Terrible experience with this company. Please avoid!!! Not professional. Called Novac to assist with a squirrel problem in the attic. Tim was the person I worked with. He seemed nice and like he knew what he was doing. During the initial consultation he tried to sell me three options 1)$500 (trapping, removal, seal entrance, disinfect attic), 2) $ 1000-(option # 1 plus additional blow in of insulation), and option 3) $2400-Option 1 with complete removal of insulation and adding new blow in insulation. I opted for option one and told him I would think about adding the insulation because I didn't feel that one squirrel could have messed up insulation enough that it needed to be removed and replaced. At first Tim seemed responsive, but every time I spoke with him he asked if I wanted to add the insulation. I told him I just want to catch the squirrel before making that decision. He installed on trap inside the attic w/ a peanut butter cookie. He came maybe twice to check the trap in the attic. After that was not working I questioned what is the next course of action would be. He mentioned that he would install a trap on the roof. I never saw him install this trap and I'm not certain that he installed it when he was supposed to. I say this because a week after the trap was supposed to be installed I came home when he and his coworker was here and I saw him going up the ladder with the trap. I questioned him about it and he said that one of his guys came by on the weekend and removed the trap because they are not allowed to trap on the weekends. I asked one, why didn't they gentleman knock on the door to let me know what he was doing because I had been home all day and two, how is it that you are not able to trap on weekends when the trap he installed in my attic had not been removed for 2 weeks including the weekends. I dealt with Tim over about 2 1/2 weeks. He has terrible communication as in returning phone calls/messages. I texted him with specific instructions on how to contact me and he blatantly told me "ma'am I didn't even read your message".
I contacted him to let him know that I was not happy with the service and lack of communication during the process. He cut me off and told me that we could end everything right now because he doesn't like someone questioning him. He said "we haven't charged your card for the $500 so we will just end this and he would come pick up his traps during the week". When he arrived to pick up his equipment he told me that he had another job that was paying him more funds than my $500 job. I'd rather him not offered me this service if he wasn't going to treat me with the same service as his other customers. I asked him to edit my receipt to show exactly what was done at my property. The only thing he did was clear out a partial bird nest and install a plastic vent cover on my bathroom exhaust to keep the birds out. He tried to write on my receipt that he removed a squirrel from my house. I questioned him on the spot about this and why wouldn't they report this to me if that is what was done. So he scratched that part off my receipt. He told me that they would do a new charge only for the nest clean out and the cover. I found out that he actually did charge my credit card for $500. I called him to ask when it would be credited back and he said someone would be contacting me. No one contacted me. I called a few days later asking to speak with someone and he said that they would mail me a check. At that point I called my credit card company to file a dispute. They should not be sending me a check if I paid with a credit card. That is where I am now and haven't heard from Tim since. This experience was so horrible that I went and signed up for Angie's List. Will update with end result.
FYI - I ended up using another company, Veteran's Pest. More responsive and less expensive than Novac. read more
