We have had two great experiences here so far and will definitely be back! Our first experience was for free play. The imagination area, game room, and garage with ride-ons and balls were all a big hit! We booked a party date for my daughter's second birthday after our very first visit. For the birthday party, we chose a 12-2 time slot on a Saturday. The kids had free play til 12:30, had food and cake, made play dough at 1:00, back to free play, and then a dance party at 1:45. Susan was super friendly, organized, and helpful. She had the tables and chairs set up with tablecloths and balloons. We added our decorations and she was so kind to help set the tables and get everything together. She was great at keeping us on schedule too. The kids and adults all had a wonderful time, and we will look forward to our next play time and/or special event at NoVA PlayLabs!

This is a great business! The staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful. All of the areas are clean and well maintained. There was something for each of my kids (ages 10, 5 and 3) to do. They have multiple rooms with different activities, as well as classes. There happened to be a play dough class happening the day we came so I paid the extra $5 per child to have them participate. They made play dough from scratch and were allowed about an hour to play with it. It was fun. I live about an hour from here with traffic so I won't be coming very often but we will be back for sure.

Pretty cool spot located in a commercial complex. There is no sign on the building, only a small sign on their door so it can be difficult to find. Discovered this place through Groupon and I think it's a great find! Brought my niece and nephew here (4 and 2 year olds) and they both loved it. The Groupon we purchased is for 5 play passes which does not include any classes. There are 3 different types of admission fees, all based on whether you will be supervising your own children or not. There are several types of classes available; I wanted my niece in the "school readiness" class which was $15 dropping in. She really enjoyed it and class size is about 8 kids or so. If you want your child a guaranteed spot for a particular class, you'll need to register them for it - I think it's about $120 per class for 8 weeks. They do prorate them if you start the class later. There is a game room, reading room and several play areas that children can participate in before or after a class. Otherwise, you can just pay for a play pass and they will have access to these areas. The time limit and type of supervision (you hanging around or staff supervised) is dependent on the type of play pass you decide to purchase. There are snacks and drinks for purchase in the lobby (which also doubles as a classroom sometimes). They even sell coffee if that piques your interest. The staff was very friendly and helpful - you can tell they like to be around children. Overall it was a great experience and I'm interested in purchasing an unlimited month pass for the kids.

This is a great place to bring your children - they have something to do for all ages. This place has a indoor playground, toys, and play equipment for fun play but also provides other activities for children to learn and foster new skills. There are rooms dedicated for art, reading, technology, and group activities. They offer free Wi-Fi and a multi-purpose lounge for parents. Classes and camps are offered year round as well as open play time with staff supervision. Susan, the operator, is very welcoming and helpful. I hosted a baby shower at the venue and it was a smooth and easy process. The open layout is perfect for hosting events and all the kids loved the play area which served as a good buffer for the parents. Overall, the location is clean, has a home-like feel, and can keep children engaged and active.

My friends and I came here for the open play this morning and we had a great time! Between us we had 8 kids between 0 and 5. All of the kids had a great time and didn't want to leave! It's definitely not the high energy place that Kid Junction is, but my kids still loved it. Personally, I loved not having to contend with a tv and arcade games going, so my kids could only do active play. We were also the only ones there. During open gym time, they have 4 rooms that the kids can play in. One is the play area (with a small jungle gym, legos, dress up clothes, play kitchen, and various other small toys). This area is socks required and the children are supervised in here by one of their staff members. She was quite active with the kids and did a great job engaging them in the toys and keeping them safe. In the meantime, we were able to relax and chat with each other! I wasn't expecting that, so it was a definite bonus! The other rooms do not have supervision, though at one point, all the kids were in one of them, so the supervisor went in there to be with them instead. One room is a garage (heated) with lots of balance bikes, trikes, and other ride on toys. There's also a basketball hoop and a few balls. Another room contains toys such as jigsaws, board games (some suitable for older children), legos, train sets. Another room contains books. And another room has art/science supplies. I think the kids could have played in here, but I couldn't quite figure out if they were permitted (the lady supervising spoke limited english, and the owner had stepped out for lunch when I went to ask). The cost was $10 for the first child and $5 for each sibling. According to their website, their price schedule is changing in May 2016. One thing I didn't realize is that we could have been eligible for a group rate. $2 off each admission for 4 or more children. They allow outside food, except for peanuts. Food can only be consumed in the main entrance area, where they have lots of tables and chairs. If needed, they also have plates (Ikea ones). They encouraged us to order pizza, so we did that and the kids were then able to play a little after lunch. They also had a selection of drinks, yogurt, and chips available for purchase. Overall, we loved this place! I will definitely go back at some point.

We had our son's 2nd birthday party here yesterday and our guests had such a great time! Susan (the owner) went above and beyond. She was very accommodating and took care of our guests very well. She even recommended and added another activity which was the dance party for the kids to enjoy on top of the art activity that we had. My son loves this place so much that's why my husband and I chose to have his party here. At first, we were afraid that older kids might not enjoy it here, but I was wrong. They had so much fun that they did not even want to leave! I guess the only negative thing that happened was when the previous party stayed there until our scheduled party time. We couldn't really start setting up because they were using all the tables and chairs with their equipments all over the place (I guess they were having some wine and make up party). We paid for a private party (3pm-5pm) and we were told that we could set up at 2:15pm. The previous party didn't leave until 3pm! Susan was just so nice not to kick them out. Otherwise, everything else was great! We highly recommend this place! I will definitely come back here for play dates and classes. Thank you again NOVA play labs for a wonderful time!

After making slime, the kids had time to work with it (cut, roll, make shapes, etc).

