I was looking for a decent practice drum set to start playing again. (multi-instrumentalist w/ a studio) I came in on a Thursday and Fred showed me a decent Yamaha Custom set and some low volume cymbals. With a hardware pack it came out to $1,500+/-... Perfect, that is all I wanted to spend on a practice set. I asked if he could hold it for a few days for a couple hundred dollars while I double checked with my wife. I came back a few days later and had to let Fred know an old friend gave me his old Tama Imperialstar shells/snare for almost nothing. I told him I would just be picking up cymbals today, but I will still need to pick out... Fred then proceeded to throw his duster across the room and began having a childish tantrum. Rambling on about its people like me that are putting local businesses out of business. He continued to berate me and clearly showed how angry he was I wasn't picking up that exact drum set. I continued to apologies to deescalate the situation, but Fred continued harassing me. I have never felt so uncomfortable or treated in such a manner by an adult. I tried to tell him I still needed DW Hardware to match my old DW double pedal. I also wanted to pick out additional higher end cymbals... (non-practice set) He continued to be an a-hole. All I could do is purchase the practice cymbals and was forced out the door. If he had any maturity or respect for his customers, I was prepared to walk out the door with about $2k in cymbals that day. I also just got large tax refund and huge bonus. Now I'm forced to buy a new DW Collectors Series drum set somewhere else. (Maybe direct) I always recommend buying local, but it pains me to say, I do NOT recommend Fred Piere Studio Drums.

They are not overbearing or annoying and they don't harass you like the kids at "guitar-mart". They carry a good selection of acoustic and electric guitars and basses, effects, accessories, etc. They also do live sound, drums and other things as well that aren't of interest to me as a guitar player. They have everything from beginner to professional grade instruments and gear. If they don't have what you are looking for, chances are they can get it and they beat any competitors price. I have purchased about 10 high end guitars and several high end tube amps/ cabinets over the years and countless effects, cables, strings etc. I now live about an hour away but rather than go to the chain store up the road I still make the trip to Edwardsville for my music gear needs because they are simply the best.

I took piano lessons with Tim Townsend from ages 8-12. As I've grown older, I have realized how…read moreinappropriate he was as a teacher. He would constantly push his extremely conservative ideologies on me (yes, even as a 10 year old!). At the time I didn't realize what was happening, but sometimes 10 minutes of our 30 minute lessons would consist of him trash-talking the democratic president, and telling me my parent's opinions were incorrect (who are both rather liberal). I don't care what others' political beliefs are, but I cannot believe he was pushing his political agenda on me as a submissive and quiet child. It disgusts me to think now that my parents paid for those lessons for years. Not to mention he did not put any effort into improving my piano skills the last 2+ years of my lessons. By age 10 I was over the piano and had checked out, and he made no effort to inspire me to improve, it seemed he was just comfortable taking my parents' money for a few more years until I finally quit. He took that time as an opportunity to spew his far-right beliefs into my ears. Not to mention he is literally a climate change denier and hardcore Trump supporter, but that is beside the point. It is extremely inappropriate to push those beliefs on a child. I would highly recommend NO ONE sends their child to learn from him. Maybe his other teachers are alright, but I would never support his business.

I ordered a new guitar, but when I received it, it had a bent, selector switch, and a scratch on the back and the tone knob was floating around in the case. I immediately reached out to Griffin and he told me that I would get a full refund. I had read stories about people not getting refunds and so I was a bit nervous. But he followed me every step of the way and his communication was second to none. He would even respond to my emails when he was not at work. Long story short, I returned the guitar and got a full refund with no questions asked. And on top of that, he sent me two Eddie's T-shirts, two sets of strings, and a tuner. You don't come across guys like Griffin very often. He was top-notch and the next time I'm looking for that special guitar. I will certainly reach out to him and give them the business. Thank you Griffin for everything you did for me and how you constantly stayed in contact and made sure that everything went through to the final end you are top-notch!!
