If you continue through on the road there's a boat ramp along what we call the bar. You can drive on it with a 4 wheel drive vehicle like I do. I take my dog here to play and swim. On the other side is the other park and the Clackamas River. A community garden is also located here and a remote control car park It's a huge fun park with plenty of space to enjoy

We did forget our cooler but other people were well prepared and we're quick to provide us with anything we asked for out of basic necessity like one single bottle of water. we were going out on a standard little inflatable boat, nothing fancy and we were out on the water for maybe an hour, but we did give up and go in because the jet skis are an issue. Everyone has a jet ski, there's so many jet skis! As we were packing up, the sheriff showed up and was starting to crack down on them, looking at lifejackets and parking permits, and some of them were starting to leave thank goodness, but we had already had our fill of their noise. Several of the jet skis were coming extremely close to our boat, which of course we don't have the reactivity that they do since we were motorless, and it felt incredibly uncomfortable overall. The view was gorgeous for three dollars. It was a fun experience and I definitely would come back and enjoy looking at other parts of the park. If you come prepared in the morning and set up a clear space for you and your loved ones this could be a fun all day experience, but don't be afraid to stand your ground against the jet skiers as They need to follow the rules and respect everyone's boundaries and safety. There was plenty of parking and there's a vault toilet on site by the bar so that was convenient too.

However, we had the opportunity to catch and keep sturgeon only if it was between 44-50 inches; which occurs twice in a year. From beginning to start, Matt was super helpful with providing gear for me as it was my first time fishing. His boat was top of the line compared to the rest on the river that day. It had a hot water sink and very comfy chairs to sit in. He also had beers, waters on dec and had anti-nausea meds on board which was great for me since I was feeling sick. After 5 minutes, my boyfriend caught his first sturgeon that was 47 inches. And I caught one four hours later that was 45 inches. He allowed us to reel it in (which was a struggle for me, but worth it) and he took great photos after. We were the only 2 people that day to catch and keep our sturgeon. We couldn't have had a better experience and we got so lucky that day thanks to Matt! He ended up filet-ing our sturgeons and took 15 pounds of it home. It was the highlight of our trip to Portland. And we plan to come back in the spring once salmon season starts. If you're thinking about booking a trip with him, DO IT. You won't regret it!

His knowledge of the area, the fish, and the best techniques was unmatched, and he was patient in explaining everything to beginners while also offering great tips to more experienced anglers. Not only did we catch plenty of fish, but we also learned so much along the way. Matt went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, safe, and excited throughout the trip. You can he loves what he does, and that passion makes the experience even more memorable. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and professional fishing guide who will make your trip both successful and enjoyable, I can't recommend Matt enough! We'll definitely be booking again.

Here's what I took away from my trip with David as an experienced salmon fisherman (both personally and with guides) and father. 1) Of all the guides I've fished with, maybe only 2 would be someone I would take my kids fishing with. Obviously, when taking your kids someone with solid character is required. David is one of those. He's safe, thoughtful, friendly, patient and tactful. If you've been with almost any guide before, you know why these would be important when considering whether to take your kids on a trip. This guy understands "the assignment" and would be an excellent choice when booking a trip for your family. You wont have to worry about foul language, getting frustrated with clients(kids), "suspect" conversations, lack of attentiveness (sitting on the phone all day)...this guy is not the same as the guides you've been with before. 2) I'm an an experienced fisherman and gained MASSIVE knowledge in just a single morning with this guy. I've been salmon fishing for 30 yrs, but took a 10 yr "break" fishing salmon in Oregon (moved to AK). I decided to get back into it, bought a new boat, all the necessary gear and THEN went on an informational trip with David with the intent of helping set up my fishing boat effectively. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the time and money. Just book a trip with this guy FIRST, then go buy all the stuff. The cost of the trip is nothing compared to the time and money you'll save in your boat set up. This guy is detailed and organized. Every detail on his boat has been thought out, saving me sooo much time and energy. Look, this guide is a fish catching machine but you're going to get so much more out of a trip with him than just fish in the boat (that's going to happen too though). Just book the trip.
