Wonderful discovery for my pre-teen, neurodivergent son go get away from homeschooling and just play and meet other kids. They have so much for them to do, no devices are allowed all day, and my son came home wiped out to sleep early which this single mother REALLY appreciated! This is my review from my son: : I liked your indoor camp a lot. It was exciting for all ages, and I met a lot of new friends there who were a lot of fun! There's science experiments and many rooms to explore to do activities in. There are groups in the camp: yellow, red, blue, and purple. The groups all represent different age groups, so you can play with people your age. It's a fun place with everything a child would dream of doing, and the staff are really nice too. There's educational classes for reading and art. The camp also tires out all the children by making lots of play which tires them to sleep extra early. It's a big place with a lot of running around space and do activities inside the building! There are a lot of board games to play such as Monopoly, Bingo, Uno, and Connect 4! A lot of children go there, and plat time, I hope to be there again soon. read more

I feel so lucky to have found this wonderful camp for kids! My 6yo daughter begs to go anytime school is out! She spends the day playing outside or in the large gym area inside, and she always brings home creative STEAM crafts. She has even done some cooking - they made homemade pop-tarts! We also spend many weeks here during the summer, when they spend most of their time outside enjoying the large back area. The owner is lovely - very responsive, flexible, and personable. We have had two great experiences here so far and will definitely be back! Our first experience was for free play. The imagination area, game room, and garage with ride-ons and balls were all a big hit! We booked a party date for my daughter's second birthday after our very first visit. For the birthday party, we chose a 12-2 time slot on a Saturday. The kids had free play til 12:30, had food and cake, made play dough at 1:00, back to free play, and then a dance party at 1:45. Susan was super friendly, organized, and helpful. She had the tables and chairs set up with tablecloths and balloons. We added our decorations and she was so kind to help set the tables and get everything together. She was great at keeping us on schedule too. The kids and adults all had a wonderful time, and we will look forward to our next play time and/or special event at NoVA PlayLabs! read more

This is a great business! The staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful. All of the areas are clean and well maintained. There was something for each of my kids (ages 10, 5 and 3) to do. They have multiple rooms with different activities, as well as classes. There happened to be a play dough class happening the day we came so I paid the extra $5 per child to have them participate. They made play dough from scratch and were allowed about an hour to play with it. It was fun. I live about an hour from here with traffic so I won't be coming very often but we will be back for sure. read more

Pretty cool spot located in a commercial complex. There is no sign on the building, only a small sign on their door so it can be difficult to find. Discovered this place through Groupon and I think it's a great find! Brought my niece and nephew here (4 and 2 year olds) and they both loved it. The Groupon we purchased is for 5 play passes which does not include any classes. There are 3 different types of admission fees, all based on whether you will be supervising your own children or not. There are several types of classes available; I wanted my niece in the "school readiness" class which was $15 dropping in. She really enjoyed it and class size is about 8 kids or so. If you want your child a guaranteed spot for a particular class, you'll need to register them for it - I think it's about $120 per class for 8 weeks. They do prorate them if you start the class later. There is a game room, reading room and several play areas that children can participate in before or after a class. Otherwise, you can just pay for a play pass and they will have access to these areas. The time limit and type of supervision (you hanging around or staff supervised) is dependent on the type of play pass you decide to purchase. There are snacks and drinks for purchase in the lobby (which also doubles as a classroom sometimes). They even sell coffee if that piques your interest. The staff was very friendly and helpful - you can tell they like to be around children. This is a great place to bring your children - they have something to do for all ages. This place has a indoor playground, toys, and play equipment for fun play but also provides other activities for children to learn and foster new skills. There are rooms dedicated for art, reading, technology, and group activities. They offer free Wi-Fi and a multi-purpose lounge for parents. Classes and camps are offered year round as well as open play time with staff supervision. Susan, the operator, is very welcoming and helpful. I hosted a baby shower at the venue and it was a smooth and easy process. The open layout is perfect for hosting events and all the kids loved the play area which served as a good buffer for the parents. Overall, the location is clean, has a home-like feel, and can keep children engaged and active. read more

