Nobody wanted to take my case let alone talk to me so I could explain what happened to my brother and only a couple of them responded by email very disappointed will not use this group again. Someone could have at least recommended someone who could give me legal advice but they didn't guess they were afraid they would lose a dollar or two. Terrible law firm, terrible service, terrible communication, dishonest and terrible lawyers. This place is a joke. They switched lawyers on me the day of my court date without ever notifying me. I wanted to fire the lawyer after speaking to him for 5 minutes. The lawyer was a worthless idiot, just sat there and did nothing. Waste of time and money. I would never recommend this place. This law firm sucks. I would never recommend them for anyone. Joshua Michael Wilson was my lawyer and he never showed up to court. Instead he send someone else with no experience. This firm sucks! Chriss was our lawyer. He was lazy never follows up with you. He lied several time to us about our case. He said well he did do the crime, when a solution that could of help was addressed. We never saw video cam of our case nor recieved documents until we requested. Never no video.The case was closed when we finally received douments.He also missed court dates that looked bad for us. This is true so please believe it! Hes not the one!! i wish i can tell it all. i wish i could have gotten another lawyer. i ask could we switch lawyers in the firm but the owner said he was working hard, so he didnt. so disappointed in the outcome of this case! no stars really! also never planned meetings unless we requested. good luck read more

EDIT: I just got messaged by an "anonymous attorney" threatening legal action against me for my review below over three years after I posted it. Everything was dropped at my hearing and I did not get fined or jailed. Scare tactics to get clients are wrong and a bully move, Mr. Anonymous. Photo attached in above photos of threat message. Okay so this was the first law firm I called after I was charged with speeding and driving on a suspended license. I have never been charged or ticketed or pulled over before in my life and I had no idea what to expect. Keith Hallam spoke with me on the phone for almost an hour, explaining that he knew/was very familiar with the police officer that had pulled me over, so I felt like I was talking with the right person. I was honest in answering his questions and said that this was my first traffic offense and that I was indeed nervous/scared as to what may happen. I felt like he was being very thorough and forthcoming with me... Making me aware of every possible outcome. He proceeded to tell me that this was very serious and that I could face jail time and/or heavy fines. I was way more scared of going to jail and was sure something like that would happen anyway. After all said and done, he says that if I were to walk in there without a lawyer, they would surely take me into custody (eager to make an example out of someone like me/in my position. I was informed that the fee would be $1500 and that I had to pay $500 down and $500/month over 3 months. No way I can afford that. But this is the court of law and I said I'd drop by later that day with a money order. After calling another lawyer and being told that all I need to do is request a continuance and that I could most likely take care of this myself, I realized I was almost completely suckered and scared into overpaying for something I didn't even need. Now, my case is over: the driving on suspended dismissed and speeding significantly reduced with an $85 fine all without hiring a lawyer and only speaking with one briefly on the phone without being charged a dime. Screw you for trying to take advantage of and scaring someone who is already panicking about this in the first place. Not cool, Mr. Hallam. Not cool. read more

I hired this group for a Reckless Driving case that I had in Alexandria in December 2017 . I was very pleased/confident after speaking with Mr. Hallam along with the attorney that I received for my case. When I showed up at court for my trial, a different attorney (who I had never met) showed up to represent me/my case. He was ill-prepared and did not seem to know the details of my case. When we went up at trial, his only defense was to quote 1 specific case law. He seemed very nervous and did not hold up any other form of defense in the court room. Needless to say, I was shut down immediately and given the worst possible sentencing (including jail time). I now have to hire another law firm to appropriately handle my appeal. I am not sure what happened, however this is not what I paid for. When in line to file my appeal at the clerk's office, other people who were also in the courtroom to witness my humiliation, recommended a few lawyers as they were under the impression that I was being represented by a public defender. read more

I am sure that w/o Josh the traffic ticket would not have been changed from misdemeanor to moving violation. The office staff, especially the receptionist who answers the phone, is very professional and tries to help. Next time, I would ask the lawyers to be more responsive to the client. The outcome was what we all look for, and minor customer service issues regarding the lack of attention to the customer in the process did not affect my rating. I would definitely recommend NovaLegal Group to those who could GO TO JAIL in Virginia even if their tail lights are malfunctioning, but definitely in case of speeding. I have to strongly disagree with Elizabeth B. below. When I faced a serious felony charge of drug possession last year, I spoke to many defense attorneys who were quoting high rates well above my means. Keith Hallam was the first and only attorney in the NOVA region who spoke to me at length about the possible outcomes and what he could do to help. He was sympathetic of my fears of being convicted and my gut instinct was to trust him with my case. It is important to note that Keith understood that I wasn't making a ton of money and offered flexible payment plans. Throughout this experience, Keith offered invaluable advice before my court date. It is clear that he is an intelligent guy who tries to think outside of the box in legal arguments/ strategies while staying true to ethical standards. Keith was always prompt with answering my questions and spoke to me multiple times outside of office hours when I really needed his help. I followed Keith's advice by completing my community service & attending drug education courses. In the end, Keith was able to negotiate with the prosecutor on my behalf and reach the best outcome for my situation. I am really grateful for all his help. When Keith wasn't in the office, I've spoken to his associates who were all helpful in answering my questions. Note that Keith is usually in court during the day, so it is best to reach him in the late afternoon. read more

I am shocked to see the other ratings on here. I had James Simmons represent me for two felony counts in Arlington County. When I had retained him as my attorney I was already stuck in Alexandria Detention Center for 3 months with no bond despite many bond reviews. My first court appearance with James representing me he immediately got me a bond not only a bond but a very low amount bond. I ended up having to plea to both felonies but James negotiated the best case scenario with no jail time and an agreement of sentence between the states attorney and him so I didn't have to wait for a Judge to decide my fate in a seperate sentencing hearing which could of been as much as 5 years in jail. On top of that I am very difficult to deal with especially when it comes to anything with the Courts, so I wasn't always nice or respectful towards him. However even though I deserve whatever he gave me, he never lost his cool, raised his voice or lost his professionalism at any time. I recommend James to anyone facing any kind of Felonies in the area. The cost was reasonable and they offer payment plans which is great! read more

In August of 2016, I begin looking for legal representation for a case. I got the opportunity to do a free legal consultation over the phone with Keith Hallam. He was very knowledgeable, and thorough with my legal matter. I was very confident with his practice and he assured me that it was a 98% chance he could beat my case especially if I did all of my homework. From there I still decided to shop around in which I met up with 3 other Lawyers. After hearing them all out, I decided to hire Keith Hallam even though his prices were significantly Higher. I completed all of my homework and felt good about my decision. On the day of my case I met with a James Simons from Nova Legal group (Keith Hallam's law firm) whom knew little to nothing about my case. I then had to explain to him details about my case minutes before my trial. He was unprepared and lacked confidence that he could get the outcome that Keith Hallam assured. Not only was I convicted but I also did jail time. I didn't prepare my employer for this outcome (98%) so I ended up losing my job as well. With an abundance of knowledge of criminal cases combined with good ole fashion puffing makes Keith Hallam a great salesperson for his services. Unfortunately, I would much rather him Under promise and over deliver and leave the puffing to the sales people. read more
