The doctors are amazing IF you can ever get ahold of the office. when you call, you're lucky to get an actual person on the phone. my doctor sent a referral twice that went into a black hole. the person who eventually answered the phone was a complete jerk and not helpful in any way. getting my test results took several portal messages and over two weeks. like I said, my doctor is amazing, but the rest of the place is a disaster. read more

Let me "cut" to the chase: less than 24 hours after my procedure, I required no ice packs or pain killers whatsoever. Walking, sitting, even lifting objects was no problem. Even at the incision site, there is little evidence to indicate a procedure was performed at all. Beforehand, I had had a single consultation with Dr. Sasha Druskin, MD, who was as clear and concise about preparation, expectations, and post-op care as one could possibly desire. In total, combining both consult and the procedure itself, I interacted with Dr. Druskin less than 20 minutes, which is pretty incredible, considering this is still a surgery, regardless of how minor it may be. My wife, who was present during the procedure (and observed it in its entirety, which is pretty "ballsy", if you ask me!) was blown away by his precision and skill, just as I was similarly wowed at how painless the entire experience was, even after the fact. There is a "vas deferens" between expectation and reality, I can tell you! I cannot comment on billing and such at this time, being so fresh off the chopping block, although I will update this review if any problems arise. Similarly, my limited interactions with the schedulers and nurses was without complaint. But from a purely operational standpoint, I "can't conceive" of a more flawless execution than the experience I had with Dr. Druskin and NW Urology. In short, if you are considering a vasectomy, you can trust that, at least with Dr. Druskin, your family jewels are in good hands. Now turn your head and cough. read more

My experience with NW Urology on NW Pettigrove is vastly different than the negative reviews on Yelp. After my primary doctor placed a referral, they reached out to me within 2 days to set up an appointment. All calls to the office were answered without any wait time. an appointment was easy to get for the following week. Met with Dr. Gunselman who was kind, compassionate, explained everything thoroughly in plain terms that made it easy to digest and comprehend. Had a 2nd appointment for a procedure, that frankly, freaked me out. So much in fact, that until I showed up for the procedure, I was convinced I would cancel. But I have so many health issues occurring simultaneously, that I need to either find the cause or rule things out, so for my own good, I arrived for the procedure. As he had told me, it was way easier than I had anticipated and not painful. Every step of the way he told me what he was about to do, what I should expect. He was right, it wasn't that bad. And thankfully, my bladder is healthy and we were able to rule out any associated issues. While I would give Dr. Gunselman 10 stars, the office itself is outdated. It's an old 2 story building with various doors and elevators that take you to different doctors and medical practices. Give yourself time as it's confusing! Copier printed signs are everywhere telling you who and who is not accessible via the various elevators. The waiting room is often crowded, hallways filled with boxes, a busy office with phone calls and patients. The waiting room just basic. But at the end of the day, I'm here for the doctors knowledge, skills and bedside manner and Dr. Gunselman has all of that in spades. read more

Great care from Dr. Druskin. He is expert at prostate issues and prostate cancer. The only complaint I have is it's very difficult to get a hold of staff to make new appointments or ask questions... The front desk is very busy. But I worked out a compromise where I call at the end of the day around 4:15. I've gotten through to front desk that way. read more