My friends and I came here for the open play this morning and we had a great time! Between us we had 8 kids between 0 and 5. All of the kids had a great time and didn't want to leave! It's definitely not the high energy place that Kid Junction is, but my kids still loved it. Personally, I loved not having to contend with a tv and arcade games going, so my kids could only do active play. We were also the only ones there. During open gym time, they have 4 rooms that the kids can play in. One is the play area (with a small jungle gym, legos, dress up clothes, play kitchen, and various other small toys). This area is socks required and the children are supervised in here by one of their staff members. She was quite active with the kids and did a great job engaging them in the toys and keeping them safe. In the meantime, we were able to relax and chat with each other! I wasn't expecting that, so it was a definite bonus! The other rooms do not have supervision, though at one point, all the kids were in one of them, so the supervisor went in there to be with them instead. One room is a garage (heated) with lots of balance bikes, trikes, and other ride on toys. There's also a basketball hoop and a few balls. Another room contains toys such as jigsaws, board games (some suitable for older children), legos, train sets. Another room contains books. And another room has art/science supplies. I think the kids could have played in here, but I couldn't quite figure out if they were permitted (the lady supervising spoke limited english, and the owner had stepped out for lunch when I went to ask). The cost was $10 for the first child and $5 for each sibling. According to their website, their price schedule is changing in May 2016. One thing I didn't realize is that we could have been eligible for a group rate. $2 off each admission for 4 or more children. They allow outside food, except for peanuts. Food can only be consumed in the main entrance area, where they have lots of tables and chairs. If needed, they also have plates (Ikea ones). They encouraged us to order pizza, so we did that and the kids were then able to play a little after lunch. They also had a selection of drinks, yogurt, and chips available for purchase. Overall, we loved this place! I will definitely go back at some point. read more

My daughter has done all the things at Nova Playlabs so I feel rather qualified leaving a review. We've attended birthday parties, multiple summer camps and my 2nd grader is currently doing the distance learning support camp while Fairfax County Schools are virtual. Susan (the owner) and her team are all fabulous. Susan is so quick and thorough in her communication and responses whenever I reach out. She's aware of what all the kids are doing (whether it be their virtual schooling or other times) and is invested in the success and happiness of the kids she cares for. Having my daughter do her virtual schooling here is like having her at a second home. I know she's being very well cared for while also staying on task during the school day and getting to play with peers during her breaks. Very highly recommend! read more

In short: Great affordable place to host a birthday part here with 15 kids. Host, Susan, made party easy on us, setting up, directing kids, and cleanup/pack. Structured 2 hour party. Outside food allowed. Many activities for kids. Had my son's 4th birthday party here a couple weekends ago and he loved it! There were 14 kids from his preschool and everybody had a blast. The price was affordable compared to other places close by. The party was 2 hours, structured well with 50 minutes free play, 25 minutes art project, 30 minutes food and cake, and 15 minutes disco dance party. We were able to bring in outside food. Susan was a great host, who helped setup, direct the kids to each activity, and cleanup and pack at the end. She made the party really easy for us! The place had many activities. The reading room had a beautiful mural and disco ball for the dance party. The Lego and computer room seemed kind of limited, but all preschoolers didn't go in there anyways. The play area was nicely separated, required socks and no shoes, and had dress up clothes which most kids took advantage of. The game/train room was kind of small, and some board games and trains were missing pieces, but my son had a good time still. The back, where the garage is, was a nice surprise with a basketball hoop, plasma cars, and various other cars/bikes; first time we visited, it was cold and the garage was heated, although the heater can be a little loud. Random other notes: there was a separate room for baby changing (great for our little one) and two bathrooms. All in all, a great place to host a party for young kids. read more

