My fiancee made this appointment two months ago after her PCP sent a referral over. She has a pretty serious eye condition and needs to see a specialist so she doesn't go blind and her current eye doc is out of his range of expertise. They cancelled on her less then 24 hours before her appointment because they don't take her insurance, which means they didn't bother to confirm her insurance before they accepted the referral. Not to mention she called them a few weeks ago to confirm everything was in the clear before her appointment (she had some insurance difficulties) and they told her she was all good. read more

The surgery and care from the doctor has been great. The let down for me has been with the business side. My surgery was October 2025 with an iol in my left eye. My my vision right away was not good so I had to retake the round of drops. The second round improved my vision but I needed to have the bottom tear duct plugged. Best vision that I could have hoped for. The doctor wanted me in for a 6 month follow up which I went to. But, now the bills start rolling in with explanations that we are outside the "global" time of 90 days. When I asked on the pricing up front the response was that it included any follow up treatment and care. I guess that they are as good as their word. I couldn't tell if I was having a headache or a pain in my eye. I called my regular optometrist, Dr. LeClaire at Binyon Vision, but she was booked out for the day. I was advised to I call Northwest Eye Clinic. They were able to get me in on the same day! I was seen by Dr. Matteucci, an ophthalmologist. Dr. Matteucci and his assistant, Ashley, examined my eyes very thoroughly. The receptionist was courteous and professional. Their intake form was short and manageable. By the time I was done with the form, I was taken to the back by Ashley, and an examination started right away. There was little waiting time before Dr. Matteucci came in to further examine my eyes. Pros: + They were able to get me in on the same day (for an acute symptom). + Little wait + Both the medical and administrative staff were nice + They have both optometrists (2 O.D.s) and ophthalmologists (2 M.D.s) on staff. ************************************************************ If you found my review helpful, please smash the "useful" button! Prior to Dr Dudley leaving I would give her and her assistants, not the office staff a 5. Post her leaving a 1. Unfortunately the appointments are expensive and my insurance doesn't cover much. I was told by Dr Dudley to just pay what I could every month, but it was more important to come in for my appts. I knew it would and boy did that change post her leaving and new dr's coming in.. I was basically told the dr's and staff discussed my account and if I didn't pay off my balance by my next appt I could not see a doctor there. I said I won't be able to do that and was told ok we will cancel your next appt. Sadly I will not be able to go back to this office again and I'm not sure I ever want to go back. I hope Dr Dudley comes out of retirement and lands elsewhere. She was thorough and always tried to get to the bottom of what was happening with my eyes. She had compassion for people who struggle financially. I hope she can see this somehow because she is sorely missed read more

Excellent Doctors, horrible office staff, arrogant , insulting office manager. Regularly keep you waiting 1-2 hours, and acting like you are wrong to complain. The office staff is enough to never go there again. To be clear, the Dr did an excellent job on cataract surgery, however we won't be dealing with this clinic again because of the office staff. read more

I was previously a patient of a corneal specialist in Austin, Tx who diagnosed me with Salzmann's Nodular Degeneration. At that point, he discussed future surgery to correct, but did not think it was necessary at that time. After completing his residency, he did a fellowship in corneal disease and surgery at Harvard and trained with Claes Dohlman considered the "father of modern corneal science." After relocating a few years later in Bellingham, I was told Dr. Crews was the corneal specialist at NWEC and made an appt. Upon my examination, he told me I did not have Salzmann's, but I did have some scarring that would need to be removed. When I got home and checked Dr. Crews training, it did not appear that he had done any additional training in corneal treatment except he worked as staff at the Pepose Vision Institute in Chesterville, Missouri. I was uncomfortable with his diagnosis, so I made an appt for a 2nd opinion at Virginia Mason in Seattle with a corneal specialist who had also done a fellowship in corneal medicine at Harvard. She said I definitely have Salzmann and recommended the same treatment as my MD in Austin had. If you have corneal disease, you really need to see a physician that has special training in corneal treatment, not just someone that worked in an office. Just a warning....you only have your vision until you don't! read more

After multiple visits and treatments (eye wipes, antibiotics, steroids) related to sporadic pressure and irritation in one eye, I received no diagnosis and no relief. I saw two doctors and neither explained what they thought was going on or why they were recommending certain treatments. While I think they were on the right track, I couldn't be sure as they did not explain anything to me. Rather than continuing down the same path, I opted to get a second opinion from another practice. After talking with me and performing a few simple tests I was diagnosed with meibomian gland disfunction (never mentioned by the docs at NW Eye) and given a treatment plan. The new doctor even performed an in-office treatment to start the healing process and wrote everything down. Disappointing experience at NW Eye, especially since I had had a positive experience in the past - but I also did not have any eye issues then so my visits were very straight forward. read more