Details coming tomorrow, but to sum it up, "Dr" Sasha Druskin and his assistant William Simpson are both incompetent and horrible communicators. Avoid this place like the plague or more accurately, a possible tumor. If you have long-standing symptoms and get the 5-10 minute "McMedicine" answer that basically say "nothing is wrong," please run the other way. Druskin is also a condescending, arrogant asshole but that's beside the point. I got the "McMedicine" answer from them for over 2 years during a constant, recurring, antibiotic resistant UTI until I consulted with an actual competent Urologist outside of his "clinic" and she told me to insist on a CT scan. Guess what, the scan that Simpson finally ordered (Druskin was likely "too busy") revealed a potential urothelial tumor that "Mr Bed Side Manner" Druskin finally told me pre-op today could be an "aggressive" cancer. My attorney is going to have a New Year's feast on this guy's performance- and I really don't want anyone else to go through what I have. If I could give them 0 or negative stars I would, but hopefully you get the idea from the above narrative. Again, specifics detailing my years' long nightmare with Druskin and his minions at NW Urology will be posted tomorrow. Fraudulent Billing Warning! Check your bill, call your insurance company and report NW Urology (all locations) to your insurance company and the Oregon Medical Board if you notice anything suspicious. GET A SECOND OPINION. WE DID AND NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE OF BILLING BETWEEN THIS URO CLINIC AND OTHERS. NW Urology bills extra services they do not perform. Two family members, including myself have been going to 2 different NW Uro locations and both of us were billed for office visits of 60+ minutes and only saw the doctor 15 & 20 minutes (one is 40 years old, healthy, the other 45 no issues, just wanted a 2nd opinion). They also bill for complex office visit upcharge on every single visit. They billed for 2 ultrasounds, only one of my family members had one ultrasound, the other did not have any tests at all. They billed for tests not performed. They overcharged and refuse to give back the money. Our insurance who is contracted with them is helping us get our overpayment back. I have never experienced such aggressive billing fraud. PLEASE check your bills, call your insurance and question everything. Medical care is excellent, doctors are very good, but the clinic billing is a huge scam. Between myself and brother, they overpaid $1700 and $1500 for services they did not receive. We are going through the proper channels, but warning the public now so you can save yourself some $$. read more

During my visit both the person who checked me in and Dr Spettel seemed rushed and unprepared, and Dr Spettal's initial question to me strongly suggested she had confused me with another patient. I was referred to NW Urology to treat an enlarged prostate. "Dr." James Bresee recommended a "Rezum" treatment. After several weeks of discomfort, seven months later, my symptoms are actually worse than before treatment. In addition after my insurance company and I have been billed in excess of $6000, they continue to "nickel & dime" us with additional charges. According to their bookkeeper, I still owe $23.71. I am fed up with these people and refuse to pay this piddling amount after what has turned out to be a miserable experience. read more

Like others, I'm the POA for my dad thought the care from Doc Gunselman was decent. It's the complete lack of follow through or returning of calls that has soured me. I spent 1.5 hours on hold over two weeks trying to get a refill request for my dad. I got one return call from Evan saying "call me back". Which I did and then never heard from them again. I couldn't get through to scheduling, the med assistants or another location. I've now had to reach out to his PCP to have them contact NW Urology. After much back and forth, we still have no resolution. I'll be finding him a new urologist. read more

They canceled my procedure on a Monday at 4:55pm by message for a Wed. procedure. Cost me 3 days vacation and the cost of a care provider for one day, close to $1000. Spettle's reply was she didn't like how I talked to staff and cancelled me as a patient all together leaving me without care. In serious need of a procedure and she coldly cuts me loose. No loss in losing a poorly qualified heartless care provider but it means now I piss myself for 2 months looking for a new specialist. Spettle won the war I guess, at the same time she apparently doesn't mind going against her oath to do no harm, she's has caused me great harm, she shows no compassion over this, never has for that matter in several years of care. Don't touch Spettle or that office, they not only give you poor care, they'll actually leave you worse than when you came in, and she'll love it. I never thought I would experience a doctor or staff like that but it's real folks. Stay away. Guess that's why they have 2 stars. Im apparently not the only harmed soul. read more

I am my dads POA and medical POA My father is of age and disabled. My dad has memory issues. This was a new doctor for my father. My father supposedly did not show up for 2 apts, but my dad did not get a call from them to remind of his apt My father has been notified he can no longer book there to go there. I have personally ( Daughter POA) contacted the office manager to request they put all confirmation calls thru me, and I am handing my dads' medical apt from here and on. They will not communicate with me, or my dad.  The office flat refuses to provide care for my dad as he is a convict. He is a senior citizen who is disabled and unable to keep track of his apts.  the office manger is very rude, who dismissive aging population and does not provide care in the manner they should. My aging disabled father did not know he had any apts, and did not get a confirmation call.We feel this is more about my dad's race vs then him missing any apts. I mean why not be a professional manager who contacts the POA  to try to resolve any issues. This office manager after 3 calls has never even called me back. I expressed to the manager on voicemail my father is losing his memory and I am his POA and going to assist with medical care going forward. But they will not communicate with me at all.  This doctors office accepts medicare and medicaid and have senior population they serve however they do not understand aging, memory loss, and how to deal with compassion for seniors. read more

