This was our first stop once we arrived in Banff since we were looking to nourish our bodies with a fresh & healthy lunch after our morning travels. Well the name says it all...we definitely felt nourished and totally satisfied after enjoying their Hummus Trio and Beautiful Burrito! This is definitely a fun & funky restaurant/bar we would visit again when in Banff. Truth be told, we did go back a second time during our 5-day trip, because that Beautiful Burrito was calling our name! The staff here was also very friendly. One of them even got us connected to WiFi even though the restaurant does't actually have its own free WiFi. Very much appreciated for us visitors who needed to connect to figure out where we were going/what we were doing next. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and fresh-tasting. Our server was kind and attentive and added to our experience. I kept looking at other tables to see what they ordered because there were other items on the menu I wanted to try. Everything I spotted on our fellow diner's tables looked tasty as well. This place was opened last 9pm so went to check it out. Ordered a falafel salad and the kimchi burgers with harissa fries. The falafel salad was delicious and very hearty - only thing I would change is that the broken up falafel balls be warmed up so that there's a nice contrast with the rest of the salas. The kimchi patty was also very flavorful and crispy which contrasted against the bun with sauces. Would recommend getting this for sure! As far as desserts go they ran out of the blueberry cheesecake and everything else except ice cream near closing time - just heads up. read more

This was suggested to us by a friend as one of the few vegan restaurants in Banff. However, it was a bit disappointing to visit. We went for four things: 1) Bread, Oil & Salt; 2) Moroccan Cauliflower; 3) Vegetable Kababs, and 4) Poutine. The combination of the Bread, Oil & Salt didn't really work well. While the bread was fine, the oil was highly overpowering with a very strong taste and salt just seemed out of place. With Moroccan Cauliflower, the cauliflower was raw and the spices didn't really help. Vegetable Kababs were actually fine to some extent except that the knife wasn't able to cut through the bottom of the kabab that well. Poutine was okay too. The staff and the service were good. The ambiance of the place is really good. Unfortunately, the food just isn't worth it. I will skip this next time. read more

Such a cool spot in downtown Banff! We are vegetarian so were really excited to find Nourish Bistro on our recent trip. If I could give this a 10 star I would!! We came here based on a recommendation from a local and I am so glad we stopped here for dinner. It's located right in downtown Banff. We ordered the half order of Nachos ( the full order feeds up to 5 people!), also their house made cashew cheese is a must with this. We also got the Gyoza dumplings, and the noodle dish with coconut broth. For drinks we had the impeachy Trump and the Ceareal-y thingy (sooo good). This cozy cafe will intrigue every vegan and vegetarian (or those veg-curious) visiting or living in Banff. The decor is quirky/modern, with a giant fake tree that's something out of the Magic Garden (google it!), subtle neon lighting and natural exposed wood. There's not a ton of vegan options in Banff (though restaurants will kindly try to accommodate you, even if the ending result isn't all that exciting), so I came here two times. At first, though, I balked when I saw all the reviews complaining about cash or debit cards only and a crazy mark up for US dollar. Spoiler alert: they now accept all major credit cards! Now that that's out of the way... Nourish is AOK. My first visit left something to be desired, and I hate not loving places that are committed to healthy, sustainable & cruelty-free lifestyles, so I came back a second time. I appreciate that it gets crowded here during the summer, but their seating policy in cold weather, when the place is half full at 6pm, is to sit any single person at one of the least desirable seats (by the windows where it's cold and at a bar). I asked for a small table and was reluctantly seated. I made sure I didn't linger after my meal. Believe me, I order drinks, apps, entree and sometimes dessert so I don't love feeling like I'm a nuisance. It was Taco Tuesday, so I went with it. I also got the cauliflower app. I was not a fan of either, unfortunately. My food was served lukewarm and the flavors were underwhelming. The cauliflower is simply roasted, no discernible spices (I did love the dip that came with, however!) The two different tacos were overwhelmed by black beans and tasted almost identical despite me ordering one of each variety. They are topped with a cashew cream that has too delicate a flavor to effectively compliment the tacos. As a "special," $6 seems a bit much. Come to think of it, I can count on two fingers that tacos have rocked my world to the point where I'd see fit to pay more than 3 bucks for them. And these were not special. I especially didn't appreciate the sweet flavor in one of them. But let's not dwell on the negative because my second visit was really really good! This time, I visited on a