of where I used to travel to in the summers. The steps to get down to Cobble Beach are kind of steep - but not too bad. Probably around 200 steps to get all the way down to the charcoal stones that line the beach. If you want sand, don't come to this part of the peninsula; this cobble stone coastline is meant for people who just want to be with the sounds of nature; by that I mean sit on some of the smoothed over rocks and just LISTEN!! The stones cascade together creating an amazing sound that just humbled us. We sat on the bottom of the stairs (there's a small ledge that's right at the base kind of hidden) and just watched the waves and listened to the cobble stone clatter. There were a few seals hunting at that time right were we were sitting and they kept checking out the few people that were down on the beach. We were here for around 2 hours, and I wish we didn't have to rush up to tillamook because I would've stayed here probably until sunset. Hands down beautiful, and we are going to be back within the next month or so

This was the kids first time fishing on a boat and the crew were amazing with the kiddos by patiently teaching them the techniques of fishing and were genuinely enthusiastic whenever they caught a fish. Half way into the trip the captain noticed that Salmon were running and changed gears to start trolling. Within a few minutes we caught our first Coho and when all was done ended up with 4 keepers while 4 more had to be released due to them being native species! This meant that we ended up staying out longer than anticipated but the captain didn't mind at all as long as the fishing was good and the passengers were having a good time. The crew at Infinity Charters clearly love fishing and pride themselves on providing a great experience for their customers. I recommend them wholeheartedly and will certainly book another trip if we find ourselves in the Newport area!

Every year since 2013, our extended family and close friends come to Waldport, Oregon for a fun…read morefamily crabbing vacation! We've always used McKinley's Marina in Alsea Bay for our crabbing boats and crab pots. The staff is professional, helpful and could not be nicer!!!! When we arrive at our scheduled time, they are ready to kit us out with lifejackets, crabbing boats & crab pots. The boats are fitted with a pulley to help haul in the pots full of Dungeness crab! You need to bring the bait with you (we use raw chicken quarters.) Each boat has room for up to 4 adults (and a couple of kiddos if necessary). We head out just before high tide. It's so much fun! When we get back to the dock, the staff check our crab to make sure we have legal size males (only) and they prep it and steam it right there at the docks. They even have picnic tables for us to feast on our fresh catch. We really enjoyed this trail!…read more This short loop is about 1 mile, with a couple of other connecting trails along the way. We chose to start the loop to the left, and it seemed average for the length of the initial straight-stretch. But as soon as the trail turned and headed up it became so much more entertaining. The path winds through and around gorgeous old trees and provides fabulous root-art on which to walk. It's a fun trail with great shade...twists and turns, ups and downs. The footing is definitely uneven much of the way, so you've got to watch where you're going, but that just adds to the enjoyment for me. There's a decent amount of pull-off parking right at the trailhead. I didn't really have high expectations as we just happened upon the trail. But I was very pleasantly surprised...happy accident!

There are plenty of activities for families, namely Ripley's Believe it or Not, The Wax Works, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Sea Lion Docks and Yaquina Head Lighthouse. There is plenty of RV Parks for camping and many hotels, motels, B&B's and VRBO rental options. The Historic Bayfront is a great place to walk with shops, museums, restaurants and gorgeous views of the bay and marina. They have plenty of public parking and restrooms available. We've always enjoyed our time here. Would highly recommend.

My review is based only on the Day Use fee system and not on the RV park or moorage. The Port, a…read morepublic agency, has a recently added Day Use fee system applicable to the entire port property at the south beach marina location. The fee is $7/day and is only sold in day long increments (always expiring at midnight) unless you buy a $75 yearly permit. Since this fee is applied to all of the Public port parking at the south beach facility this means it applies to parking by the fishing pier, the non-motorized boat launch area, or anywhere else that you might park to go out on a boat or simply park for a few minutes to walk around. The fee is payable via app on a smart phone as well as one pay kiosk. But while the area is festooned with signs for smartphone payment, from the company that collects the fees, there is no signage to direct you to that kiosk. It's way over on the north end by the boat ramp, and not apparent or visible from most of the parking areas. I feel this fee is exorbitant, unnecessary, and generally implemented in an unfriendly manner for the visiting citizen or tourist.

There's a large, steel whale tale coming out of the grass. And in the summer, every couple of minutes, a spout of water sprays way up into the air - just like a whale "blows" haha! It almost looks like someone's yard. But it's right along the 101 and you can't miss it if you're walking around the cute little town. Definitely worth passing by just for fun - especially for families with kids.

The traffic died down as night fell and the babbling river right next door covered any sound cars in the middle of the night might have made, at least from where we were camping. And there was no traffic at all in the early morning. The bathroom in the day use area, next to where we were camping, was spotless at all times. The camp host was friendly and laughed at all my jokes and had plenty of firewood. We loved it here, and would love to stay here again. Motorcyclists - i highly recommend spot #14! There is a lot of light - not the greatest place to star gaze. But still loved it. Not sure if everyone was quite during quiet hours because they cared or because the camp host is strict - either way, it was awesome.

Restrooms with flushing toilets available. No fee to use this 'day use only' recreation area. Plenty of parking with views throughout. Nice walking trail along the parking rim. Also stairs leading down to tide pools. A decent sized viewing platform to get overall view of ocean, beach and tide pools. Highly recommend!
