It's beautiful here, but it's also very popular over the summer months when folks want to use this place to launch off the ramp. Parking is hard to find. At this spot, you can rent through the Tualatin Riverkeepers. They provided life vests and the kayak of our choice. It was great paddling out on the water with my kid. We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here.

My husband was actually very ambitious and constructed a crawdad trap, but I think the hook works just as well. My youngest boy is obsessed with fishing so this provided hours of entertainment and a nice outing for father and son. This is a very natural park that was created in a flood plane. No playgrounds here. Just a park with wetlands and a prairie with natural grass for walking your dog, jogging, fishing or launching your canoe or kayak from the pier. Great birdwatching as well. The city was able to buy up a lot of riverfront property (due to said flood plane) so over the past five years the park has continued to expand. It was a very smart move since the Tualatin River flooded the banks at least four times in the ten years I lived in the neighborhood and water would extend all the way to (or across) Nyberg Lane. This park is also the site of a wonderful arts camp for kids, Willowbrook, in the summer months and Alder Creek operates a canoe and kayak rental from Memorial Day through Labor Day. However, there's a parking area a few blocks up the from the entrance. At the entrance of the park, there's a nice playground, which is closed right now due to COVID. There's also a portapotty, but no real bathroom. We came on a Saturday morning and enjoyed a quick hike around the island with our three year old and six week old daughters. My three year old loved jumping around the rocks and watching the boats go by on the river. There were a lot of families fishing and splashing in the river, but there was plenty of space to spread out from other people. It's a great spot for a picnic.

I was panicking thinking I'd have to go way out of my way and be even later to the lake than I was to begin with. But my boyfriend saved the day because he said just stop at Fisherman's. I said "what's Fisherman's." Lol. He told me where it was and immediately I knew WHERE it was but I had never, EVER seen it. Thankfully it was SO easy to find the tanks (albeit I bought butane vs propane...and had to go back to exchange it) and I was in and out. As I said I bought the WRONG tanks. But it was SO easy to go back and exchange them! I even saved a few dollars since the ones I needed were less! I'll definitely be going to Fisherman's for camping needs going forward!