We had our son's 2nd birthday party here yesterday and our guests had such a great time! Susan (the owner) went above and beyond. She was very accommodating and took care of our guests very well. She even recommended and added another activity which was the dance party for the kids to enjoy on top of the art activity that we had. My son loves this place so much that's why my husband and I chose to have his party here. At first, we were afraid that older kids might not enjoy it here, but I was wrong. They had so much fun that they did not even want to leave! I guess the only negative thing that happened was when the previous party stayed there until our scheduled party time. We couldn't really start setting up because they were using all the tables and chairs with their equipments all over the place (I guess they were having some wine and make up party). We paid for a private party (3pm-5pm) and we were told that we could set up at 2:15pm. The previous party didn't leave until 3pm! Susan was just so nice not to kick them out. Highly recommended! This place is one of a kind and I prefer Nova playlabs over kid junction, chibis, etc. I just had my daughter's 4th birthday here. Call me crazy but I booked the place without ever having been inside. The pictures on their website reflected exactly what you see when you get there. Some places spice up their websites including their photos but not this place. What you see is what you get and what you get is a clean, engaging environment for kids. My daughter wanted a Frozen themed party, so the balloons, table cloths, background music and slime (blue with glitter- kids made and took home) were all perfect. The director was amazing and so were the other employees. My daughter wants to go back during open play and all of her preschool friends want their parties at Nova Playlabs. There's also a sibling discount, but again, I don't remember exactly what it was. It's a very good deal especially considering the amount of effort Susan (the owner/manager) put into their classes. My son took classes at NoVA Playlabs including the Early Readers class. After two sessions he was able to read Level 2 books on his own. Susan and her staff were adept at encouraging and engaging my reluctant reader who is now excited to show off his skills. I bought a groupon for 5 passes and used them all in the same day. Our kids were 8, 7, 6, 3, and 2. Apparently I didn't read the groupon very well. I expected that we would be able to use some of the rooms (reading room, art room, etc) but we were limited to the playroom, the garage, and the game room. Staff seemed friendly and attentive. The toys and riding things I saw were in decent shape. They looked like they had been played with a lot (which is, of course, what happens to them at a play place). I didn't notice anything dangerous or broken. The kids had some fun but were frustrated/disappointed that they couldn't take any toys up into the clubhouse...not even a bag or sunglasses that was part of their "outfit" (there were lots of dress up clothes available). I think it is geared more toward younger children, as our older 3 were unable to expel a lot of energy as we had hoped. I would not visit again. read more

We've been at NP in some form or another since moving to NoVa 2.5 years ago. All of my kids (7, 5, and 1yo) love it here. Susan, the owner, is so thoughtful and caring. There's a lot to do between all the rooms- especially during camps, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. I love the variety of activities- where else can you find mindfulness for kids?! Open play is also convenient. I'm looking forward to wearing out my toddler this winter when restlessness sets in. Overall great value and excellent experiences for my kids. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place out with my almost 2 year old. Great concept, terribly carried out. However I was not happy with my visit. I found tons of hazards of which may be hazardous with little ones. The glue is coming off of the padding of the stairs, which is covered with duct tape... my child has an exceptionally large head and I found it hazardous with the windows cut out as such pictured. One of the toys had wires exposed to. There was dust in the keyboard...why have a keyboard in your play land to begin with? The slide is super close to the wall, though it is padded the padding is easily moved with the use of children. The one light in the garage is simply not enough. There's a chain that is unsafe with children. A cabinet in the play area has wires coming out and no lock to keep secure. (Easy latch fix) also the door to the electrical room has no lock on the handle accessible to toddlers...I thought maybe there's a chain stopping the children from going in there...no I could easily open it. Safety should always be a must for children's facilities. I will not be revisiting here. read more

We LOVE NoVA PlayLabs! We have sent our son for day camps, summer camps, after school camps over the years. He now attends 2 days a week during virtual learning. The employees there are amazing! Our son requests to go there and asks me to sign him up for camps. I cannot say enough good things about Susan the owner. She is flexible with schedules and truly cares about the kids. She knows they get what they need at school but is also aware that there is more for the kids. They focus on STEM projects and we always see improvements in our son after he spends time at PlayLabs. read more

