NOTE : This is a review for afternoon tea only! I booked a not so cheap afternoon tea voucher, but overall the experience was a very good one. We had the library nearly to ourselves. It's a very large and comfortable room with lots of large windows and comfy chairs. The staff was very friendly and we always had a refill without being asked and the cakes kept coming. They offered a selection of twinings loose tea for us a choice to make and lots of choice we got! The sandwiches were soft and we got 3 selections: tuna, ham and cucumber. The scones were a bit on the dry side, but at least came with proper cream and quality jam. The little cakes were to die for, even the pannacotta served in a small glass. Yum yum. There is plenty of parking with a single track road leading up to the house, but limited space to maneuver. Overall I can definitely recommend this place!

This hotel and spa was booked through the convenient website booking.com with the rate including breakfast. The hotel is set in 55 acres of land and is 20 minutes drive away from the city centre. You arrive at the hotel by driving up a long driveway, to reach the main reception and house. The check in was efficient and we were asked whether we wanted an early wake up call, newspapers etc. We asked about where the spa was located and due to proximity of our room, it was quicker to go out the main door and around the corner - a short 5 minute walk to the separate spa building. Our room was modern in decoration and had an interconnecting door to the room next door. Unfortunately the walls were a bit thin for our liking and we could hear our neighbours quite clearly through the bedroom walls! So we asked to move to a different room. The receptionist immediately moved us and a hotel staff member came to help us with our bags. Our new room close by to reception was a lot quieter and traditionally decorated. The spa facilities were great. A large pool and jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and a variety of shower settings that created different experiences - monsoon shower anyone? The changing facilities were facilitated well with showers (although the water was cool) toilets, drying machine for wet swimming kit, and lockers that required a four digit code so no pound coins required! There is also a spa cafe where people were enjoying afternoon tea as part of their spa package and there are two fitness studios and then the spa area for all those relaxing treatments. We dined in the hotel brasserie for one of our nights stay, and were not disappointed by the food. I chose the vegetarian option of butternut squash and mushroom risotto and my partner chose the burger and chips. The chips were some of the best chips I have tasted! The waiter staff were attentive and really looked after us well - I was impressed. The hotel also has another more up market restaurant - ushers restaurant but this was closed over the festive period. I had a sneaky look at the menu and prices for main meals were typically around the £15 mark upwards. There is a small bar area situated directly outside the brasserie with high back chairs and tables and a couple of sofas. A nice area for a pre dinner drink or afternoon hot chocolate - I did both! Bear in mind the location of the hotel when booking as it is 20 minute drive away into the city centre but the location was perfect for work purposes. Taxi costs can vary but typically cost about £22 one way. Breakfast is served in the brasserie from 7am onwards and the choice is impressive. Breakfast is £15 per person for non residents or if breakfast is not included within your room rate. You can choose to have a cooked breakfast - eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, black pudding, and haggis are on offer. Being a lover of hash browns I asked whether it was possible to get some, but unfortunately the kitchen didn't have any. You can ask the kitchen to cook you other breakfast options such as bacon rolls, boiled eggs and soldiers and pancakes. There is another station with fruit, yoghurt, cereals and fruit. I was impressed by the variety on offer and the choice of beverages - fruit juices, coffee and a variety of teas. A superb hotel that I would love to return to - we were sad to leave!

    Beautiful hotel with lovely staff.

This is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff, gorgeous grounds, nice comfy rooms, amazing amenities including a indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, gym and exercise classes (yoga, Pilates, etc), plus a delicious full breakfast. It's very close to the airport, walking distance to fun activities such as go-karting and the indoor climbing center. And only 7-9 miles from the botanical gardens, Princesses street and the castle. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Beer, TV, bubble bath and sky sports. The executive bathroom was top notch! =))

You're right next to the canal and the sight of swans is magical. The staff there is attentive and truly friendly wanting your experience to be great. Their restaurant is very popular and after having dined there I can see why. The bangers and mash is delicious. They gravy is flavorful and the mashed potatoes are silky. The steak pie was probably the best we had tasted in all of our Scotland visit. We were ashamed to not be able to finish it all due to being full. Their sticky toffee pudding was also fabulous. We got their small plate and could have licked the cup clean it that good. If you can, this is a great place to visit and try

The Bridge Inn overlooks the Union Canal, and we could watch the canal boats tie up outside our window for the night with boaters on their way to the pub. The pub on site is excellent-and we decided to have a nice dinner at the Inn, and it was wonderful! We ordered the steak dinner, and the chicken with leeks dinner-both perfectly prepared! Don't worry about being too full for dessert-they have a "mini dessert" menu with smaller portion sizes to try, we had the sticky toffee pudding-so good! Breakfast is provided in the dining room offering every option to tempt you from healthy oats and yogurt, to French toast with local made fruit compote (my favorite!). As our stay was right before the holidays, they had their Holiday Event Menu out for 2023 with special events for New Years and Breakfast with Santa for the little ones. It was an excellent stay with very friendly service!

My friend and I spotted this spa as the only Guerlain spa in the U.K. So it was our mission to…read morevisit!! So when she said, let's go to Scotland ... I suggested the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh so we could visit the spa!! I phoned up few weeks before to book a massage & facial session then about 4 hours later, I received an email from the hotel concierge saying he could book things for us - including the spa with 10% off!!! Arghhhhhhh a discount!!! But the spa terms & conditions state I would lose money if I cancelled (so I could ask the concierge to rebook it with discount!) so we left it. The spa is lovely, reception is like a shrine to the guerlain products, there is a waiting room though quite small and they only had one toilet which seemed to be used by someone changing in there! We had got changed in our bedrock and put on the dressing gown n slippers that were in my room. First we had a foot spa, it was great, relaxing and lovely! Then we got taken to the treatment room where we had massage & facial. It was great!!! One of the best!! It is expensive but if you sign up to their mailing list, the hotel send out offers. I didn't book one of those but off the spa menu. We signed for it to the hotel then I told her the story bout the concierge offering me a discount after I'd already booked! The receptionist said 'why didn't you say!!' And reversed the charge and applied the discount! Awww so sweet!!! If you are in Edinburgh and wanting a beauty treatment or spa time - you are allowed to use the gym n pool too, I recommend spoiling yourself!!