With Dr. Lavelle, I was treated highly professionally and gratefully compassionately, but he left this practice to move to Bend. My experiences since then have been callous and forgetful. After a sharp rise in my PSA, I was advised to have both an MRI and also a CAT scan. The results were reported to Dr. Myers within 5 days. Of course, I was on tenterhooks to know whether they showed a recurrence of the cancer. I heard nothing for a week. Thereafter, I phoned 5 times over a three week period to learn what the tests showed. No call back, utter silence. Finally, I learned, thankfully, that the results were negative. Why the delay, a delay of excruciating uncertainty for me? "A miscommunication", said William Simpson. I would term it an utter disregard for patient concern. read more

I did see the Physician's Assistant and he was great, I didn't feel like I needed to see the actual Dr. for this, but still assured me he checked in with him. We went to NW Urology because they are the only clinic (doctor) that does HIFU which is a prostate cancer surgery/procedure. I can't tell you how frustrating it has been. The lack of response from them on answering a phone or returning a call is horrific. My husband has increased problems post surgery and I'm still waiting for for a response after our phone call with the nurse 5 DAYS Ago. I was even texting with the office manager last night and he was perturbed that I would reach out in the evening even though I communicated that there are issues that have occurred (increased bleeding) since surgery that we are very concerned about and have been waiting for a call from the doctor to figure out what is going on. This surgery that he went through - they wouldn't take insurance so we had to pay $25,000 - now they have the money and his well Being is no longer a concern. If you have cancer and decide to go with HIFU, I would suggest you go to Seattle or California because this group does not care about you. We are so frustrated. read more

Horrible communication and service by front desk staff. When I scheduled my appointment they confirmed my doctor. They called a day before my appt and told me I'd be seeing a PA. I requested to see the doctor instead. They promised he would be there. Never happened, never even acknowledged the conversation. Received mediocre care. They continued to call me about 6-8 times asking me to come back for a "follow up". I explained that I wanted to see the doctor... they told me he's just too busy, but maybe if I came back a few more times to see the PA they'd let me see the doctor. Ha! First off, I'm SO glad I didn't read these reviews before coming to see Dr. Stanley Myers!!! (My hubby scheduled his own vasectomy and never uses Yelp so I started reading the yelp reviews whilst in the waiting room. Yikes!!) So we were sweating bullets by the time the receptionist called us back, wondering what we had gotten ourselves into with all the bad reviews. I'm an RN, and I think I have eagle eyes when it comes to judging Dr. offices. HOWEVER.... It's a weird thing to say about a vasectomy, but we had a wonderful experience! Lol... even my husband said it "wasn't that bad". 2 tips: GO TO THE VANCOUVER LOCATION!!! I'm pretty sure the previous reviews pertained to the Portland office. You'll have a better experience in Vanc. Also, if you don't care about customer service, but you want Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) to add to your vasectomy experience, you'll have to eat the niceties and just go to the Portland offices because they do NOT offer that at the Vancouver location. On to the Vancouver review; The receptionist was kind and helpful (I think the receptionist mentioned in all of the terribles reviews before mine must have been fired or is in the Portland office... because our experience was awesome.) We hardly waited. The PA came in and despite looking like a 10 year old (haha- sorry bud- but you look sooo young!!! we were a bit worried...) he was PERFECT. Did a great job performing the nerve block. The nurse came in (of which I couldn't see her badge anywhere so I had to ask who she was and for her title... so I wish that were fixed... but not a deal breaker cuz I have a brain and I ask who/what they are before they touch anyone!) She explained everything thoroughly and answered questions. Then the doc came in, was professional and clean-looking and he apologized for making us wait an extra 5 minutes (so nice of him!!!), and he was quick and pleasant throughout, without making anything feel rushed or hurried. It was flawless. EVERYONE was donning covid-gear appropriately, and even with my rigourous eagle-eyes (trust me... I watch very carefully how they put on gloves, what they touch whilst they have gloves on, where they set items and grab them again... a lot of health care workers use gloves as if they are just protecting themselves... but I don't want their pen, glasses, doorhandles, computer keypads, or anything else on the gloves that are going to touch the patient!!!) and I didn't catch anything inappropriate or unsanitary. My experience with the Barnes location has been great. I know they have been experiencing issues with staff and the phone lines but who hasn't since Covid. I was called by Catherine and she was able to walk me through the process of getting me scheduled and answered my many questions about a procedure I inquired about. She made me feel at ease since she was knowledgeable about the procedure and the insurance details and that helped with my anxiety for seeing a new specialist. Overall, I would recommend this practice. Sad to read bad reviews when I had such a great experience. They have my vote. read more

