After speaking with the receptionist, I was amazed to receive a call back within 15 minutes from Dr. West, the specialist on call. She was incredibly kind, thorough, and compassionate. After listening to my symptoms, she made the decision to bring me in for an exam within two hours as we live two hours away. Despite her already full schedule, she fit me in and performed a careful, detailed examination. I couldn't be more grateful. Dr. West went above and beyond when she didn't have to, and she also made sure I was scheduled for a follow-up to continue monitoring things. Her care and professionalism gave me peace of mind during a very stressful time. I'm truly thankful.

I've had a few small problems with them, including pricing issues and communication issues, but I was willing to overlook them. However, the last straw for me was at my most recent eye exam. During some routine tests, the tech sat me in a chair in a darkened room, explained the upcoming test to me, then nonchalantly told me that the test would be an additional $45 charge, without giving me an alternative or the option to reject the test. However, I interrupted her and told her that I wanted to reject the test. The tech then said that I would need to have my eyes dilated if I rejected the test, and I agreed to that. Then, she handed me a form and told me that I needed to read it, as I was sitting in the dark without my contacts in or my eyeglasses on, in order to reject the test and opt for dilation. Later, when we returned to the exam room, I was asked to sign the form, again, without my contacts or glasses. It seems to me that asking a patient to read and sign a consent form without their contacts or glasses, in a dark room, is ethically dubious. It also seems like really shady sales practices to make a test with an additional $45 charge the default, when a no-cost alternative is also available. I don't think I can trust Suburban Eye Care to have my best interest in mind after an experience like this. I sent this feedback to Suburban Eye Care soon after my negative experience and received no response from anybody at the practice, so it seems clear that my concerns are not important to them.

The vision therapy manager requested 12k out of pocket costs confirming my insurance would not cover. As soon as I raised concern about cost, they instantly provided a $4k reduction. The vision therapy manage was annoyed with me questioning the cost when come to find out my insurance coverage had never been checked! My insurance company had to reach out to them to get them to even check my insurance. They even called me back to let me know something seemed odd about their conversation with Suburban Eyecare Vision therapy manager. Sharing this experience as I'm honesty at a loss as to why this was such a difficult, confusing experience when it was easily avoidable with a little work - that I ended up doing in having my insurance company contact them. I ended up choosing not to go here given this experience and also after researching this isn't the first time this place has been involved in scams with the owners history of being indicted on many felony charges of writing illegal prescriptions. Avoid this place!

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Robyn Dragoo was very disappointing. The doctor only asked a quick question about whether I had dry eyes and did not provide any medical treatment. However, they used my Social Security number to bill my medical insurance without my permission and then charged me $119. A simple vision exam was changed to a medical visit that I never agreed to. On top of that, the prescription Dr. Dragoo gave me was incorrect. My new glasses cannot see clearly near or far, so now I need to get another exam somewhere else to fix the issue. Overall, the billing felt misleading, my insurance information was handled in a way that made me uncomfortable, and the prescription itself was inaccurate. I would strongly recommend double-checking your billing and prescription if you plan to come here.

The organization of the group is apparent. Everyone knows their role. After having cataract surgery at Trinity Health, another extension of the organization, equally grand. Every issue that I experienced post-operatively was dealt with by the doctor himself. As a matter of fact, the staff that treats you in the back seem like doctors, too. I recognize the skill and expertise they have individually. My mother was under his care for almost 10 years and when she went to see a specialist at the Kellogg eye center they found that she had lost 80% of the vision in one of her eyes due to incorrect treatment. I have spoken to several malpractice attorneys who said that unfortunately the statute of limitations had passed, it is 2 years in Michigan, otherwise she could have sued them and likely won. They seem incompetent and just out to get money and do not appropriately refer or treat patients.

He does have updated equipment now like the retinal scanner which is a great aid. I have not been to the Evolve Eyecare location yet in Novi, however the Farmington location (formerly Eye Spy Eyecare) is recommended. I have had a good experience getting eye exams there.

Any time you wait to resolve billing issues after 6 months, it becomes very difficult to work with insurance companies and I'm sure they knew that... so they gave themselves 1 month to figure this out. Whatever they asked for (pre-authorization from my wife's PCP) we gave them but they still had an issue because apparently they didn't get what they needed. After I called to try and resolve this matter (and their mistake on extending this timeline so long), whoever I spoke to was super rude and condescending as if I was in the wrong.. "Well did you call back to make sure we received the referral?!" No I didn't, I don't work for you. If they had an issue, don't wait 5 months before saying something. I don't recommend anyone coming here. Super expensive anyways and they have horrible customer service... any other company would admit fault and write off the (less than) $200 fees they were trying to collect. Their doctors are fine, can't really say anything bad about the care. But then if you need contacts or glasses just be ready to pay $$$$ or go elsewhere anyways.

Where I work, they have a program for prescription safety glasses, and Oakland Vision is a…read moreparticipant in that program. When I picked out the glasses, they did a great job - they explained the benefit, brought out 2 trays of glasses to choose from, and were helpful in placing the order. Picking up the order, was not as great of an experience. They had my order ready, and they brought out the glasses. I always have to have glasses adjusted as my ears are not level. I asked them to do this, and they said my glasses were fine. I demonstrated they were crooked, and they still insisted they were straight. I was told "you are all set, thank you" and I left. Please note, there was no opportunity to check the vision or explain anything - no paperwork provided. I immediately drove to SVS Vision in Wixom, and they adjusted the glasses in about 45 seconds. All is well. I will be back next year for my safety glasses again if my prescription changes - I will just be prepared to immediately go to SVS Vision for an adjustment. The glasses are high quality, and they did a great job ordering them.
