I reached out to him again when I decided to re-do my kitchen and guest bath and once again I am amazed and so pleased. Everything looks fabulous - cabinetry, countertops, fixtures, sink etc. His designs ano ideas are spot on, and he spends the time to get to know what your taste it and what you would want to live with. He doesn't just suggest what is currently the trend. He also really has his clients' interests at heart, and makes gentle recommendations about other things to consider in a remodel, even though he doesn't make any extra commission by doing so. He convinced me that since I was already having so much work done, I really should also redo the flooring in the halls, living room and dining room, repaint those rooms, and upgrade the lighting track in the living room at the same time. Bear with me because I'm going to give a fairly detailed review... this company richly deserves it! We own a 1968 ranch home in Sonoma that we purchased in 2003 after moving here from WA state. It needed a lot of work and we renovated only half of the spaces before our budget ran out. We lived with the original kitchen, avocado appliances and all, until our recent kitchen update which is now 99% done, just lacking ovens and dishwasher on backorder from the manufacturer. We began the process about 2 years ago by visiting and considering about a dozen cabinet suppliers and about the same number of general contractors. We just could not get completely comfortable with any of them until we found Novato K&B. We set an appointment with Roz and began an epic process of planning and purchasing. She was an absolute joy to work with! They handle several lines of cabinets and we settled on Columbia (also known as Solera for some odd reason... two websites, same products). Columbia is a Canadian company and we were impressed with the value. Very well made at a reasonable price partly due to the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar. I'm an architect so I had done most of the floor planning but we relied on Roz for the details of cabinet sizing, finished panels, and features. She uses an advanced CAD system that interfaces with the manufacturer's catalog that enabled her to accurately specify every item. Roz also came to our home several times to verify the measurements that I had entered into my own CAD system and we eventually came up with super accurate dimensions before placing the order. This is very important to avoid installation challenges. Roz recommended Hartnett Construction, a general contractor that she had worked with many times so we went with her suggestion since we were not overly pleased with the others we interviewed. We had to wait several months for Hartnett to become available but the wait was well worth it. I'll be entering a review of them shortly. Suffice it to say, we are VERY pleased with Hartnett. When the cabinets were delivered to our home, Roz was here meticulously checking off every item on her order list. Ultimately, there were a few small errors but she was always quick to take responsibility and order what was missing or incorrect. Considering the size of this job, the few errors were entirely forgivable since Roz quickly remedied them and they didn't hold up the job significantly. The working relationship between Novato K&B is excellent so they were able to easily work around these blips. Every construction job has glitches and it helps when key players have a history of working together. We began in September 2017 and are just now finishing up in April. The project had two month long delays due to our evacuation during the fires last October, and some inferior work by a subcontractor that we had chosen ourselves... the only sub not part of Hartnett's crew. That's all behind us now. I can't recommend Novato K&B enough and have given Roz permission to refer prospective customers to us for a conversation about our experience.
