I'm still somewhat new to the area and not sure where to go to get my nails done. I also waited until the last minute to try and get a pedicure, so the places with better ratings were full. I decided to give Nova Nails a shot and was disappointed. I'm used to having new files, scrubbers, and sanitized tools used by my nail techs. At previous salons they always open a sanitary package of nail tools and the files and buffers have also been brand new. At Nova, nothing was new. The items used on me came out of a drawer with multiple other files, scrubbers, clippers, etc., that looked old and used. When my nail tech was finished with each item, back in the drawer it went. I also didn't see any certificates/licenses posted, but I could have missed them? The pedicure on the whole is just ok. I did get the basic pedicure, so wasn't expecting extras, but the massage was not there and while she did clip my cuticles, she didn't clean under the toenails, and my cuticles still look dry. I've never left a nail appointment where ai was just generally concerned with the cleanliness of the shop. I won't be going back. read more

My daughter and I have shopped around, gone to quite a few and waited a pretty long time to find a nail shop to call our nail salon. Really happy to say our search is over We've found it and the best ladies to boot! Heidi is amazing, she is gentle, about as sweet as can be and a perfectionist! My feet feel and look amazing, best Pedicure I've ever gotten! Tracy is awesome too, she did our nails. She took her time, was very gentle and my manicure is flawless! We've not felt more comfortable and welcome at any salon. When we left it honestly felt like we've known these ladies forever! I highly recommend Nova nail salon! I hate to do this but unfortunately I had a fairly bad experience here. I got a manicure that was poorly done and already looking messed up on the first day. It has only been 3 days and it is already chipping off. On my pedicure they put 4 coats of paint on them and unfortunately they do not look great. read more

First time at this nail shop. Never again, felt they were in a rush the whole pedicure appointment for my mom and I.

I am from Houston- land of every type of food, nail salon, massage parlors and on and on. What I have learned over the years is that you can get a mani/pedi in Houston for like $40 with tip, super cheap. Even in a city with everything, I learned to find those that knew the customers happiness and time was valuable. The other major part to this was taking their time and not trying to pump through 500 people as quickly as possible. Tracy takes her time, she stayed open and took me at 7 pm because I was in town with my mom who was at the hospital. She was so easy to talk to, she took her time, she cared. Tracy use to be a nurse in Vietnam, she's got a great head on her shoulders and is very capable. I will go back and I am sending my mom too. Not to mention, in Houston you get some people who have great skills and techniques, Tracys abilities and skills were up there with the talent I had in Houston. Hats off to her, I am not a hugger and when I left, I loved her and the job she did so much I gave her a hug. I got a mani/pedi with gel/shellac for $60, so not bad at all. This was my first time at this salon and seeing the good reviews, I had high hopes. I don't know if Heidi was having a bad day and that's why her service was awful but she spoke nearly zero English and couldn't understand how I wanted my nails. I asked for MEDIUM-LONG nails with white powder. A very simple request. She started to put on pink powder and I had to remind her that I wanted white powder. She wiped it and continued putting on white powder. It looked like she had never put on white powder on nails before because it took a very long time and was super uneven. Then, she filed my nails and they looked textured it was so bad! My cuticles are all torn up because of the misuse of nail tools. Plus to add to all of this, they didn't wipe down ANYTHING after the woman in front of me got up and didn't even change the nail tools she used on me. Disgusting and definitely not following covid regulations. End of story I ended up paying $45 for very short uneven nails. I will never come back. read more

Tracy is awesome which is the reason why I am giving them 5 stars, but I would NOT recommend Olivia Capps as a nail tech. Even though her work is actually really good there is no customer service; she is rude and entitled. I am sure I am not the first and only client she has lost to this issue. It sadness me because for me it is more than just getting your nails done it's about getting excited and planning what you're going to do next and look on Pinterest for hrs lol and having "me time" as a mom and then walking out feeling fresh to top it off and now I am having to look for a new nail tech because some people are inconsiderate. Made an appointment with Tracy the owner for a 2 o'clock appointment for a full set gel and a gel pedicure. I showed up and since it's the day before mother's day I knew they would be busy and running a little behind schedule I get it! Once I walked in the ladies were nice and as expected said they were running behind sched I completely understood. Well fast forward I started getting my pedicure and all was good then the owner Tracy took over and finished my pedicure she asked me 3 times if I was getting a full gel set I said yes and it seemed as tough I was getting my Mani next and literally the owner went all bi polar and lost her shit and told me I'm not getting a full set go somewhere else I'm not doing it! Agree with all positive comments about her wonderful personality, work ethic and putting her clientele first. No pain, all gain. Just went yesterday and met her newest employee, Kim. Not only was she gracious, friendly, intelligent as Tracy but amazingly efficient, focused and painless as Tracy but also revealed her struggle to get to the US and become a citizen and also the love she has for her country. This was my first time coming here. I called to make an appointment for an acrylic set, Tracy said to come in at 6:00 PM. Then, she calls me back and says to come in at 5:45 pm and I said sure. On my way there she says to come in at 6:00 pm again. I got there and had to wait about 20 minutes which was fine. I got someone with very little experience at doing nails. It took her about an hour and a half just to shape and file the nails. Tracy ended up finishing my nails. When I paid, she kept saying my card wasn't going through. I gave her another card and it finally went through. When I got home I noticed I got charged three times which was 150$ so I called her the next day and said she wasn't home or at the shop and will refund me the next day. A few days passed and nothing had been refunded. I called her again and said she needed a bank statement to prove I was overcharged. I ended up calling my bank to get my money back. read more

I have been disappointed with the nail salons I've tried since moving to the Reno area two years ago. Since I live equal distance between Reno and Carson City, I figured I would check out the offerings in Carson. I found Tracy on Yelp and called for an appointment. She was able to get me in the same afternoon. I arrived in time and true to her word, she had me soaking in the water at 3:30 and was able to start my pedicure at 3:40. Tracy is very nice and talkative, but the best part was what a great job she did with my pedicure! From the cuticles to the callous removal, she was gentle, effective, and efficient. And she did a fabulous job with the polish too! Be advised she's a one woman shop so appointments are really necessary. I will definitely be back for more pedicures in the future! read more