Called 2 days ago and spoke to someone who was inept but finally left contact info for a specific doctor to respond to me - nothing! Office staff may be the most incompetent group I've ever had to deal with. Worst experience ever. Appointment changed times 4 times the week of procedur, couldn't get my name right despite my constant corrections, arrived on time only to wait 45 minutes to see doctor, staff acted as if I inconvenienced them and when all said and done they didn't fill out my pain med prescription right so pharmacy couldn't fill it. doctor was easy to work with but outside that I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Scheduled a circumcision appointment for my baby here. When we arrived we were asked to pay upfront... which was strange for a doctors office but whatever. Went back to the room and doctor came in and told us for safety reasons they couldn't do the operation till he was 6 months old and Dr. Hersij told us we would be refunded for everything. Then we were charged $170 for the office visit!! Are you serious?? We spoke with the doctor for 5 minutes and he couldn't do what we drove here for and paid for. My partner and I both took off work to come to the appointment. So not only did we miss out on our days work we now had to throw our hard earned money down the drain. The receptionist was rude and didn't call back when they said they would, or actually at all. Would NOT recommend unless you want to be robbed. read more

I can only speak for the customer service. It was awful. I don't know who the woman was that I spoke to today, but I haven't had anyone talk down to me so much in years. I've had bladder health issues since I was a kid. This isn't new to me. But I'm new to Portland, and I also changed insurance companies. The primary care doctor I went to referred me to a urologist at NW Urological Clinic because they accepted my insurance. The first time I called, they said the doctor hadn't reviewed my files yet but that I could call back later in the week to see when I could get an appointment. I called back today and the woman couldn't find my records first (they had them Monday). Then she said the doctor said my insurance rejected it because I was "out of area" - not network... Just too far (I live 15 mins away). So I called my insurance who confirmed that the clinic should take it. Then I called them back. The same woman answered and when I tried to explain that maybe something was wrong because my insurance was saying it was fine, she interrupted me to say "the doctor has made his decision". When I tried to figure out what she meant, she just got more mean on the phone. I asked if she could double check with the doctor and she said "I could, but I don't want to." Umm. Ok. Needless to say, I am not even trying with them. My primary care doctor heard about the issues and reassigned me to a doctor in Hillsboro. I'd prefer to drive some than be treated terribly. Again - the doctors may be fine. This particular staff member was awful. read more

dr. spettel in my opinion is the worst doctor ever. Almost a month after surgery and I'm still having complications that I didn't have prior to surgery. Not counting the fact that I was given two doses of medication that I had listed on my allergy list but the wound was not even properly closed. When I reached out through the patient portal for a referral to a different office I got a simple one-word reply from her but when I have contacted the other hospital to have this problem fixed they show no referral on there and she left me hanging read more

