The bedrooms and bathroom are on the second floor so it was very convenient.. He installed a jacuzzi bathtub. At first I couldn't see how every thing would work together and it came out great. The master bedroom had a tiny shower. And there again, he took advantage of of the space, moved a closet and we have a wonderful walk in toilet. Miconi has a lot of great designs to choose from. Northern Construction Tile did two tile/stone projects for me. The first one was vey challenging…read moreand frustrating as they sent crew who were either learning how to tile or just did not care about the quality of their work. Hector Garcia was very difficult to communicate with when asked to come back and repair their defective work. Often blaming others for their poor workmanship. See photos. I worked with Hector to get the repairs done but had to have other tile craftsmen come in to fix the work he said he could not fix. I was forced to pass these added cost on to Northern Construction Tile. We decided to give Northern Construction Tile another chance on another project that was just stone countertops, bathroom wainscot, and a fireplace hearth. We trusted that Hector would pay more attention to detail as he had he would. The countertops were done incorrectly and had to be returned to be repaired, the marble wainscot had multiple issues of poor workmanship. The window sill in the shower sloped toward the window, the marble bench has issues at the joints where the marble is stained. They chipped the corner of the bench and patched it. The patch is completely visible! See photos! The fireplace hearth seemed like a really easy piece to install, but no, they set it 1/4" below the wood flooring in one corner. Then they blamed us. We ended up cancelling their contract and hiring another company to finish their work. All costs for their repairs were back charged to them, per subcontract. We have removed this company from our list of tile/stone contractors.

The truth is there were things I simply did not think about when planning out my project. For example, the 12" tiles I planned for the floor left me with a very unattractive layout. Hector noticed this early enough in the planning that I was able to select a 12"x18" tile that looked so much better. My favorite think about working with Hector however was his casual and simple desire to get it done and get it done correctly. If I pointed out something I wasn't satisfied with (chipped tile, etc), it was fixed. No arguing. No complaining. And no renegotiating on cost! Every phone call to Hector ended the same way. He'd say "OK. Let's do it!" and he would be there to make sure it was done. Very happy we were referred to them.
