I loved every bite of my perfectly cooked burger with bacon fig jam which melted in my mouth and not in my hands. It has been a while since I have been wowed by a dining experience. But I have to tell you eating here was so fun. The food was delicious, my drink was not watered down, the waitress was knowledgeable and funny. The vibe of the place was really good. I don't feel like that a lot. It's a hard time for restaurants. First time at Note, small and quaint place. We went during happy hour which was a good thing since it's a little bit pricey. Drinks were good, generous pours. Food was excellent, we had the cauliflower and pork and hen app. Grilled chicken and bacon flatbread and a BYOB Burger for entrees. My only issues are the location of the bathroom, which is kind of in the middle of the kitchen/prep areas, and you get knocked into by staff who seem annoyed you're back there. Ordered the Apple Pepper Tuna and I was blown away by the flavor. The ahi tuna was cooked perfectly with a nice sear on the outside. The gochujang chili sauce on the side had great flavor. My favorite part besides the tuna of course was the apple pepper slaw. It was paired well with the protein. And also the picked red onions with the sweet potatoes on the side was great. Wow, great food!! I would definitely come back again. For reasons out of my control, we dined much earlier than when I like to (who eats at 5:30?) but it was fine. We missed the live music because it starts at 7:30 each night, but we will come back for that another time. First thing's first, I needed my glass of wine. But I was not familiar with the choices, so I asked to taste two kinds. Both were delicious! I chose to have a glass of the Capestrano Montepulciano; dry & delicious. For appetizers to share, we ordered the Belgian Mussels, Cauliflower Wings and a cheese plate. Wow! The mussels were one of the best I ever had! They were big, plump, and were cooked in the most delicious broth! It was far from ordinary and I would definitely get it again next time. But wait! What else could they impress you with? The extraordinary cheese plate! Not only were the cheeses, nuts & jam delicious, but the little dish of pickled vegetables was to die for! Yum! They should make that as a side dish. Do not balk at Cauliflower Wings!! Wow, they were amazing! Tasted just like chicken wings but healthier. For an entree, my daughter had the baked Mac n Cheese. Although it was too rich for her, she thought it tasted great. My sister had the Note House Salad and liked it, but she later wished she had ordered something else. My other daughter had the Note House Burger. It was huge! She loved it. My nephew had the Figgy Piggy Flatbread and ate every delicious bite! Cool spot in a nice neighborhood. The food was soo flavorful. It consisted of a fusion of different cultures, spices and flavors. The NOTE-cho were the best Nachos I ever had. Found this place on Yelp while passing through Bethel for work, and oh. My. God. On a scale of 1 to 5, this place is a 12! When I say this food is stupid good, it's only because I have no other words. The flavors here- the combinations and seasonality- are pure genius. The sautéed Brussels sprouts with bacon lardons and a bourbon maple sauce, and the crispy, creamy pork belly sandwich with melted Stracciatella and fresh made arugula pesto make my taste buds incredibly sad that this place is no where near where I live. I've known about Note for a long time. Lots of friends highly recommended it for the good food and awesome brunch. When I arrived with a friend the establishment was empty but they still asked for rreservations. We didn't have any but we were able to get a table. For future purposes I would call to reserve a table because as we would find out late it gets busy quickly. The restaurant itself is very small but quaint. My friend and I decided to go for dinner and we ordered three appetizers: cauliflower wings (Chipotle BBQ), crab cakes and lobster tacos. The meal was good! We loved the cauliflower wings! The crab cakes were a bit disappointing, the taste wasn't really there. The lobster tacos were also good but nothing over the moon. We ordered drinks: blueberry mojito and Mexican jalepano. Cute place, appreciated the live music, but the service was shit. Came here with the fiance last weekend and it took 1 hour to get our meals. What got me the most though was how inattentive our server was. Barely checked up on us, didn't offer any apologies for waiting exactly 1 hour for food (I measured this time because I had sent an email on my phone as soon as we sat down), and even as we were on our way out after paying, we walked right by her and she didn't even acknowledge us. She also couldn't give us any helpful answers when we asked her some questions about some of the menu items. Food was okay, but I was annoyed that the acorn squash dish I ordered was completely under-cooked (it was still fibrous and not tender). Also though the potato pancakes were way too charred. All in all, another disappointing dining experience in this area, and another 4-star lie. I really wanted to give this place 2 stars, but I don't want to be a dick, and I can appreciate how shitty reviews can really hurt small businesses. But seriously, train your staff to be more attentive. read more