I am writing this review as the service and attention that I have not received should be noted. It is impossible to get them to answer the phone and when one leaves a message with specific instructions they do not follow the time suggested for a return call. After reading Lindsey C review I felt compelled to add my experience. Its hard to be objective when the Doctor you put your care in saves you life. I had Prostate Cancer, Bruce Lowe conducted a Robotic Assisted Prostectomy for me about 7 years ago. Ever since the surgery 7 years later I am Cancer free.The care service and attention was excellent. Dr Lowe has a quiet but professional demeanor, not warm fuzzy but cool and confidant. His PA Mandy is again the best. Several years past the surgery I still was troubled with minor incontinence Dr Lowe's associtate Stan Meyers, MD handle a fantastic elective surgery that improved my situation immensely. I could not be more please by the treatment and service this clinic has provided me over the past 8 years!! read more

My child was under the care of the doctors at OHSU for 2 years with no meaningful improvement for symptoms of diurnal incontinence. Seeking a 2nd opinion, we met with the nurse practitioner (Caitlin) to review our child's case. From the outset, we were all set at ease by her friendly and pleasant demeanor. She was curious and engaged and went through a completely different treatment protocol with us, leading with an aggressive cleanout and continuing with a protocol to help maintain healthy bowel function and improve tone. The results have been nothing short of transformational for our child, who has moved to a phase where clean and dry is the new normal. We we referred here from our pediatrician. Staff was friendly on the phone when making initial appointment. Wait time is reasonable. We met with Dr. Hersilj and he had recommended surgery for our son. Dr was very friendly and with good sense of humor, he made us feel safe and comfortable with him and his recommendations. Surgery went really well, he is a doctor that my husband and I could trust to do the surgery. His MA Rachel followed up with us and was super nice and helpful. I would recommend Dr Hersilj. After surgery he came out to talk with us and let us know how the surgery went. He made us feel at ease. My son was in good hands. read more

She has an attitude and is very rude! I saw Dr. Spettel and at first, I thought she seemed to be thorough. We discussed my ongoing bladder infection as well as other issues. She said I needed to have a few procedures done. She gave me some samples and I left. I was driving home when I realized she had not said she was calling in my antibiotics. I called immediately. I was told they would be called in before they left. I emailed her as well. This was a Friday. Nothing was called in. Monday. Tuesday, nothing so Wednesday I called. Dr. Spettel was gone and another doctor would call it in. Wednesday night nothing was called in. Thursday nothing again so Friday I called again and asked what was going on. Again I was told it would be called in. Later that day I received a call and was now told the doctor wanted to see me before she prescribed the antibiotics. I was upset and said No! I was there a week ago and I wasn't going to pay another $35.00 copay for the same thing I just saw her for. They said they would speak to Dr. Spettel and get back with me. When they called I was told I would have to come in and take a urine test first. Seriously?? Who fakes UTI's?? So on Saturday my husband and I had to go to Providence Hospital to do a urine test. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday I still hadn't received a call so I had to once again call myself! I called to find out my test results since they were not going to call me themselves! I was told the results were back and it showed I DID have a bladder infection and someone would get back with me to let me know what the doctor was going to prescribe. I told her to remind the doctor I needed long-term antibiotics like I used to be on. I got a call back shockingly. She said the doctor had called in an RX for 7 days. I said that's not enough time. They said 24 hours after your last does come in and take another test. That's when I said enough was enough! Dr. Spettel is the worst at returning calls and emails. When I was in their office waiting room it was constantly packed. It was like "standing room only" . It made me realize that this practice sees too many patients a day and they simply do not have the time to treat their patients properly! They were moving their patients in and out like cattle! I was given a referral to this office by my primary provider. I called to schedule an appointment and the girl I spoke to was extremely rude. She would not schedule an appointment unless I told her exactly what I was being consulted about. I explained I was at work and it was a private matter I would take up with the doctor myself. She still pushed for a reason before she would schedule an appointment, which no medical office has ever denied me an appointment if they weren't given a specific reason. VERY unprofessional. I called my primary care provider and requested a new referral to an office that hopefully understands something about customer service and doesn't treat their patients this way.