Saturday and was greeted by the male bartender who was so incredibly nice and welcoming! I immediately put in an order for the cocktail I had liked so much on the first visit (but it arrived at my table rather tepid), The Mexican Medicine Cabinet (a Mezcal Hot Toddy). This time it was served hot rather than lukewarm. I also ordered two specials: a potato leek soup and lentil hot pot. The soup that night was incredibly simple and delicious. Rather than a creamy base that's typical of potato leek, this one has a savory broth and chunks of potato and leek. The (piping!) hot pot reminded me a lot of a hearty lentil lasagna. This type of healthy vegan comfort food really hit the spot on a cold December night. I left with mixed impressions of Nourish. Second time was the charm! read more

We hit up this place twice during our stay in Banff and dang, it was delicious! And to think I was convinced I was going to have to solely subsist on energy bars! Apparently, Nourish Bistro converts into an pseudo night club with a DJ on Fridays, which we found odd but I understand the "clubbing" night life in Banff is considerably more lax than it would be in metropolitan areas (it's totally okay to show up in your snow boots and sportswear). It does otherwise feel like a vegetarian/vegan restaurant within the establishment but with a subdue neighborhood bar vibe, as much as that probably doesn't make sense. I don't recall the precise names of the items we sampled (I did peruse the online menu and I can probably guess with some accuracy, but I only have so much proper Yelp motivation, so let's not waste it!), but they consisted of a coconutty noodle soup, a burrito, the house burger, and a quinoa bowl. I think we were really enamored with the noodle soup concoction - the savory warmness of it was exactly what we needed to reanimate after walking around in the cold. The pre-sliced burrito wasn't half bad either, even quite edible cold! The house burger was also decently good, but our server had sort of hyped it up and I couldn't help but think that it was on the dryer, super crumbly side. I did quite enjoy our selections as a whole. I won't deny that was perhaps influenced by preconceived notion that there would be no vegan options in Banff. I also dared to drink the Death By Vegan out of pure curiosity - an alcoholic chocolate beverage. And man, that thing was INTENSE. As you can imagine, it was very decadent and boozy and I'm sure a billion calories. Service was fairly attention although perhaps a tad on the slower side. Coming from India, I was initially skeptical about ordering Aloo Paratha on their brunch menu, but my mind was pleasantly blown away after eating it. While we mostly enjoyed the food, I was disappointed in the experience. We arrived. No wait inside, but outdoor seating was full. The woman outside said it'd be a 10 min wait. We said sure and asked for a menu in the meantime. We saw a table pay and leave. We saw it get cleared. The woman who said it'd be a 10 min wait just came in and out, in and out, even chatting with a table that was leaving as we sat waiting. The woman asked for a table for 2 outside. The young waitress offers her the table we were patiently waiting for, despite being hungry, tired, with a hangry toddler and itchy bc of these damn Banff mosquitoes.. I let her know we'd been waiting. It came out snippier than it needed to, and I instantly felt bad. She said she didn't know, went back inside and then came out to seat us. She seemed to not want to serve us at this point, being very quiet and not running over any specials. She brings out utensils and napkins for the table seated after us. We asked for a napkin. She eventually came with them. My water had stuff floating in it. I thought maybe it's lemon pulp. My husband tasted his and said it wasn't flavored, which meant it was not lemon pulp... He asked for a new water. While some folks were nice, the meal kicked off with a souring experience (with the table situation), which in of itself wasn't horrible, but the lack of apology or recognition for it by the person who made it... I recognize I could have reacted better, but I didn't, so I tried to be as nice and polite as possible to the young woman thereafter.i should have apologized, but instead I told my husband to just tip her well. He responded, "they take care of that with their suggested tips, the lowest being 18% (a pet peeve of his when restaurants do this because he thinks it should be up to the customer to decide). This is by far the best food in Banff. Not only the best vegan food but the best food in Banff hands down. While visiting in Banff we ate at multiple restaurants in between hikes and other activities. Most places were nothing special. Yet Nourish is the very best food in all of Banff!! My girlfriend and I came here for lunch twice. The first day we were a little unsure of what to get because everything sounded amazing but the owner with the tattoos and Australian accent was very helpful in helping us figure out what to get. Sorry we forgot your name, I hope you can forgive us. Well on this first day for a late lunch we ended up ordering the tempura broccoli to start. I'm unsure of what delightful magic they infused into the batter to make