SOUR NOTE. One star is awarded only so my review will be posted. Went there yesterday, December 22nd, for lunch at 1 PM. One table of two diners in the smaller room, no one (except my date) in the larger room. He got there first and was served a drink. We sat there for five minutes after I arrived. The music was too loud, the table was sticky, and there was staff passing back and forth, yet, no one came to the table. Also, the waitstaff was not wearing masks. The noise was really distracting, the table was gross, and so I got up, and went over to where three staff were standing, chatting. I stood there for a minute or two and then one of them finally noticed me. I am tall, so it's not like I was hidden. I asked them to turn down the music, told them the table was sticky, and asked that our server wear a mask. What happened? NOTHING. No apology. No one came to the table though they were back and forth through the room doing who-knows-what and certainly the other table of two in the other room didn't require all of them. We got up and left. Appalling. We then went to what is apparently their "sister" restaurant Notch 8 and the service was great, our server was attentive and charming, the table was clean, food was good, noise level was much better and someone was even singing in the kitchen. And TONY, in response to your response about the cleanliness of the table, BOTH my date and I noticed that the table was sticky. It was a definite (not a perhaps). Here's a thought - perhaps you should stop filming your diners without their permission (creepy) and I'm not sure why you were commenting on my attire, and not on that of my date. The only proper response from you - the owner - was to say that you were sorry that our experience at Note fell short and that you'd see that your staff was informed of the problem - so that it didn't happen again. I so wanted to love this place...and then I went! Looks so cute. Great outdoor seating...but awful. First, I called at 11:30 am to make a reservation for Friday night. The gal asked if we wanted to listen to the music. I said "no" and we preferred outside seating. She said it was first come first serve for outside, but she would make a note. Got there for the 7:45 reservation...didn't know who we were. No reservation. Table opened up outside. They sat us. Wait staff was confused. Two waitresses came over and asked us the same questions. Ordered an app....it came at 8:45, an hour in and was Luke warm at best! We told the waitress to just cash us out and cancel our dinner orders. 20 minutes later, we were still sitting there. One would have thought that she would have got the manager or owner. Or at least brought us the bill. Just threw the cash I had on me on the table and went down the street to eat. I came to Note looking to play the open mic, but I was too late to sign up. I figured, I made the trip I may as well have a beer and a snack and listen to the music. I had the whiskey river burger, and it was great. The two ingredients that make it special are the whiskey pecan bacon jam and pickled onions. The fries were highly seasoned, which I like. Those who don't like black pepper may have an issue with them. They also have a lot of rotating craft beers on tap. I availed myself of the whale's tale pale ale. On a side note, the sound for the open mic is done right, clear and not too loud. It's a tad pricey for pub food, but on the other hand, it was really good. My husband and I went this weekend for dinner at Note for the first time and it did not disappoint!! The staff was phenomenal, very accommodating and attentive. The live music was some of the best we've ever heard. And the food - unreal!! We had the cauliflower wings, the street corn shrimp tacos, and the surf & turf special. Our waitress recommended the cheesecake that was on special. The chef makes the cheesecake in house. And boy was that AMAZING! Overall, one of the best dining experiences we've had in years. We live down the road and let me say how amazing it is to FINALLY have a consistent, reliably delicious, and overall awesome option for food and drink in this town (very few places live up to any hype around here). We have had dinner here 3 times and brunch once, and we LOVE Note Kitchen & Bar. Let me count the way: 1) Service is always friendly, accommodating, just there when you need it. A+++ 2) Food is delicious, innovative without being snobby, and a great value. Have tried numerous things and nothing has ever lacked in taste. Perfect amount of food, too, for the $. 3) Cocktails are quirky (music-themed) and a strong pour. I can't say enough. If you want to catch up with friends, ask to be sat in the side room where it's quieter and away from any live music, which happens often and is a great addition to the ambiance. LOVE this place. The owner always comes out and asks how things were. The chef is top notch. Note hits all the best notes, that's for sure. read more
