We live in Southern California and we searched for a used Steinway grand for weeks and months. Finally, we found a consignment at Northwest Pianos that is a great fit. During COVID, it's not possible to visit. Cheri took a good amount of pictures and even recorded a video of a pianist playing the piano. Later she accommodated a technician we hired to inspect the piano beyond their store hours. When it comes to price negotiations, the seller and we were quite far apart in the beginning. My family and I visited Northwest pianos for the first time for my daughter's new piano. I was bit nervous because I never shopped for a piano before. The manager, Cheri was so nice and kind. We ended up spending a few hours at the store. My daughter had a great time trying all the different kind of pianos. I have never seen so many pianos in a one store! They have affordable one and the most luxury Fazioli pianos and Steinway pianos. My daughter fell in love with Casio GP510 grand hybrid piano. Cheri was very gracious with her help answering questions and entertaining my 3 year old while I looked and played. I often find shopping with children to be a very hit or miss experience and Cheri really helped me out! The purchase was incredibly easy and every step was communicated very clearly. My daughter has been in piano lessons for almost 10 months and we decided to switch from digital piano to the upright. We had zero knowledge about piano when we walked in here. We had a wonderful experience at Northwest Pianos. My husband and I were looking for a starter piano for our young daughter and had done some initial searching online. I saw a few options at Northwest Pianos that looked promising, so my husband and I brought our daughter to look in person and try out the instruments. We had so much fun looking at all of the pianos-- including the beautiful grands. The sales manager Cheri was so fantastic. She allowed us time and space to try out the different instruments and for our daughter to become comfortable in the store. She was also available for questions. She was very knowledgeable about all of the instruments and played the ones we were considering so that we could really appreciate the sound of each one. She was also so kind and encouraging to our daughter. We settled on a very reasonably priced pre-owned console upright piano (which will fit in our small living room very nicely and has a lovely sound). I was looking for Yamaha U-3 for my daughter. I visited another store and I found a cheaper U-3 there. After that, I visited Northwest Pianos with my daughter and met Terry. He was such a gentleman, he spend quite time to explain about the pianos. I was impressed by his knowledge and love for the pianos. I could have chosen another cheaper piano, but I trusted Terry so much, I decided to buy U-3 he recommended most. On the day I bought it, it was already after 6pm. ( store closes at 6.) He didn't care about time and spend some time to finish all the paperworks. He also gave me a discount and a free tuning certificate ! My daughter and I have been playing this piano and we love it ! Every time I walk into my living room, I see our new piano and smile when I think about the great experience I had at Northwest Pianos. My kids and I had visited a number of local stores where several salespeople tried to pressure me into buying expensive acoustic pianos with the "digital pianos will ruin his technique" sales pitch even though I explicitly stated I needed a digital I could plug headphones into, as we have a small house and all 4 of us play. One sales rep saw my three year old playing and rudely implied I wasn't good enough to give him lessons myself, and should opt for one of their teachers. Cheri at Northwest Pianos was such a pleasant surprise. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome. While we were there, I felt as if we had been invited over for tea at her home. Cheri helped us find a piano that fit our needs perfectly. The showroom is spacious and beautiful; being able to play the many different types of pianos was a great help in narrowing down our decision. Cheri was also prompt and responsive in emails. When she saw I couldn't fit the box into our small sedan, Cheri, who is the showroom manager and has been here for 7 years, somehow found time to personally deliver our new Casio PX-870 to our home in her SUV. When I struggled with deciding on the right piano bench, Cheri sent me home with an older, solid wood Yamaha duet bench they had in the showroom to tide me over until I made a decision. This bench made me realize the duet size was important to me and saved me from ordering a smaller bench online and having to return it. I ended up refinishing it with my son, which was an adventure in itself =) I'm not sure if I'm going to end up taking advantage of the amazing trade-in policy, but the peace of mind it provides is fantastic. And yes, I could have gotten the same model from an online retailer for about 12%-15% cheaper (no tax, nice bundle items, etc), but I'm proud to support such a great local business and will continue to do so in the future. read more

I just wanted to thank Cheri for an amazing shopping experience. We have been searching for a baby grand for quite a while, and had not found anything locally. We had a very long drive to come up and look at some of her pianos, and she was very friendly and accommodating even though we got there right when the store should have been closing. The pianos were absolutely beautiful and had amazing sound quality. We're on a tight budget, and she showed us several pianos in our price range and still made us feel that we were important and worth her time. She had great follow-up with us, and we likely would have bought a piano from her had we not decided to go private party. You should definitely come here first if you are piano shopping. I was in last month looking for a piano and wandered around their store for a good 30 minutes before a sales person talked to me and I was the only person in the store. They had a generally decent selection of pianos but a couple had huge cracks in their soundboards, many were not regulated, a lot of the used ones looked good on the outside but were not in so great of condition on the inside. I just got the general vibe that they don't care. My advice, take a technician with you if you shop here. I have since bought a piano from Classic. read more

We bought a Piano from them and everybody was great , my complaint is that they hired Pro Piano Movers to deliver my piano and the movers destroyed the hardwood floor in my home. After reaching out to everybody and hiring an attorney the movers and NW Pianos have failed in compensating me for my floor damage and now my only course of action is to take it to court. So if you buy a piano from them , for gods sake do not allow them to use Pro Piano Movers. read more

I bought an electric piano from here recently. The salesperson Terry was very helpful, not pushy at all, and gave me a run down on the differences between the ones they had in store. He was honest and said that, for me, the cheaper of the electric pianos was good enough, since I only wanted to play classical pieces and didn't want any of the extra bells and whistles. He didn't try to up-sell me at all which is always nice in a salesperson. They also have a policy where you can come back later and trade in the piano you bought from them for a more expensive one, and receive a discount of however much it cost you originally. read more

I've been shopping for a piano and think that this is one of those items that buying it used is a good way to go. This place has a large used selection and they know how to refurbish, tune, etc. You have to be patient to get exactly what you want but I'm of the opinion that if you are shopping for a piano - go used. This seems to be the best place in the greater Seattle area for a used piano. Perhaps you do better on Craig's List on pirce but it's a little bit more of a crap shoot...I also like their policy of taking the piano back at full purchase price in an exchange. read more

I have had the best experience working with Northwest Pianos to help me find the right Steinway piano for me. I was looking for something very specific so it was going to take some time and patience. When I called NW Pianos, I spoke with Cheri. I specifically explained to Cheri what I was looking for and the price range. These guys are great. Cheri was our contact and took all the time to help us find an instrument. She especially took also addressed the concerns of my mother who was involved in the purchase. We chose a Chinese made instrument that sounded spectacular- however, when we got it home we found two blemishes on the cabinet.