Highly recommended! This place is one of a kind and I prefer Nova playlabs over kid junction, chibis, etc. I just had my daughter's 4th birthday here. Call me crazy but I booked the place without ever having been inside. The pictures on their website reflected exactly what you see when you get there. Some places spice up their websites including their photos but not this place. What you see is what you get and what you get is a clean, engaging environment for kids. My daughter wanted a Frozen themed party, so the balloons, table cloths, background music and slime (blue with glitter- kids made and took home) were all perfect. The director was amazing and so were the other employees. My daughter wants to go back during open play and all of her preschool friends want their parties at Nova Playlabs. Looking forward to coming here again.

We ended up leaving but the amount of tuition they charge (and it keeps increasing every few months) is crazy for what we're getting. pot holes in the parking lot go unfixed, their signage on the awning got taken down (both did) now its a blank space that looks like something should be there. The inside has not great lighting and wall colors, it looks kind of dim/depressing, instead of bright and clean. I don't know where all this tuition money is going. It could use a facelift and better playground. The school aged kids room has 2 men as the sole providers and I asked if there were ever female assistants or helpers in there and was pretty much told " i know there's a stigma against male daycare teachers." Ok?? sorry males are responsible for 75-90% of the crimes I'm worried about. And Males constitute the majority of "offending" child care providers/babysitters reported to the police (77%) So I don't think that was a ridiculous question or even something ridiculous to be concerned about. And her lack of concern towards MY concerns was unsettling. We also had multiple incidents with my preschooler, one she told me the teacher grabbed her face because she wouldn't wash her hands, and it hurt. They didn't really do anything about it except, apparently, ask the teacher if she did that and she said no. Ok....Why would a 3 year old make up something so random? The preschool teacher also had a loud bell she would ring to get the kids to pay attention which my 3 year old was scared of and she had sensory issues with loud sounds after that started happening, she would freak out at any loud sound and it didn't stop until after we pulled her out. Another incident in the preschool classroom was that they were trying to get all the kids to be quiet and so they told them that here's a monster out in the hallway of the school and if they don't be quiet the monster will come in. So naturally, my 3 year old told me about this, very scared, and was scared of monster in the school and at home, especially at bed time, for awhile. Again, told the front desk, I don't think anything was done about it. My 3 year old went here for a year. She cried almost every day at drop off. She hated going there. I thought it would ease up eventually but it never did. My school ager liked the kids but that was about it. One of the school aged teachers even apparently sat there and told the kids he doesn't like them and what he doesn't like about each one, and some kids cried. I'm just glad I'm out of this money suck. It is not up to the standards that the local competition has, and shouldn't be charging the same tuition as the local competition. I would not recommend this place.

Big mistake! We had the benefit of dropping her off and picking up at times not when all things were "dressed up" to cover the chaos and unprofessionalism. It goes like this: 1) the two owners, Ann Chu (Korean origin) and Anna Corley are young women that never had children or degrees in child development or Education. Anna Corley managed to graduate from the #1 party school in Florida. Miss Chu finishes a degree in Arts. See their biographies on their site and think about it hard before even going for interview with that establishment. 2) their website boasts Spanish as the second language. Wrong - it is the first language, because they hire Spanish-speaking workers (because they are cheap) and in fact many of them cannot speak ANY English. I am sure you can use sign language to communicate with them if you want. 3) their main child care giver was a pathologist (hopefully not for dead people) prior to joining their outfit from Puerto Rico. Want to read more? 4) our daughter's bruises were unexplained (of course, every child gets bruises). Mis Chu will convince you that it is normal (with a smile on her face). She thinks she is a doctor, forgot to tell you. 5) our daughter's water bottle always came nice and full every day. Children don't need to drink water if they don't want to. Again - talk to Miss Chu. She will tell you everything you need to know about your child. 6) 17 days sick in 5 weeks. That is our daughters track record. 4 doctor visits to treat our daughters infections and viruses acquired from children that should have never been admitted in the first place. But who cares, right? The key is for Miss Chu to have the cash flow coming in. 7) The Ivy Preparatoty School is a big statement. I call this whole rig a bunch of false advertising. Not sure how they got the state license to run the child car facility. Classic example of check the box application. Anyways, folks, do your research. We wish we did...

The ivy owners (who never had children of their own or any education related to child development) did not show any compassion or understanding and kept the deposit $1,362 and annual supplies fees of nearly $500 because they need to "run their business" and fund their material aspirations. Also, bruises and bumps on our daughter were never explained. Ann Chu, the owner, always replied that she does not know where our child got them clearly demonstrating the place is either short handed or simply does not have time to pay attention to your kid. Besides multiple throat, sinus, and ear infections our child (a long with a few more kids) suffered from a severe unstoppable diarrhea the day we pulled her out of this nightmare. This was the last present from the ivy school. It took over a month to restore the health of our little one. She lost sleep and and cried for one month after we left the Ivy school. Being used to the eclectic and energetic vibes of city life, we had inhibitions in how she would take to attending such a small and quiet school. Along with her previous classmates and guides, she was used to walking the streets of Brooklyn, taking the ferry to Manhattan, and walking to various public parks. When we arrived to see Guidepost Montessori at Fairfax, we were struck by its quaintness. The children have their own play area in the back of the schoolhouse, surrounded by a picket fence. It is intimate, yet spacious enough for all of the children to enjoy. The school is very clean and organized. The classrooms are set up in typical Montessori fashion, with the added charm of displayed artwork made by the pupils. The faculty takes the time to decorate for the seasons and holidays. The most charming and wonderful aspect of this school is the faculty. From the Head of School, the Administrative Director, to the Lead Guides, Assistant Guides and After School guides, everyone is kind, caring, patient and gentle, and respectful. They immediately treated our family as one of their own. They are the reason our daughter loves going to school each day. She has flourished under their care and guidance and we cannot thank them enough.