I haven't actually used their service but their Certifikid coupon says ages 4-14 and their website says 5-14. I emailed through their website contact form to find out which was correct since my son will be four at the beginning of summer camp and 5 at the end of summer camp. I can't praise Susan's, the owner enough! After 2 1/2 months of staying at home with my boys I was called by my employer to return to the office full time. I enrolled my boys in school's out camp this week expecting a huge adjustment from my boys after being at home and having no routines other than their online class. After their first day at camp they were both smiling and adjusted into a new environment quickly. I imagine that it was not an easy task to get my boys back into a routine while enforcing proper social distancing guidelines but Susan made this happen with positive results! My kids are now looking forward to camp this summer given all the limitations that Covid has brought to us. I have full confidence that Susan and her team will go above and beyond to make sure that the campers are safe while having a great summer! read more

We attended their "fancy Nancy tea party" which is a far cry from fancy or a tea party. We were quite disappointed. The facility is FILTHY they had watered down soap in the bathroom which was worse than a gas station bathroom in terms of cleanliness and didn't even have paper towels so I couldnt dry my hands and then when I went into their kitchen to try and get some soap to wash my hands from playing in their filthy playroom they didn't even have soap in their kitchen which they were preparing food in for my children this place should be shut down I have never been so disgusted in all my life of a children's play place. the tea party itself was a cute idea but very poorly executed and children should never be serving themselves I know this from the industry that I work in the owner should've had gloves on as she was preparing these foods. I am embarrassed For the family who owns this business. I wish I had thought to take more photos. and to note you still haven't changed the light bulb in the basketball/cars area. I feel bad posting like this about a small business but I feel so strongly that this place is so unsafe and filthy that other people need to be aware. Please, for our community get your act together. This place was obviously an investment it just hasn't been kept up. read more

I had my sons 4th birthday here yesterday and booked it on a blind tip that this place was awesome...sight unseen...and it was awesome! We had kids ranging from 3-6 and everyone had fun! The staff and owner were fabulous and super helpful. Everyone had a great time! Most of the kids played in the back two rooms (the play place set up and the dress up clothes and the rider toys and basket ball hoops). We've rented Nova PlayLabs two years in a row for our son's birthday party. I can't say enough great things about the layout and the high level of customer service and professionalism offered by Susan (owner). Each year, she went above and beyond to help us set up for the party, offered helpful suggestions and this year, she even let us use her party decorations at no additional cost. Unlike other competitors, Nova PlayLabs provides an hour to set up before your party and for a type A mom like myself, that's a huge plus. Additionally, the amount of activities available for children of any age keeps them entertained for longer periods, so much even adults will join in the fun when riding the cars in the garage and/or playing basketball. read more

Tiny spot, maybe for a family with one young child, under 2, but the play area is so small and unorganized. The games in the game room were all missing pieces, and the bikes in the ride area (i.e. Dark Garage with one spot light) were all busted, with wheels "repaired" with duct tape. Was not at all impressed. This does not even fall into the same category as other real play places. I admit kid junction has gone down hill, but chibis is ten times better than this! We visited here today for the first time and my 6 and 4 year olds had a great time and are already asking to go back tomorrow! It was very clean, had a small gym area with some ride on toys and basketball hoops, had a creative play area with a lot of toys and a slide, etc., and some other activity rooms with books, games and art. I would say the target age for the open play space would be toddler up through age 7/8. (There were some games and other table activities to keep older kids entertained but its not really an active play place for "big kids".) read more

So, this place was smaller and less impressive than I'd expected. I think if you needed someone to watch your kid for a few hours while you did work or ran errands, this place would be great. The women working there seemed very nice. Not as clean as I'd hoped, some of the toys missing parts. We found ants crawling all over one corner near a garbage can, but told the woman at the desk and she came to clean up right away. There wasn't anyone playing in the garage area when we got there, so they put the lights and heat on for us, but it was pretty chilly (it was mid-winter when we went by). Personally, I'd rather go to Chibis where my daughter has more room to run around and where everything seems cleaner, but the reviews on Yelp for this place are actually quite high, so it might just be my personal preference. And while I wasn't super impressed, my daughter seemed pretty content playing so really, as long as she was entertained on a cold day, that was all I really wanted to accomplish. read more
