Mike is to fixing pianos as Beethoven was to composing on them...both absolute geniuses. I can't believe A. That I now have a (real) piano B. That said piano is almost 100 years old C. That Mike was able to make it sound like it just rolled out of the factory (is that what happened back in the day?) He does tuning, he does cleaning, he brings an assistant (which was awesome, especially trying to remove the top from a baby grand) and they're both extremely thorough and kind. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again (and need to, for that cleaning!) Thanks for making my "music" sound better than it really does! read more

Mike Gill came with his helper Mateo and did an excellent job tuning and fixing my piano. It had already been tuned once recently - and not very well. The first gentleman tried to lubricate the sticky keys but "gave up" and recommend I get someone else to work on it. Mike took the shop piano apart, retuned it, and fixed all the keys to perfection! I now have a lovely piano that will be a pleasure to play. I can't recommend Mike enough. He has been doing this type of work for over 50 years and knows how to take care of business. I just had my piano tuned by Mike. As always, very pleasant. Everything in my previous review is still true. He really has good ears! My old 1936 Acrosonic sounds so amazing now! Mike and his assistant were so sweet and managed to fit us in last minute since they had a cancellation late Saturday afternoon. I honestly don't know what Mike did but it is amazing to hear how rich the sound is now for our thirty year old mahogany Yamaha piano (my parents were sweet to gift me the piano that I learned to play on when I was young). Everything was professional and kind, and most importantly my piano is in tune and for a very reasonable price (as compared to other tuners I've tried in the area previously who tried to "tune" the piano in 15 minutes, it wasn't tuned or voiced well, and then they charged a LOT more. Never again!). And, they came all the way to Everett, so additional kudos for that. On a weird side note, both of my cats who are usually pretty neurotic with new people (they're both teenagers and both have different, special needs), LOVED him and were super fascinated by his presence. Considering they both usually run away from many things, especially strangers, I take this as a good sign. :) read more

I am a true believer in Mike Gill. My piano was factory tuned to A-437 and the prior tuning had made the lower notes even lower. I called Mike out of desperation, and asked for a concert tuning. Bless his heart, he came over and raised my entire piano tuning by 3 cents! You have no idea how happy this makes me. In case you were wondering, Blind Mike is actually blind. I don't mean to sound like Glenn Gould in "A Romance on Three Legs", but I have a great deal of respect for a guy that can tune a piano by touch alone. After reading reviews on Yelp our friends had a roughly 1940s Fisher upright which our kids had been taking lessons on for years and definitely needed a tune. Mike arrived early armed with a tuning fork and his wrench. In about 80 minutes, the piano sounded like a different instrument! Super cool to watch/listen during the process. We also had some chipped keys which Mike offered to repair for us if needed. We even had a nice conversation with his colleague (can't recall his name!) while we were waiting. Hired Mike to tune my 100 yr old cabinet grand. He did the job quickly and for a reasonable price. After he left a few things didn't sound quite in tune and he did some extra stretching on some strings to loosen up some corrosion or rust that had gathered causing them to sound dead. I called Mike back up and asked if he could come back and check it out. He did at no extra cost to me. He even went the extra effort to fix some squeaks and noises the pedals were making. Our piano had not been tuned in probably ten years and it was built in 1902. Mike had no problem working on it and said there might be a couple of things that might need fixing in the future (no big deal), but for now it was "good to go". He was here for 1 1/2 hours and held to his price. He is a man of gifting and integrity. Don't look any further. Mike is amazing and has been tuning my Grand piano for as long as I've lived in Seattle - 20+ years. He is the consummate professional, and does a wonderful job. Over the years he has tuned, cleaned, and voiced my piano, and when he's done it makes this pianist smile as it sounds so wonderful. I would not use anyone else to ever tune my instrument. I must assume that Mike has perfect pitch given that he's blind; yet makes my piano sing. I can't recommend him highly enough. Gambled on an old Steinway and hoped someone could get it going. Prior to the repair, keys/hammers were stuck or weren't working altogether. Mike pulled out the action and returned a couple weeks later. Action parts were repaired and the piano tuned. I actually enjoyed sitting there an watching him to go work. New bridal straps, felt, replacement of a broken string, tuning and whatever else he did cost me a little over $400 which was very reasonable to me.
