Unfortunately, the experience overall at Southwest Eye Care is really hampered by the fact that Cathy - at the front - is very rude and condescending to customers. We went to pick up my son's glasses today and when he tried them on he expressed that it was blurry. While I was trying to ask him some questions about what he was seeing Cathy interrupted and accused me of coaching him towards believing they were blurry. She then proceeded to tell me son he'll just have to wear them awhile to get used to the new frames, so I asked her if the frames impact how he sees through the lens? To which she replied no. I then compared his current glasses to the "new" ones and showed her how very different the lenses were. She took them in back for awhile and came back out to say they were made wrong. No apology. No acknowledgement that it's not mine or my son's fault that the lens was blurry for him. The other lady in the front was kind and offered to put a rush on the replacement, to which Cathy replied that my son didn't need a rush because he "likes his old glasses just fine." Excuse me? If he likes them just fine then why are we going through this headache for a replacement? Why are you telling him he can't have his new glasses rushed after YOU made a mistake? This isn't our first run in with having to deal with her attitude or condescending comments to our family so I can only assume she does it to others. Now we're left to wrestle with whether we abandon Dr. Dockter to find a business that treats its customers better, or stick it out and hope we can actually get the glasses my son needs without too much hassle.

From there I was put in a room with an assistant who asked me if I had had "my" flu shot! What the heck does THAT mean to the eye doctor?... and it sure seems like an offense to their precious HIPPA. Dr. Dockter could use a little "bedside manner".... not real "user friendly" at all. At the end of my appointment I asked to have my pupil measurement and was referred to the gal behind the reception desk. I received a bill for $35 after my insurance which should have covered 100%. I thought perhaps it was for the pupil measurement, which I would have questioned. However, it was for a notation regarding "possible cataracts" which was not mentioned to me by the Dr., but was noted in my chart for "possible future documentation in case I would need surgery". WHAT? I asked that it be removed because if I needed surgery they would surely do another exam. What absolute rubbish!
