Dan installed a new garage door with remotes and key pad entry. He was very courteous, explained what he was doing and did a great job. And when he found that one side of the trim was rotted underneath, he provided a couple of options and said he would come back later to install the weather proofing allowing us to arrange for a replacement of the board first rather than having to remove the weatherproofing and add it back. We went out to find a garage door would not open. Since our car was in it, we had to get it fixed as an emergency we called Norwood Door Systems and they sent an emergency technician who did a wonderful job. He replaced two springs and hinge he checked in and tightened the door frame. He checked the motor And he was just excellent. This once great company has been bought out by a large company and is now charging exorbitant prices for their service. I had been pleased with my original garage door installations several years ago and the follow-up service that I received. I recently needed a new keypad for my doors. The installer came out and installed a battery keypad, not hardwired, which took less than 30 minutes including putting in a new battery and programming the keypad. The charge for the labor was $126.91 which did not include the cost of the keypad. Since receiving my bill and researching the average labor service charge I found that $80.00. is the average price for this exact type of service. I do not recommend a company that takes advantage of customers by charging almost 60% over the typical range for service. read more

We contacted Norwood Garage Doors to replace our original garage doors and garage door openers. Peter Barrows came to our home and brought a catalog with him along with sample colors. He seems like a great guy and was very helpful in making suggestions. Later that day, we made our selection and scheduled the installation for two weeks. The technicians arrived on time and were knowledgeable and friendly. The original garage doors and openers were removed quickly and without fanfare. The new garage doors (Garaga - North Hadley LP) were installed along with the garage door openers (Liftmaster Elite series). The entire project took less than a day. This time I upgraded an old garage door to a beautiful new one. I compared prices and though not cheap, the price was comparable to other dealers for a high quality product. The selection of doors was easy to navigate and they answered all my questions and gave me a range of options at different price points. I chose a lovely carriage-style door and the installation technician arrived right on schedule, and installed the door without difficulty, including replacing rotted wood posts. He took away the junky old door and cleaned up spotlessly. The new door works smoothly and makes the whole house look better. I've been a customer o Norwood Overhead Door for many years and was shocked to see a negative review here - based only on phone call. I had a recent experience where I did a web search for Norwood Overhead and ended up calling a company that was NOT Norwood Ovehead Door, and the outfit that came out to service my garage door was foreign and immediately told me it would cost $1000 to service 2 doors. My wife noticed that the van didn't say Norwood Overhead Door. I pulled out years of service call invoices from Norwood Overhead to show I'd never been charged anything like this for garage door service, and this helped me negotiate the cost down, and I sent the guy packing after servicing one of the 2 doors. Peter from the REAL Norwood Overhead called me back immediately after I called about the second door to say that the problem was probably minor - typical for them in my experience to not look for a score with an unnecessary repair - and offered to come out at my convenience. Looking at my prior bills reminded me of how reasonable this company is. There are very few home repair service companies as capable, honest and well-priced as Norwood Overhead Door and they deserve the best of reviews. Had one garage door opener installed less than 6 months ago - a LiftMaster model. It has not worked properly since it was installed. I had to leave multiple phone messages (don't EVER expect anyone to answer - you get a machine only) before I received a phone call back. The technician that came out was very nice but now, 3 months later, the opener isn't working again. And surprise, I've left multiple messages at multiple numbers and have yet to receive a call back. REALLY, REALLY FRUSTRATING! Especially after paying around $400 to have it installed. Look elsewhere. It's been an awful experience. read more