We have received excellent care from the Angeles Vision Clinic for years. Now, NW will not extended care to my wife, I did get appointments. But this is unacceptable, unprofessional, I canceled future appointments. So be careful. read more

Normally, I'd give them 5 stars - But their recent refusal to follow CDC standards and insist that those with religious or medical exemptions or who have been fully vaccinated still they force you to wear a mask. They don't care if you have a medical issue or not, nor do they care if you are of no imminent threat to anyone. I've been seeing the doctors at Northwest Eye for over two years, after moving to Bellingham in 2016. I first saw Dr. Kaiser who has since retired and now see Dr. Cramer. I've worn glasses forever so obviously I've been to several eye clinics over the years and can sincerely say that I've been 98% satisfied with the care I have received. Dr. Cramer performed my cataract surgery (both eyes) this year and it went very well. Now two members of my family see Dr. Cramer and also are pleased with her care. And a good word for Dr. Crissy, too. read more

I had the most positive experience with Dr Crews as he guided me through cataract surgery. He explained every step, and followed up after surgery in the best fashion possible. The surgery itself was actually a very pleasant experience with the total staff before, during and after surgery. Dr Crews counseled me into the best options for my situation and the results are life changing. To be able to see clearly again thanks to a 15 minute procedure is beyond belief. This whole clinic is pleasure to work with and they make you feel secure and cared for at all times. read more

First of all let me start off by saying I haven't even seen the doctor yet but already I'm not liking it here. The front desk is terribly rude. Her name is Sharon. I wasn't sure if they received my cancel on text so I showed up to my 10:00 appointment. ( I'm still early, like 15 mins early) so she responds to me You canceled your appointment and the doctor is out sick. I said ok sorry I wasn't sure if you received the cancellation so I showed up. But the doctor can't see me anyways right. Her reply was YEA SHES SICK! Common courtesy if you don't like your job and you can't be nice to people than you should not be the face of a company. You are the first person that patients see when they walk in. There is no need to be rude! read more

I have been coming here many years, decades perhaps. I trust Dr Matteucci, Dr Crissy, and their fine staff. I like and appreciate how polite and courteous they all are, every single one. It goes without saying that I I feel they have such a level of experience & expertise that I feel quite comfortable trusting my eyes to their tender care. My trust is absolute, so when Dr Matteucci is unavailable on a rare occasion, I'm happy to see any of the clinic docs, confident of their care. In the last year, I've had some scary episodes with my retinas, and have gotten in right away each time, and received the best treatment from everyone. I can't say how much I appreciate this bunch. I was a first time patient, seen at the end of August 2018. I scheduled for a full eye health exam and refraction exam. I decided to get the refraction exam there instead of my usual optometrist, just for convenience. Unfortunately, it wasn't that convenient. I checked in on-time, and still had to wait for 30 minutes before being taken to the back to begin the eye exam. The refraction exam was done first but was not performed by Dr. Dudley. Instead, it was done by an "eye technician." It took 10-15 minutes. Then, out of that room and into a different waiting room for my eyes to dilate. Had to wait about 20 more minutes (got a lot of reading done) before taken back into exam room and Dr. Dudley came in, performed the eye health exam (it took about 10 minutes), and stood up said everything was fine health-wise, looked at my prescription and strongly suggested I purchase the glasses in their own optical store because they make glasses so much better than Costco. [She touted their optical store pretty heavily and it was kind of obnoxious, especially given the fact that I stopped by their store on the way out and optical store clerk told me they don't accept my insurance, so he wasn't sure why Dr. Dudley suggested I go there!] Then, Dr. Dudley started to leave as I was asking a question about my prescription. She answered the question, but begrudgingly from the doorway as she turned to leave, obviously behind on schedule. All in all, I was not impressed by the long wait times in this clinic, where they are obviously over-booking patients. I will stick with my regular optometrist for the refraction exams in the future, and am unlikely to return here for opthalmology. PS, When Costco did fill the prescription, it was fine, as always. I got two pairs of glasses made at Costco cheaper than one pair would have been at NWEC read more
