Since I brought him home, he has suffered with recurrent treatment resistant Giardia. He was vomiting from the time. We drove him home and had very little appetite for weeks. Because of this he is very likely to be extremely stunted in his growth meaning that his job of being a mobility service dog is in jeopardy of not being a viable option so I have spent almost $4000 on a puppy that was meant to be healthy, which I am too attached to to send back, who is most likely not gonna be able to help me in the way that he was supposed to. I informed the breeder that he was positive for Giardia as soon as I found out because I wanted them to know in case they had other families reporting G.I. issues with other puppies. In my opinion, a reputable breeder should respond to that by saying "please send us the bill for any treatment the puppy might need and we will cover it" (I've spoken to other people who's breeder had litters with Giardia, and as soon as that breeder found out, all the owners were contacted immediately and the breeder offered to cover treatment without being asked, so it's definitely not unheard of). That is not what happened. I have since treated my puppy with dewormer and antibiotics four times and he is still positive for Giardia, still having diarrhea, and still not growing properly. This dog was expected to be between 75 and 80 pounds like his dad and now his projected growth is less than 55 pounds. I emailed the breeder a week ago going over the whole situation from start to finish and giving them an itemized list of what I have spent trying to treat him and my home for Giardia. I have not heard anything and it has been a full week since I sent that email. They have not responded in any way, nor have they reimbursed me for the almost $1000 I have spent on treating this. When I first brought him home, I had every intention of recommending this breeder to others and of getting future dogs from them, both service dogs or pet dogs, however the lack of appropriate response to this situation has made me lose all trust and respect in them as a breeder. I will never get another dog from this breeder. I will never get another puppy from a breeder without requiring a Giardia test to be negative within a few days of picking up the dog. I originally really liked the breeder. They seemed very nice. They had a beautiful home that was extremely clean despite the number of dogs that they had and they seem to know what they were talking about, as well as having produced other therapy and service dogs previously, but I no longer can recommend them after the way the situation has played out. Please be very wary before purchasing a dog from these people. They sell puppies for $3500 and clearly are turning out puppies with treatment resistant Giardia. Upon further research, I am far from the only person who got a puppy from them that was infected with Giardia, I've found posts as far back as 2018 about this. I thought I had done my due diligence, but now I would definitely call them a backyard breeder/puppy mill. They also lied about having certain health clearances, ghost anyone who reaches out with issues, and may or may not inbreed their dogs. Multiple people said their puppies had hip or elbow dysplasia as well. If I could give them zero stars, I would. They scammed a disabled woman on a fixed income out of almost $4000. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I do agree that the…read moreenclosures they are kept in are quite disheartening, and I'm grateful I was able to bring him home with me. I wouldn't trade him for anything. Now, let's chat. I was pleased to hear from Bonnie, the owner, inquiring whether I had followed the health screening agreement as required. We took "Nick," now Benjamin, to be seen within the time frame outlined in the contract. After his visit, I was informed that he had a parasite in his stool. I immediately notified Bonnie, who offered me a store credit. While I thought that was a kind gesture, I do not live in the area, so it would not benefit me. Furthermore, I was only being informative, as required by the agreement--I wasn't seeking anything. Since she offered, I simply asked if there was an alternative given my location. She insisted on store credit only and asked for the records and invoice, which I provided. Again, I clarified that I was not requesting compensation. After that exchange, however, Bonnie stopped communicating altogether. She never inquired about whether Benjamin was ill from the parasite or showed any concern for his well-being. I found that quite disappointing. The parasite is contracted by consuming rodents, infected feces etc. That doesn't say much about his dwellings prior to being adopted.

From the initial consult with Kenzie, we felt very comfortable with how she approached training and her experience. When Charlie came back after 4 weeks, it was such a big change! No longer did we have to worry about leash pulling, picking up trash on walks, and being overcome with excitement whenever guests would visit. We can now enjoy our dog all of the time. We take her on long walks, she joins us at restaurants and events around the neighborhood, and overall is a much better behaved dog without losing her personality. We could not be happier with our experience with Kenzie.

Controlled K9 came to our home to evaluate her and recommended a four week board and train to work on basic obedience, leash manners, and off leash recall. We loved that she was taken in as a member of the family during her "boarding school," and they provided regular photos and updates on her progress throughout. She returned to us her same happy, sweet self in the house, but basically a new dog on leash! The Controlled K9 team trained us on how to continue her training, and remained super responsive to our follow up questions. It's incredible to see the transformation and we're so grateful to the Controlled K9 team for changing our lives - and Zoey's - for the better!