it taste so much better than just regular tempura broccoli. It's plated with a cashew cream sauce and a tomato kasundi. I didn't even know what kasundi was until I started writing this review and the memory of the flavors are mouth watering. The spices from the tempura with the contrast of the tangy kasundi and smooth cream was mind blowing. Our first entree was the broccoli cream soup that was the chef soup of the day. The broccoli cream soup was just as delicious. It's also paired with delicious fresh toasted bread. The warm soup has deep flavors and earthy notes with a bit of spicy but not too much just the perfect amount to let you know it's there without being rude and obnoxious. The last entree we shared was the mushroom ravioli. Now this was the best way to end the savory section of our flavor adventure. These ravioli are filed with that deep umami earth flavor then covered in a delicious cream sauce and topped with a few slices of strawberries and sprouts. This genius chef was brilliant to know the sweet bright flavor would complement the creamy savory ravioli perfectly! Then to finish off the whole meal was a Nutella cheese less cheesecake. I don't have a clue how they got the texture so perfect. It was a sweet refreshing flavor to end the meal! So after leaving on this first day we knew we had to go back to try more. This leads us to day two. This time we started with the gyoza. These little nuggets of deliciousness had a fresh but warm flavor and the dipping sauce was a perfect salty and tangy flavor! We also ordered the falafel salad. The falafel wasn't your ordinary dry stale falafel. These were crispy and soft and moist and the flavor was perfectly balanced. The herbs let you know they were there without over powering at all and tzatziki sauce with the red pepper hummus was a perfect bite every time. Lastly we could not decide on the King Kong noodles or the Mac and squeeze. We knew we couldn't finish all that food if we ordered both and the idea of wasting even a morsel of this amazing food seemed to be blasphemy even thinking about doing so. I could already hear the vegan gods getting ready to smite us down. Luckily the Australian angel was able to step in. He said he had a suggestion and was able to get us a small portion of both. We were able to try both dishes and not waste an ounce! So first the King Kong noodle. There is a reason this noodle is one of their best sellers. It has a nutty ramen like flavor but it's a thicker sauce and topped with nuts and bok choy! Then there is the Mac n Squeeze! The vegan god must have spoken to this chef in their sleep through a dream to give them the secret and ancient way. This was amazing Mac n Squeeze! The cheesy flavor was amazing and the texture was just how I knew it should always be! Finally a cheese that has the right flavor and texture. Again this place isn't only a place of amazing vegan food it is a place of amazing food in general. Any person in Banff should try their food vegan or not because you can't go wrong with any dish here. Our meal at Nourish tonight may have been the single best dinner experience my girlfriend and I have ever had. I'm a meat eater, so coming to a vegetarian/vegan restaurant was our of my norm, but I was shocked by how great the food was! We shared the nachos to start, and they were amazing. Never thought quinoa on nachos would make sense! For our entrees I had the Kimchi Burger and the Mrs. had their Bear Street Burger, both were fantastic! Nourish has a full menu of specialty cocktails, so of course we had to try a few. I had their Canada Day tequila Caeser, Caleb's Cereal Thingy (photo included) and a special plum drink they recommended that wasn't on the menu yet! The finishing touch to our night was the service though, which greatly elevated our experience. Trying to accommodate a vegan diet and a gluten free diet for two different people can make for some tough dining choices. But not if you go to Nourish Bistro in Banff! This funky spot is located in the downtown area of Banff, easily walkable from any of the shops you may have dropped some cash! We were immediately seated for dinner along the wall. We admired our neighbors' food and fresh everything looked. I got a local cider to start and my friend got a fresh pressed apple juice. Let me just say that her apple juice was the best I've ever had! Nourish has those commercial brands beat! The waiter (Evan-super friendly and from Australia) was great and explained the menu to us. There is various coding on the menu to explain vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Anything can be made to accommodate your dietary need which is really awesome. Everything is made fresh and to order so you get to sit and enjoy the meal as it is prepared and ready. My friend and I decided to start with raw bread with vegan cashew cheese. I was pleasantly surprised with the vegan cheese and how yummy it was slathered on the bread. We also decided to share the beautiful burrito and the King Kong noodles. Both were delicious but I really loved the noodles. It had this savory coconut milk broth that had some kick to it. I wasn't sure how full I would be after eating here but I definitely was stuffed but in a good and non disgusting way!
